Lewis & Callum from DJ Fire crushed the Celebration of Life event for my close friend Bryce Olson this past Sunday night at The Meadow space at McMenamin’s Edgefield. It was an extremely complex 3-hour event with 16 different videos, multiple Spotify playlists, and 21 different speakers over the course of 3 hours. All of that went off without a hitch from an AV perspective—because DJ Fire was professional, prepared, collaborative, responsive, and solution oriented. I’d recommend them to anyone from an Event Production standpoint—not to mention the DJ dance party that ensued afterwards! This is a 1st-Class DJ service! I hired Fire Djs to provide great music for my 25th Wedding Anniversary Celebration in August 2023.
Lewis, the owner, was very attentive to my American & Vietnamese music selections. He promptly answered every question that I had from my first initial inquiry in February to the week leading up to the event. Lewis even provided a great photographer, "Boomboomportland!"
The Fire DJs that played music at my party was Greg! He did a superb job with the song selections during cocktails, dinner, and dancing. He had everyone dancing non-stop and doing a conga line that was miles long from the dance floor to the vineyard.
It was an amazing & memorable celebration. I would definitely hire them again!

I can't say enough great things about this company! From day one communication with Lewis was fantastic. He was always available to address any questions I had leading up to event. Day of, Troy Grisa was our DJ and was spectacular. We celebrated our bday in the Space Needle with a 70s glam dance off party and are glad we picked Lewis and the DJ Fire team for our event. Lewis was super responsive and accommodating during the time we planned the event, not only on finding right music choices, but also on lighting and entertainment options. My wife and I couldn't be happier with our decision to hire The Fire DJs for our wedding. They were professional and organized from start to finish. Lewis was our main contact throughout and was present for most of our wedding and Danny was our DJ for the reception. We made the mistake of not hiring a Day Of Coordinator and Lewis really stepped up and helped us out way more than I would have expected. He checked in with us regularly and adjusted the schedule as needed to keep things flowing. The EQ and volume were perfect and everything from the mic'd ceremony, to the speeches and the music sounded great. The music was well balanced and loud enough to enjoy, but not loud enough to drown out conversation in the dinner space right next to the dance floor at our outdoor venue. It is clear that these guys are professionals. We were asked to provide playlists for the cocktail hour, dinner and reception and they did a fantastic job of using the provided playlists as guides. They played the music that we asked for, mixed in a lot of music that fit in well with our playlists and they were always up for requests. On top of all of this, both Lewis and Danny privided really positive energies. They were polite, fun to talk to and always had smiles on their faces. We had so many people comment about how awesome the DJ was and how he really has a talent for keeping the kids entertained. The Fire DJs knocked it out of the park for us. They were great to work with, showed up early, and rocked the night! I hosted a Sweet 16 for my daughter and definitely asked a lot from them. There were 2 full stages, pages of script for the DJ, and elaborate lighting. This was no problem for Lewis, who handled it with ease. I remember the first time I spoke with him we chatted for over an hour to discuss the specifics of the party. We agreed to a price higher than I was expecting, but in the end worth every penny. Lewis made our wedding so special and was an absolute hit with all of our guests! Here are some details describing just how great Lewis is:
We hired Lewis to DJ at our Mt. Hood Skibowl wedding. It's a tricky venue logistically as the ceremony area is up the mountain and the reception is below. We had Lewis play music before the ceremony as guests arrived, and he brought his own equipment to mic my sister and her partner on vocals/guitar during the ceremony, as well as our officiant. The sound quality was excellent and the ceremony went very smoothly despite a lot of moving parts. Lewis arrived hours early to set up the reception area first, and then set up for the ceremony on the mountain. During the pre-ceremony music, he followed a playlist I shared with him and made sure to play the specific songs I wanted played up at the top of the mountain. He was extremely organized, had a printed timeline which he referenced throughout the day, and worked extremely well with our other vendors. There were a few last-minute adjustments we made to the timeline throughout the night and Lewis went with the flow and did a great job letting guests know what to expect and transitioning them from one event to the next. Lewis has a kind and casual style with MC'ing that made us and our guests feel at ease. When it came to the dancing portion of the night, Lewis really shined. He had our guests on the dance floor the entire 3 hours we had budgeted for dancing. If he played a song that didn't land right away with guests, within 10 seconds he faded it out and seamlessly transitioned to a new song. So many guests came up to us during and following the wedding, raving about Lewis. Everyone at our wedding loved him! He was open to song requests from guests and was overall just a lovely person to have as part of our day. It was also clear that he was having a great time DJing and enjoying himself - which really added to the overall vibe of the wedding.
Pre-wedding, Lewis first met with us on the phone and then later in person about a month before the wedding to go over our entire timeline for the night. He had great advice and even helped us make some decisions about song choices that we were unsure of.
We can't say enough great things about Lewis and the Fire DJs, and are recommending them to all of our friends getting married in the area. He made everything about our wedding music and facilitation effortless. Just go ahead and book them!

Lewis is a dream to work with, and we've had a dozen DJs at my school in the past 11 years, so I know. Lewis shows up early for setup and is very particular to make sure everything is "just right. " He listens carefully to expectations (setup, behavior, hislanguage/tone, choice of music) and is incredibly respectful both in terms of the school's culture and the concerns of the chaperones/administration. He meets people well and professionally; he's polite, articulate, positive, and humble. He works VERY hard to please his employer, and HE PUTS ON A GREAT SHOW FOR THE KIDS!! He has games and activities they love, he knows how to get them moving and dancing and laughing, he picks music they love but that fits our age-appropriate parameters, and he is himself really fun and funny to watch with his whacky outfits and his "Magic Mirror." What do you love most about your job?
That moment when the crowd swings.
Most events follow the same pattern. People arrive, general awkwardness ensues, a few brave people drop their moves, others join in, and then it happens... The crowd swings and basically everyone joins in singing, dancing, and jumping to the music. I love that tipping point. Seeing the crowd swing from just a few courageous souls grooving to the majority of the attendees dancing wildly is an experience that will never get old. What inspired you to start your own business?
The sheer joy that singing and dancing give people is immeasurable. Each of us has one moment that defines why we do this day after day. For me, it has to be one of the first paid gigs I was hired for: a middle school dance in a highly religious private school. Over the past couple years the kids there had sub-par DJs with limited setups and less than average enthusiasm. I showed up with my infinity mirror, projector, and overwhelming charisma. The kids were blown away. I will never forget how grateful they were, literally coming up to me after the gig was over and thanking me for coming out.
We have all been DJ-ing parties since we were in college. Each of us picked it up for our own reasons but we all have a collective love of music and its incredible effect on people.

From stellar communication to great equipment and an up-to-date music library, one of our main focuses is quality. We will bring a level of quality to your event that you won’t find anywhere else. One story that really proves this point is Redmond High School’s last dance before COVID began. Less than a week before the dance happened the leadership team at the school requested black lights. It wasn’t a problem. Our team showed up early, set up the lights, and played the best music for the students present. To say the dance was a success would be an understatement. The black lights were so brilliant that the room glowed, everyone’s teeth fluoresced, and blonde hair turned bright green. Then there was the dancing. These kids went HAM. Our lead DJ Lewis brought the slaps, and it was obvious by just looking at the crowd. If they weren’t dancing, they were jumping, and if they weren’t jumping, they were screaming along to the music. That is the thing about the Fire DJs. We are young, talented DJs from Portland and beyond who can connect with guests. We are not 40-something-year-olds playing Michael Jackson and thinking it’s still cool. From the moment you first contact us to when you dance your heart out, it will be evident how real our quality is.
