Mr. Macias Has All The patience in the world. Our son loves coming Here. He enjoys all the techniques Mr. Macias has shown him. We initially brought our son to Kenmex because he was getting bullied at school and we wanted him to have some self defense skills. Our son has been coming here for about 6 months and we can honestly say our son has more confidence, strength and stronger both physically and mentally. Mr. Macias ALWAYS keeps the kids on their toes with the warm-ups, showing them a friendly competition and showing them new skills. He is truly dedicated to the kids, he doesn't let them slack, which we like! If you are or we're thinking of enrolling your child in his class, you will not regret it, I guarantee you. We have been looking for a Martial arts class for my 8 year old for a while. With work and class hours it made it impossible for us to take him.  This place has a kids class at 6pm which works out great. My son has been coming for the last 6 months and absolutely loves it.  Mr. Macias is soo good with the kids! The kids not only learn Martial arts they have a good time. He makes it super fun for them. My son loves it when they have parents night out. I wanted to add an update to my original review. We have been with Kenmex for almost a year. And we ALL love it! I now have four kids doing the class. My 4, 8, 10 and 16. And it really is so rewarding. Señor Macias really builds the kids up and helps them with confidence and self esteem. He makes them believe they can do anything. But not just kids! I have started to do the adult kickboxing class for myself. I hate excercise and have never been one to like the gym or stick to home videos or systems. But I absolutely LOVE going to kickboxing! I feel really good after. Maybe I just found what works for me. But I think Señor Macias is just the kind of person who builds others up. Not just kids but adults. My daughter has been training with Mr. Macias for 2 yrs and have only positive comments about him. He focuses on each child with attention so they can improve their weaknesses but never compromises the whole class. My daughter loves coming every time. Coach is a terrific teacher. He works with the children as well as the adults. He teaches honor, respect and how if you work hard you can achieve anything! Our 5 1/5 year old son is currently taking karate lessons with Mr. Macias for about 2 months, during this time I have seen such growth and maturity in him, not just physically, but mentally as well. My sons have taken karate with Mr. Macias for over two years and have learned so much. The instructors at Kenmex are very knowledgeable and patient with the kids and adults. I drive all the way from Long Beach and it is worth it, with the quality of training and self-confidence it gives me and my family. Mr. Macias is a great instructor. My son has been going to karate classes for about three months now and loves it. He makes the classes fun and jokes with the kids making it a comfortable environment. He is a positive reinforcement and teaches the kids respect and confidence. Best trainer  in the world with kids. My kids have been going to him for 3 yrs. The Adult Workout classes are challenging but he makes you feel like you have really accomplished something. Carlos has the greatest personality and that is an extra plus in this business!!!!My son 's have challenges with focus and following instruction. Not in Mr. Macias's class! And both of them have really soared in their grades and focus in private school since we have enrolled them at his studio. That's why I drive all the way from Long Beach to Downey to take his class. Its my 3rd month and I have had incredible life changing tranformations. I am focusing better at work. As a Full time Mom and also having a full time job I have far more energy than I had in a very long time. This is the best place to train in martial arts in my opinion! The instructor in here, Mr. Macias is very low key and informative. I always can't wait to go to his class and get choked by him.. well you know in martial arts that's a good thing lol. I was actually his student way back in 2005 at a Long Beach studio learning American Kenpo. Though I didn't finished my training from him because the previous studio closes; It encourages me to continue to be a better martial artist, both physically and mentally. I could easily enroll and go somewhere else to train, but I chose this studio because I simply like the positive vibe in it. I searched for Mr. Macias for almost 6-7 years since I got my first black belt from an another instructor because I know for sure this guy will improve my skills, specifically ground fighting (BJJ). That's how I have great belief in his teachings. I searched his name in facebook then message a lot of Carlos Macias, hoping one would know who the heck I am haha. But anyway, his teaching is legit and let me explain why.Mr. Macias obviously know stand up fighting from his American Kenpo and boxing background and got his ground fighting from the first BJJ school in California. The same American Kenpo school that thought Raymond "the real deal" Daniels how to be a badass in the world of kickboxing.. that is the power of one school. These people roll in the same flock basically. So I'm just honored that he is pouring knowledge to this tough noggin of mines.Some martial arts schools will ripped your wallet and doesn't provide the same quality of teaching that this man can provide. By the way he got a sweet gym with lots of punching bag to beat up.. so that's awesome.
