The confirmation and the woman I spoke with told me and my party to arrive 15 minutes before the tour starts, so we did expecting someone to be there waiting for us already. Nope, no one. Called the number about it, told me that the driver will arrive at the scheduled time. That's was the biggest problem we encountered seeing as how my party had a physically disabled members that can't stand for long and the meeting spot didn't have any seating at all.Aside from that, our driver Barry was a very good tour guide. I highly recommend him, very informative! More...

He is very knowledgeable and insightful as to how San Francisco looked and he also showed us pictures of the fire and the earthquake before we even started the tour. We had a more enjoyable tour because of his informative talk. He spent time at each stop and discussed what was relevant at each stop and even took our pictures . This was TOTALLY worth it! We did the SF local trip only because we were short on time.  I will gladly book the longer one next time I visit.  BARRY was a friendly and informative tour guide/driver.  He used a microphone  headset thingy which made it clear and easy to hear him.  His detailed historical information was TOP NOTCH. It was informative with touches of humor. Not like in your face or over the top trying to be a comedian, just touches of humor.  He knew details about art, history, architecture  and more.  He gave us time to take photos at key points and every angle he recommended  was perfect!!!  The van was clean, comfy, and had AC. We had potty breaks but not for food and drinks fyi. . . But Barry was so awesome if we had asked I'm sure he would've obliged-he was that cool. More...

Barry, Our Tour Guide was quite knowledgeable, punctual, organized, friendly, and patient. A big plus is that we weren’t crammed in like a bunch of sardines as you’ll see with all the other tour company buses. The environment was actually quite comfortable with great speaker system, lots of space and A/C. Barry was fully prepared and equipped; he showed pictures of the areas we saw from back in the 18th and 19th centuries, had music that corresponded to the areas we were in and he even took pictures of us on our adventure. He took us to the best of the best places in San Francisco, including areas the other tour buses denied us the pleasure of seeing. Barry even made recommendations on what activities we could do thereafter. The restaurant he recommends— Scomi’s ItalianRestaurant on the pier was absolutely delicious and delightful with a lovely atmosphere. It was money well spent! I highly recommend booking your tour with Left Coast Tours tour for your own amazing San Francisco experience. I would definitely return for another tour. Thank you Barry & Left Coast Tours! More...

If you want to see all that San Francisco has to offer and learn about San Francisco lore, then look no further than Left Coast Tours. Our guide, Jeffrey, was upbeat, intelligent and knew the ins and outs of SF.  We took the four-hour tour which went by in a flash. That's because Jeffrey kept us interested with stories and humor.  We learned about the painted ladies (I won't give it away), and Fort Point on top of which the views were spectacular.  We then crossed the Golden Gate bridge and went to a vista where we could see the different landmarks of San Francisco. Jeffrey took us through the Castro, Presidio (and even told us how to bike across the bridge, get lunch in Sausalito, then ferry back), Pacific Heights, Chinatown, North Beach, the Tenderloin, Haight-Ashbury and the financial district among others. He was incredibly knowledgeable, answering all of our questions. By the end of the tour, we felt as if we'd known him for years.  The brand new Mercedes van was extremely comfortable both in temperature and ride. The only regret we have is not taking this spectacular tour earlier in our visit to SF so we could zero in on the neighborhoods that we wanted to explore further. We highly recommend this tour. Don't miss it. More...

Tyana is the BEST!! The tour started out simply enough. At her recommendation, we started the morning at Muir Woods where our little group of 8 pretty much had the park to ourselves before the giant tour busses full of screaming kids showed up to fill the park. A beautiful but uneventful drive back to the city, across the bridge and through the Presidio was peppered with several little photo opportunity stops. Once we hit the Castro District, all regular tour routes were impassable thanks to several marches and protests. I had a great experience with Left Coast Tours. I was able to buy a few Groupons and take my family on their tour around SF.  Traffic was everywhere due to the holiday, but that is not something Left Coast Tours can control. We had Tyana as our tour guide and driver. She was fantastic and had lots of information to share about SF and the different spots we got to hit up.  Keep in mind that you'll be in a 12 passenger VAN not a double decker bus.  I'm not sure why I assumed we'd be in a bus, but I'm glad we were in a van. Yeah, there were moments where it was hard to see some of the sights that we were just passing by through the windows of the van, but imagine this, would you feel safe in a double decker bus driving up Twin Peaks?! I don't think so!Tyana managed to drive us everywhere safely up and down the hills of SF.  Even through traffic, she handled it well and kept a smile on her face!  We got to see so many sights I would not have discovered on my own.  Tyana had charisma and was friendly, always offering to take our family pictures in front of the tourist attractions too.  The tour is long, and there aren't stops for food (at least not the one I was on), so remember to bring a bottle of water and some light snacks.  This was a great way to see most of SF's hot spots in a day, and I'll be sure to visit them more in depth on my own another time.  Would definitely love to go on more tours with Left Coast Tours in the future! We had an awesome time with Barry at our City Tour + Muir Woods tour. Like many other reviewers, I purchased these tickets on Groupon and was worried the negative reviews were correct. I have to be honest, I have no idea what these people are talking about. Our tour started on time, the van was clean, and there was plenty of window room to get a view of the sites. Like @courtney mentioned, this is a great tour for your first day in San Francisco, as it provides a peek into what the city has to offer. The city tour itself allowed us to decide that we wanted to explore two separate neighborhoods the following day. As for the Muir Woods tour, if you have the time and like nature, I highly recommend adding it to your game plan. It was a great hour of exploring nature and enjoying what the non-city part of San Fran has to offer. For lunch, we went to this awesome health foods super market that has plenty of hot and cold lunches. We had a great experience with Left Coast Tours, despite all the negative reviews.  We purchased the City Tour + Muir Woods through Groupon, and found it easy to book the tour by calling the company just a few days in advance.  Our tour guide was Jeffrey, who had plenty of knowledge & humor throughout the tour.  He was hilarious and made several stops for photo opportunities, which is always appreciated.  We hit all of the main sights and spent about an hour in Muir Woods.  I'd recommend this tour for one of your first days in San Francisco - it is very much breadth over depth, but we were okay with that.  It gave us an overview of the city and helped us decide which of the sights we wanted to go back and spend more time exploring and which ones were just "quick hits" - get a photo and move on.  The only reasons we knocked it down a star were that we were picked up 10 minutes late without any notice and the windows in the van are kind of small, so it was hard to see sights that were not on your side of the van.  Overall, for the price we paid on Groupon, this tour was totally worth it!
