Let'em Eat Cake

I contracted Jeffrey's services for my wife's graduation party and he did not disappoint. Everything from communication, cake design and flavor to (most important to me) price exceeded my expectations. I started contacting several local bakeries about 4 weeks prior to the event and chose to go with Let'em Eat Cake mainly because of the fantastic cake design examples on his website and price.For the same design and size, other places would have charged me up to twice as much.The cake itself was beautiful and every detail I requested was perfectly incorporated by Jeffrey. Guests and the restaurant itself were amazed by the cake and asked about his business cards. As for the flavor, we went with a Vanilla cake, cream cheese filling and fondant cover. I've used Jeffrey's services twice. First time, was for my Peter Rabbit theme baby shower in March of 2017, second was my sons 1st birthday in April the following year themed hungry Caterpillar. The flavors he presented himself with were amazing. The freshest and tastiest flavors I've ever had, always top shelf. My mom ordered our baby shower cake here and the cake turned out beautiful! The cake was very frosting heavy and too sugary. The frosting had an extremely thick layer. I usually love frosting but this wasn't my favorite. The presentation was gorgeous but I've had better tasting cake. That said, we are still pleased, it was very pretty. The invitation part with my sons name on it (made out of fondant) ended up breaking in half before we served the cake so it ended up not being used. Jeffrey created an amazing retirement "shirt cake" for my husband's roast. Everyone loved it and was so impressed that they all asked for the name of the bakery.  The detailing on the shirt, walkie talkie, and handcuffs was so fun to look at. The flag background was such a special touch: Jeffrey really went the extra mile.And, oh my goodness, the cake itself was delicious!!  Not only was it the best gluten-free cake I've ever had, it was the best (and moistest) cake I've ever had, period.  No one but mother-in-law even knew it was gluten-free.  (And she said the same thing.) My wife had surprised me with a red velvet cake but the real surprise was the detailed photos on it! I had flashbacks from my wedding and formal events with my closest friends. The red velvet cake is something I consider myself an expert on (at eating) and this cake was dynamite. There are so many good things running in my mind when it comes to this business(See the photo I posted and you'll know why I am so smitten by this business) . Jeffrey runs the business out of his home, he is a certified home baker. He has a good website where you can explore products and fill out a form requesting a quote. I filled out the online quote form and then had the rest of the conversation with Jeffrey on phone since I was in a rush. I needed a cake for a friend's birthday and it was super short notice. I made the order 4 hours before pickup time, and Jeffrey agreed to make the cake. It was a custom cake so I understand how much effort would have gone into it.Jeffrey is amazing at what he does. The cake turned out exactly like the picture I sent him. The cake tastes out of this world, like one of the best I have ever eaten. The service was super fast. Within 3 hours of placing the order I had the cake with me. He kept me posted about the cake and also sent a photo when it was done. He was super helpful in directions to his place as well. In-fact after cutting the cake we were talking more about how amazing Jeffrey is than the guy who's birthday it was :POne thing which I felt could have been better is the pricing. I felt that it was a little towards the expensive side but since he was the only one who agreed to making the cake on such short notice, I do not want to complain. He charged me a rush fees too. I ordered a 96th birthday/Valentine Day cake for my aunt.  Jeffrey is so creative!!  The cake was exquisite and so delicious.  We had a ladies lunch at the Prado in Balboa Park.  The waiters and chef were so impressed.  The chef took a picture and asked for details.  Many lunchers sang happy birthday and came over to admire the cake.  It was a huge hit!!  I will go to Jeffery again. three days before my husband's 62nd birthday I realized I didn't have a cake. I was just about to call Costco and realized I really wanted something special so I looked for custom cake bakeries. I called several and couldn't get past "I'm sorry, we need six weeks". Ugh. I called Jeffrey and after hearing what I wanted he said he could make it happen. I had to make one concession and it was trivial. Fast forward to the DAY, the cake (which had a social security check imaged on the top) was lemon with a raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting. THE CAKE WAS AWESOME - moist and tart with just the right amount of sweetness.  Jeffrey was running a little late that day and so he offered to deliver the cake. Picked up the most beautiful cake from Jeffery today. He is very professional and knows exactly what you want when discussed over the phone. He took my order 4 days ago and his attention to detail is superb. The cake is absolutely spectacular and way more than we expected. We were all so delighted with this cake!  The only problem was that grandma kitty's boyfriend kept squeezing the "paint tubes" (even after we yelled at him not to) to "prove to us that they were real". Sometimes these "decade" birthdays can be a challenge. "Should we, shouldn't we have a party?", or "Shall the 2 of us go away somewhere special? ".... My decision was made because my husband's entire family from the East Coast decided to come out and help him celebrate his 70th birthday.  Guess we're having a party!Finding the picture of what I wanted on the cake was easy.  Getting a bakery lined up was not.  I found the local bakeries prohibitively expensive, plus they never bothered responding to my inquiry.  I had read about "Let 'em Eat Cake" before on Yelp, and sent Jeffrey an email asking about prices, etc.  Coming in at 50% less than I was quoted by the local bakery, and having read numerous positive reviews, Jeffrey got my business, and he did not disappoint.  This cake was BIG.  It was moist, delicious....that fudge filling was the bomb!  The frosting wasn't too sweet, and the cake, a marble cake, was just the right combination of light and dark.  If I ever need a professional cake again, Jeffrey is forever my go-to guy.  He's great, friendly, and even more important, a little, small business that we all should support.  Thanks, Jeffrey! I ordered our wedding cake last minute and Jeffrey was able to accommodate.   We ordered a simple white cake with lemon cream and cream cheese icing. After another bakery backed out on my order (won't be returning there...EVER!!!) I got ahold of Jeffery with only one week to go until I needed a Grey Goose vodka cake. I knew it was going to be a long-shot, finding someone to do it and do a good job. I emailed him a pic of what I wanted and lemme just tell you, he delivered 100%. I must admit, I am one tough customer and very hard to please. And I must admit that Jefferey here is one outstanding artist. From the get go, when I sent him an online request to bake a very complex cake for my baby's first birthday to the day when we saw and tasted the amazing cake, everything was perfect.We had a minion themed 3-tier birthday cake.Now, I did get recommendations from friends for several bakers and I did my due diligence reading up reviews all over the internet for days, spoke to atleast 4 different people. Some were flippant, one went as far as to say she could maybe do a simple cake if I paid all the money upfront, and most just gave me a mighty attitude when I shared the picture of the cake.And when I filled out a form with the picture of the cake attached, I got a call from Jefferey. I did give him a tough time, telling him exactly what I expected, talked to him about how important this was for us.He was positive, never sounded condescending at my lack of knowledge about the finer details of baking, gave invaluable suggestions and viola!!! we had one hell of a perfect cake.The rate was very very reasonable. Here's what I asked for among many things -  a tasty cake that is not dry and dough-ey inside  finesse in how it looks  smooth fondant covering Here's what we agreed on -"Your cake will be similar to the picture you sent us constructed with an 8" Marble cake filled with fudge buttercream and a 6" Vanilla cake filled with strawberry filling, finished with Almond-vanilla buttercream and designed with fondant. The cupcake topper, a fondant candle will be finished with buttercream and be able to use as a smash cake for child."And the result - PERFECT! Not only did it look amazing, every bite was delicious!No one in the party had seen such a fun cake, baked to perfection and we loved it.Jefferey is not just passionate about his art, he is a wonderful person.
