Professional photography is expensive for a reason, knowing how to properly light, compose and edit images takes an artist's eye and extensive technical training. Knowing this, I jumped on the Groupon offer for a session with Karina, and it was truly an amazing bargin for the quality of work and delightful personal service provided by Karina and her assistant. As mentioned repeatedly in the reviews, Karina puts you immediately at ease and makes the entire process very comfortable and simple. I am very satisfied with the images that resulted from the shoot. I wanted a shot that could be used for business purposes but still be pretty, fun and capture my personality---Karina nailed it. It didn't hurt that I got a parking spot right out front! Like many other reviewers, I purchased the Groupon for my Boudoir session with Karina (I actually purchased two so I could have more time/poses).  Although the increased demand due to the Groupon promotion meant waiting longer to get an appointment, I did not find the process of booking my appointment to be confusing or difficult.  Karina provided very detailed instructions so it was really just a matter of following them.  If you simply took a few minutes to look at your calendar, plan ahead, and follow directions, it was a perfectly smooth and stress-free experience.  I actually changed my appointment a couple of times online (as I was planning my wedding and had an insane schedule in those days), and never encountered any problems.  I think in general in life, you get out of an experience what you put into it, and I saw this as an opportunity to participate in a fun, memorable, creative process, not as just cashing in on some coupons.The session itself was a really fun and liberating experience - I am definitely a shy person, but Karina made me feel totally comfortable.  She is extremely professional and gave really good, clear directions (which I needed), but at the same time was very funny and sweet and kept the atmosphere light.  I also appreciated how she took the time to make sure every shot was perfect -- that my face was relaxed, my chin turned down, legs in the right position, etc.  Posing in a sexy yet natural-looking way is a LOT harder than it looks, but Karina walked me through every step and really captured the best of me. I could not be happier with my images.  Even though I happen to be in lingerie (or less), each one has a different feel--some are overtly sexy, others more subtly playful, some capturing a more serious side--but all of them are ME.  Although it was not included in the Groupon deal, I decided to purchase an album with 10 shots as a wedding gift to my husband.  Best money I ever spent.  Suffice it to say, I don't think I'm ever going to top that gift.  And as much as he loves them, the images are as much a gift to myself--something I can look at for the rest of my life and think, yeah, I was pretty hot : )  Like my own personal little Maxim spread, for my eyes and my husband's eyes only.  And what woman doesn't need that Thank you, Karina!! I purchased a Groupon like most others who have recently met Karina.  I wanted to try something different, and do something out of the ordinary for myself for a change. And the deal was amazing (price around if you already haven't, and you'll see it was a great deal!!!). It is not like me to ever feel comfortable in my own skin, but I took a chance since 2011 was the "new me" year.  I didn't end up booking my appointment right away.  I wanted to lose a few lbs. first.  I had waited to book my appointment in June.  But some problems arose when Karina moved to an online booking system.  Her communication through the whole process was very detailed and pleasant though.  I had no problems with her answering any of my emails and inquiries about booking an appointment.  It wasn't until the end of July that the online booking system was available, and so I went forth and booked my appointment.  With all of the groupons she sold, i thought it would be at least a few months before I could get a session with Karina, but to my surprise I was able to get an appointment within 2 weeks of booking. It was important for me to get a session before the end of the month, and I was able to, so I liked that.   I paid for a primetime appointment session on a Sunday, as I was driving from Sacramento to have my portraits taken.  I had done my research by reading the reviews on Groupon, as well as her facebook page and Yelp.  It's unfortunate that there were some negative experiences, and I was hoping mine wouldn't be the same.  I was her last appointment of the evening.  When I arrived, I was a little nervous, and I didn't know what to expect.  But let me just say this:BEST PHOTO SESSION/EXPERIENCE I've ever had!!!! I went in thinking that this might not be as fun as i anticipated because of the other reviews on yelp, but it was everything I anticipated and more.  Karina is such a sweetheart, and she definitely made me feel comfortable in front of the camera.  She made me feel like more of a friend than a client.  And I had fun.  She definitely has an eye for what poses look good, and what doesn't, and she is very good (and patient, because i don't take direction very well) at directing her subjects in front of the camera. I use to do  studio photography, and I love being behind the camera, and I expressed to Karina how I feel about being in front of the camera (ie not comfortable at all).  She totally changed my mind with the photos she took. I really had a hard time believing that it was me she was photographing in the pictures.  I liked how she assigned "homework" so there wasn't any confusion as to what kind of poses I might want, and she made them my own pose, not a re-creation of the poses I presented her.  I'm now addicted.  I want more sessions with Karina.   I think this is an awesome gift to yourself, and it is definitely a way to feel pretty.  The turnaround time for receiving my portraits doesn't bother me.  They are gift to myself.  And after the influx of customers she gained, I understand why it takes so much time.  I'm certain that the photos will be well worth the wait.  PLEASE TAKE THE LOW STAR REVIEWS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT.  Each experience is different.  I didn't go in expecting a perfect/flawless session where Karina could transform me into a celebrity/model.  I went in prepared, and with my homework and research done.  I viewed her photos and read the reviews, read my contract and I went in thinking, "It's only going to be as fun as I make it."  I came out of my session bragging to all of my girlfriends that they should do this for themselves as well.  My expectations were exceeded, and I will definitely be returning again. I had my Boudoir photo session with Karina last weekend, and I must say it was fantastic! I have yet to see my pictures, but the session was fun, and Karina was great! She was really confortable to be around and talk to.I got my hair done by her as well, and I must say that I am thouroughly glad I did this!! I would HIGHLY recommend that you have her do your hair! In short: I purchased one boudoir session with Karina through Groupon and then one additional session (as well as hair and makeup) through her directly, all at discounted rates. Communication via email was fast and clear (much appreciated and pretty miraculous considering her record-setting Groupon sales). I was extremely nervous about my session, but sweet and open Karina put me very much at ease - I had a surprisingly very fun time! I learned a lot about myself over the whole process and Karina made me feel like I really deserved to do something special for myself.At length: This past weekend was my long awaited "Groupon" boudoir session with Karina. Like some other reviewers, before I purchased the Groupon, I read over all of the details carefully and checked out her other websites for additional information. I thought the restrictions were pretty reasonable for the extremely low price; the deal itself was enough to push me to do something that was completely outside my comfort zone - to celebrate and try to appreciate my body.Following my purchase in February, it wasn't until April 26th (I wasn't in a rush) that I contacted Karina through her website via the generic inquiry function. I received an email back from Donna (listed as Karina's assistant) that same afternoon stating that my inquiry had been received and that I would receive another email with information shortly. Later that evening, I received an extremely detailed email reemphasizing the limits of the Groupon and also offering the purchase of additional $99 sessions - I purchased one additional session. I thought it was fantastic that Karina was willing to offer additional discounted sessions for those people who had purchased an original Groupon and to their friends! Yes, there was a $20 fee for the additional session, however, in my opinion, if a photographer, or any service, is going to cut a $300+ session to $99 AND include retouched prints with digital file, I think it is reasonable to anticipate charges for things like shipping,  additional prints, etc. as most photographers charge you for these things, regardless. Hair and makeup services were also offered and I decided to splurge on both. I appreciated the clear information and establishment of expectations.As my appointment approached, I received information about my "homework" and what to expect on the day of my session. I found the virtual tour of her studio helpful and liked that I could see what I was getting myself in to. I also took the time to shop for outfits and accessories - petites should check out Lula Lu.The morning of the appointment I was very nervous. Having had body image issues most of my life, I almost called to cancel. But due to a recent commitment to learning to like myself more, I kept myself glued to the sidewalk until Karina invited me in. The loft was great - a ton of natural light. And Karina? She was in comfortable clothes - very relaxed - and her attitude: sweet and inviting. She talked about some recent wedding shoots she had done as I laid out my outfits and accessories on the kitchen table. We talked through my homework and the outfits I saw myself in. I expressed my concern about my 5'-1" frame and 'soccer legs' and she countered with her own awareness of her 6'-0" frame and long limbs - we altered some perspectives and adapted backgrounds to incorporate my ideas. She put me at ease, for sure, and validated my thought-process regarding the poses and outfits I'd chosen. For the next 2.5 hours, she worked on my hair and makeup. While she styled my hair she talked to me about the process and my goals, which was great. Hearing her get excited about achieving just the right curl got me excited, too!  The makeup was also fun, as I don't typically wear much more than mascara and Chap Stick. She talked to me about each product and why the color was good for my face. The results exceeded my expectations and I felt truly stunning, yet natural!Then it was time for the main event. Never having been in front of a professional camera, Karina was fantastic at coaching my head/limb/mouth/etc placement, and made me laugh often. I trusted her judgment and added a little bit of my own attitude to the process. She was extremely complimentary throughout the shoot and very reassuring. It seemed like the photography time flew by, but I felt that we had achieved what I wanted from each of my four poses/outfits. I left after a hug and went home feeling beautiful - such a lovely feeling! In fact, I was very pleased with the experience and was glowing the rest of the weekend! The night of the shoot, when my love got home that evening from a trip, I surprised her with my awesome makeup and a fashion show of the day's outfits. It was time to meet my sexy self again.  She was there, tucked away next to the memories of long ago.  My daily life had become filled with stressful work, wild children and mundane chores.  Family life happens to the best of us.  I was looking for a way to find me in the mix of everyone who needed from me.  I was looking for proof that the Sexy Me was not lost.  When I decided to have boudoir photos done by Karina, I was counting the days until my shoot.   From the minute that I walked into Karina's studio I felt sexy and fun.  It was so pleasurable choosing outfits, doing hair and makeup, laughing, chatting, and picking locations to shoot in the studio and on the rooftop.  I had such a grand time celebrating myself!     Karina is a vibrant person and extraordinary photographer.  Karina has an amazing gift and she works very hard for her clients.  Throughout my whole session she was present and gave 110% of her attention.  She gave clear and supportive words to instruct me on how to relax and how to move in front of the camera.  Karina is a delight to work with.  I came away from my shoot with a new appreciation for modeling.  It is not easy!  It is really fun though!  My photos are gorgeous!  I am so proud of them!  My husband loves them too!  I really feel like this experience was life changing for me.  I reconnected to the sexy woman that I have always been and my husband really benefits from this!  Do yourself a favor and make an appointment with Karina! I heard about Karina from one of my friends that lives in San Francisco. she talk to me about Karina and all the experience before she got her prints she was just amazed on the way Karina works. When the pictures arrive and my friend show them to me I couldn't stop myself I made an appointment bought a ticket and fly to get my pictures taken.When I first arrive to the studio I was nervous I had never have boudoir pictures taken so I didn't know how it was going to work. I ask questions and she was really happy to answer them to me I went to the 2nd floor where she has her 2 beautiful cats I have to have them in some of my pictures. I change to the clothes and my stomach start being all  nervous and stressWhen Karina was taking my pictures she made me feel so pretty and unstressed. I really mean this she really capture my best moments. I came to see Karina for the second time today (I just had to buy her Groupon!!).... and this experience is still as AMAZING as I remembered it! !! Karina is so positive and encouraging. I'm not the salad-eating-type of chic and she makes me feel like I'm the hottest thing that ever came in! If you haven't tried her boudoir photo session you are really missing out!! My experience with KMD is as a fan of her wedding photographry, a very special form of art. People do not realize the variety of elements that go into making a successful wedding album--from technical details to emotional, from fashion to setting, there are just so many elements to organize. I've viewed many of Karina's albums, and they are extraordinary. I guess any good photographer can "spray and shoot" at an ordinary wedding reception and come up with some decent pictures. But how about going to Maui and filming the wedding party frolicking in the waves? Or to the Middle East and following the bridal couple atop a camel? No joke--this woman has serious chops!For me, and I'm sure many brides, the #1 aspect of what I want in wedding photos is to have ME look fabulous. Right? Forget the special effects--I want to look like a movie star. With Karina's background in fashion, I know she'd make sure my dress was at a flattering angle, my makeup was touched up and that I looked as good as can be. I just got back from my shoot with Karina and LOVED it!I am not exactly sure what the negative reviews are talking about.  There were no hidden charges and it was very easy to communicate regarding appointment booking and times .You do have to be a bit realistic  in terms of realizing you might not getting an appointment the next week after you bought the Groupon, come on people there were 1500 bought!!  Also, realize how many people she is shooting per week... Unless you want crappy photos the photos won't be ready for a while, it takes time to go through, organize and retouch the photos if needed.As soon as I walked in Karina was very upbeat, nice and put me at ease. She went over all the shots I wanted and helped me coordinate the shots with my outfits and all my accessories. I also did my hair and makeup with her and she did a FANTASTIC job!! I love how it turned out! So along with hair and makeup I had 2 Groupons. So Karina and I got to spend a lot of time together, but it seemed to fly by because I was having such a great time. It was like hanging out with a girlfriend and having fun.She did run a bit over time with me, which I totally got. She is an artist and wants your experience and photos to be perfect. I found Karina through the recent Groupon offer a few months ago.  I had boudoir photos taken a few years ago and I was very unhappy with the way they came out, so my friend and I decided to take advantage of the offer and do it again.  I bought two sessions so I would have a little more time.  My friend and I wanted back to back appointments on the same day...  I will agree that it took a few weeks of emails and phone calls to confirm our appointment dates.  But with just a little patience we were booked on the day and time of our choice.  I read the Groupon information VERY CAREFULLY, and saw that over 1,500 people had purchased the Groupon, so from the very beginning I knew that Karina was most likley going to be slammed with sessions.  I also took extra time (before I purchased the Groupon) to read what the offer included.  The Groupon clearly stated that hair and makeup were offered for an additional fee, the Groupon also stated quite clearly what you got for the $99.00.  An online viewing gallery is NOT the same thing as digital files.  Anyone researching boudior photography will find that sessions often run from $500.00 to $2,000.00.  For anyone to think that $99.00 would get you 100+ digital photos is crazy. I challenge anyone to look up other boudoir photographers and look at what they charge.. you will see that this Groupon is an AMAZING deal.  $375.00 for all of your digital photos is a steal compared to the $100.00 I paid for EACH digital photo with the first boudior photographer 2 years ago.  There are no hidden fees...Karina was running about 30 minutes late, but let's be honest... my doctor and hair dresser often run 30 minutes behind too.  When you're dealing with people all it takes is one person to be running 15 minutes late and it's puts Karina's whole day behind schedule.  When our sessions did start Karina was professional, bubbly and warm.  She is FABULOUS!!!  She gave us both a big hug and made us feel comfortable right away.  She reviewed our "homework" and took time to help us pick our outfits and accessories.  She gave us suggestions that we would have never thought of ourselves.  I appreciated that she took the time to do this, even if it cut into 15 minutes of my session.  The photographer that I went to 2 years ago did not do this and it's the #1 reason why I was unhappy with the outcome.As we were finishing Karina's next client arrived, and unfortunatly she misunderstood how the Groupon worked. The client was frustrated and upset.  Karina was extremely professional with her, she spent a good 20 minutes talking to her and correcting the misunderstanding.  I was impressed with the way she handled the situation.I imagine that this Groupon deal is a learning experince for Karina and her business.  She is 100% committed to providing the best service to her clients.  She edits, downloads, and finishes all of the photos herself.  I would... without question recommend Karina to anyone looking to have boudior photos done.  I cannot wait to get my pictures.Karina... thank you for making me feel and look sexier than I ever have.  You have a true and amazing talent and feel lucky to have had the experince. Ok, everyone. Karina needs to be cut a little bit of slack here. I, like a lot of people, was introduced to Karina through Groupon. I had done boudoir photography before with a group of girlfriends (we each had individual pics taken) and wasn't pleased with my pictures, so my friend and I decided we would give it another shot. It did take a couple of phone calls to get through to have our appointment booked, but I realized that Karina is dealing with over 1500 eager clients to take pictures, so it was all good. We were able to get back to back appointments on our first choice of day/time.To be honest, we weren't sure what to expect at first, because after hoofing it for 3 blocks to get to the studio, we were told that Karina was running behind and could we come back in about a half hour. I totally understand running behind, because that's what happens when you're dealing with people. All is takes is one client to get stuck in traffic for 15 minutes and that puts Karina's whole day behind schedule. She wants to give you your full shooting time as well, which she absolutely did for us, so no complaints there. I would suggest maybe calling a half hour BEFORE your appointment time so you know if Karina is running late or not.Karina is AWESOME. She has a wonderful, welcoming, bubbly personality which puts you right at ease, which is what we want when we're taking pictures like this, right?! She knows what she is doing. She does work off of the "homework" that is required, so make sure that you research and have a good idea of what exactly you'd like to do. I loved that she took the time to look over each outfit and she gives great feedback on what works and what doesn't, down to accessories and being honest if she doesn't like your choice of lingerie/pose. Just trust her! She will "demo" what to do when posing, and if you're still not clear, just ask! I had so much fun, and we had lots of laughs together!I'd like to mention that while we were there, Karina's next client arrived and had a misunderstanding about how the Groupon worked. The client was understandably frustrated, but Karina was extremely professional with her and I'm impressed with the way she handled the situation and Karina's professionalism in general.I'm clueless as to what people are talking about when they mention "hidden fees". There are NO hidden fees here. All the information you need is given to you - yes, there is a lot of information to take in, just make sure you read through it. Like I said before, do your research. Look up a few other boudoir photographers and take a look at what they charge, and you will realize that this Groupon is a SMOKIN' deal. Even the add-ons that Karina offers are VERY reasonably priced compared to a lot of the other photographers out there.Realize that Karina herself is still learning. The Groupon is a learning experience for her, and she is doing her absolute best to provide the best product and outcome available to her clients. You don't want crappy pictures, you want awesome ones, right It is her own business, and though she has hired some assistants to help her out, she personally is invested in each and every one of your photo shoots. She loves what she does and wants the best for each of you.She will show you all your images before you leave the studio which is another giant plus, and something that very few photographers do. I had my photo-shoot with Karina yesterday and it was amazing! I had purchased 2 groupons and got to do a few different outfits on the roof and in her incredible studio. I can tell just by the shots we did that these are going to be amazing photos. Karina did explain it takes some time to see the photos (6-8 weeks) but I truly feel like it will be worth the wait. Karina's kinda a one-woman show and she has lots of beautiful ladies who want their pictures taken, right now. So I understand. I was also introduced to Karina via the Groupon offer. I'd wanted to have boudoir photographs taken for a few years but after I saw the offer and checked out Karina's website I decided to go for it. My husband's 30th birthday was coming up and I knew it would be a really special gift for him, plus I'd been feeling a bit down and thought it wouldn't hurt to do something a little daring!I'm very confused by the reviews citing 'hidden charges' as I didn't feel this at all.  Karina offered extra groupons if you wanted more time, and I took advantage of this offer but I certainly didn't feel pressured to do so.  Also, I think it's entirely unreasonable to assume that the $99 would include hair and make-up. I opted to do my own, and wasn't made to feel like this was an issue.The session with Karina was fantastic! Her studio is beautiful and her personality instantly puts you at ease...which is amazing considering you're strolling around half-naked! I had so much fun, and felt beautiful and sexy :)Considering the volume of work Karina must be dealing with I've been really impressed with how quickly I received my photos. They are absolutely stunning and my husband loved them. I discovered Karina via Groupon. And believe me, I am a photo hobbyist myself and have dabbled with fashion and glamor photography along with my friends. I can say I know a bit of what I am talking about.Karina is so inviting and I usually tense up when meeting new people and I just agree to everything they say. She coxed my and encouraged me to make decision in my photo shoot. It was so much fun. I'd definitely go back if I can and I thank Groupon for letting me meet her.There aren't any secret fees. No one can really expect free make-up with a 99 dollar fee. I did opt for her make-up though, and I was gorgeous for the next 3 hours. You'll probably get the same from other photographers. Make-up is always a different fee.Getting 1000+ groupon takers is no joke. Anyone would be busy. Now she got help, she's managing it well. I can't wait for my photos. She showed me some direct from her camera and they were awesome. I paid to get the whole batch. I want 'em all. Good and bad takes. I will get to remember myself as being confident and sexy even with just these pictures.I'd recommend her to anybody. She's realible and she treats clients with enthusiasm and honesty, like a real being and not like some income source. I bought the Groupon as some of the other reviewers did, but I had a completely different experience.  I really didn't understand when people referred to secret fees.  I never expected to get my makeup and hair done as it was not something covered or mentioned in the Groupon.  It was just something additional one could purchase if she wanted.  I called Karina and emailed her and heard back from her within the week.  I told her I wanted to get these pictures done as a gift for my husband for next month, and she did her best to accommodate me and offer times asap.I just had my shoot with her yesterday, and it was amazing!  I am not at all the type of person to take this risk, but I am so glad I did.  I am fairly reserved but thought this would be a great gift for my husband.  I was surprised it was a great gift for me.  Karina has a beautiful eye and a wonderful way about her.  She put me at ease the moment I stepped into her studio, and she was very professional.  I felt comfortable the whole time I was there, and I know this will come across in the photos.  She really listened to everything I had to say and did a great job explaining every pose to me, so I knew what she was trying to capture.  I felt confident, beautiful, and sexy the entire time I was there.  I also felt very at ease with myself...this was a gift for my husband, but I feel like I walked away with a gift for myself.I really can't wait to see the photos, share this with my husband, and hopefully do this again!  I can't say enough great things about her! I felt like giving myself and my husband a treat this year by doing a fun & sexy boudoir photoshoot and I found the perfect opportunity when I saw the Groupon for Karina Marie Diaz Photography. I decided to jump in and be adventurous and booked a session =) Karina told me I had some homework to do before my shoot. Homework? Nope, more like fun fun fun: shopping for lingerie/outfits and picking out my favorite poses to show her when I arrived.Soon as I got in the studio/loft Karina gave me a big hug and welcomed me in. Her studio is large & cozy with plenty of light flowing in from the outside and she immediately made me feel comfortable by explaining the process and what the shoot will involve (since I'm a photoshoot newbie). I laid out my clothes and shoes and picked what poses we would be doing. She was warm, caring, super-focused on her work,  funny and knows how to bring out your inner beauty to the outside, and encourages you to step outside of your comfort zone while snapping pictures away in her "sexy boot camp". It's a mini-workout, but a fun one!Ladies, if you want to sizzle and do something fun for yourself (and/or your significant other), treat yourself to a boudoir photoshoot  w/Karina. I had never seriously thought of getting boudoir photos taken of myself until I saw Karina's work and read up on what she does (and a Groupon deal helped push me over the edge). I had my first session with Karina recently (and I say "first" because I'd love to get more photos taken in the future), and I have to say Karina was awesome to work with, and she made the whole boudoir photo thing so easy!  She really seems to view each photo session as a fun and collaborative process.I had about two weeks before my shoot appointment, and became obsessed with finding inspirational images in magazines and in Karina's online portfolio (so many cool photos).  This ended up being part of some "homework," which was optional, but definitely worth it to do to prep for the shoot.   Eventually I came up with about 4-6 different outfit/image concepts that I presented to Karina during our session... and we went from there!Karina was very discreet, for those you aren't all-out used to getting naked or nearly naked in front of a camera in a loft-studio. I brought my own clothing, accessories, and makeup. Then it was just me and Karina shooting photos in different outfits and poses in natural lighting, with her giving me great directions and suggestions. (Oh, and her two sweet cats were there, either on the set or downstairs! So cute!)As an add-on, I chose to have Karina do my makeup for the shoot, since she would be aware of what makeup looks best on camera.  Though I was hesitant to shell out dinero to have someone else do my makeup, in the end I really loved the makeup!   Totally hot and not overdone!Karina's photography style is artistic, intimate, and just beautiful.  I haven't gotten my images yet, but from what I saw on the camera previews, I think they will be amazing!  Processing time can apparently take 1-2 months, since about an hour is spent processing each photo. So schedule early - but not too early that you don't have enough time to prep, get inspired and get your hottest outfits (and heels) together!btw- I was able to preview her studio loft space online to get a sense of what to expect, and found it helpful to pore through the tons and tons of her work on her website and facebook pages.  Do it! What can I say about Karina? Thanks to her, I have the BEST wedding photos I have ever seen and believe me, I am very picky. She knows how to make everyone look amazing. Her photos come out perfectly framed and she knows how to take a picture from a flattering angle. Unlike many photographers, whom I have come across at other weddings, Karina went around to every table and took photos of our guests, yet she made the bride, the groom, and our families her top priority. She was extremely diligent and captured every single important moment. I could not believe how many gorgeous photos she took. I was in need of several different styles of photos:  Some for Match.com; a few sexy shots; a head shot for work; and one of me with my favorite dance partner, a stripper pole. I knew it would be a tall order - getting great shots in so many diverse settings.  But the bigger obstacle the photographer would have is being able to shoot ME.  I'm incredibly hard to photograph.  I'm not much of an actor and can't seem to follow directions for photos.  My face freezes right up in a split second, and I can't "be natural" at all.  To top it all off, I'm not, um, young or small.  Anyone can make a beautiful, skinny, model-types look good in photographs, but I'm not only difficult to shoot, I'm 43, and a size 14/16 and had high expectations to get shots magazine-ready!Karina Marie Diaz totally delivered!  My photographs are GORGEOUS!  I wish I could post them for you to view.  My photos make me so happy, and the experience was amazing.  Karina made me so comfortable!  Even the boudoir shots where I was wearing very little were easy to pull off, and I felt totally safe, and at home with her - we had a lot of fun.  I'm definitely working with her again.  I had the experience that I was in my close girlfriend's house, and we were spending the day together and it was all about me.  This might be the gift I give myself every year for my birthday.  Karina is a solid 10 - professional, fun, funny, and produces an extraordinary end product. I'm so excited to finally be able to write this review.  I met Karina about 4 years ago through a mutual friend and once I saw her work at a show, I mentally put the Colette photography session on my list of things to do one day, Karina's work is truly a work of art, I have seen her shows several times and am always in awe in how she's able to capture someones portrait.    It's definitely a treat and something that should be done when you're comfortable and ready to embrace your inner sexy, playful you and celebrate your body.   Karina truly sees the beauty in everyone, is really honest and direct and has a really fun personality that I think is essential for a photographer, especially since we're baring ourselves to her.So I decided to take the plunge before my wedding and do a session.   First of all hands down, my fiance will love this but what a treat for me and I couldn't be in better shape.  So I did a little shopping and looked at her past work to get an idea of what I wanted and then got myself all ready and came over.  I'm very comfortable with my body, being naked for me is fun and natural, and I don't have any major hangups, but the camera does tend to capture the good and the bad, so I was a little worried and self conscious.  This was definitely something new for me, prancing around in lingerie or nude is something I reserve for my man,  so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect and how I would feel.  She made me feel so comfortable and everything about the session was fun.  She has an amazing eye for light, lines and what poses look good, how to get the expression out of you and how to bring the playful side out that I might normally reserve for my fiancee in the bedroom.  I was able to let my mind wonder, laugh, and get lost in a fantasy all during our session. Result: I have about 500 images.  I can't stress enough about the outfits, buy what makes you feel sexy, go out of your comfort zone a bit and have fun with it.  This is what it's all about, no matter who else you're doing this for, you need to do it for yourself first. Now the hard part, how do I chose a few images out of the 500 that will be in my book?  Well Karina did make suggestions, which I pretty much followed, and can't wait to see the book and give it to my future husband. Every photographer has different skills. Some people are great at just capturing moments or feelings.   Karina does something special that's way beyond that; she actually creates moods and experiences. It's like photo alchemy. The results are something out of a dream. Karina herself? Warm. Welcoming. Flexible. And incredibly open to ideas.  One hint: Come bearing things that are special to you as props. This is a review long overdue, but I was slow to jump on the Yelp train. Now that I'm here, I have to say that I love and cherish my photos from Karina. She shot both my wedding and reception (two different events). The photos are amazing. The wedding portraits have such a timeless and elegant quality to them, and although I was so nervous I could barely stand, in the photos I look composed and very happy. Conversely, the reception photos are, appropriately, much more playful. Both sets are gorgeous, and filled with unique moments and intimate exchanges.Most significantly, I do not relish having my photo taking. I'm always the girl lurking in the back, sneering at the camera, or looking like I'm about to sneeze. My facebook photo is a shot of my dog. I avoid cameras like most avoid the dentist. Just not my idea of fun.Karina was great. She really told me what to do (in a helpful, rather than bossy, way). She made me instantly feel at ease, and she took enough photos that even I couldn't mess up them all. For the girl with no good photos, I now have hundreds of stunning photos, and am so glad that such a significant day is captured in such a thoughtful manner. Karina photographed my wedding in 2000 and I love my photos! Me and my Husband Adam were just looking at our pictures yesterday and they look so perfect and timeless. We are so happy that Karina photographed our wedding because after the day is done all you have left are your pictures. My son is now 5 and he loves to see how mommy and daddy got married. Both my husband and I are definitely more than happy to recommend Karina to our friends and have indeed already done so! !!        Of course, like all brides, I wanted to find the right photographer to capture our wedding day, and so it was of great importance that no stone go unturned.        From the moment I contacted her, Karina was (and still is) nothing but a true professional.  When my (then) fiancé and I met Karina in person, there was an instant connection.  Not only were we blown away by the artistry and beauty of her work, but we were just amazed by Karina's attention to details and most importantly her understanding of our vision and our needs.        Karina related to the both of us in a manner that was unexpected and very re-assuring.  Neither my husband nor I enjoy being photographed.  I never doubted Karina's abilities to take beautiful photos, I just doubted our "ability" to photograph well.  But because Karina was so positive and so absolutely capable, she infused in us the belief that we would (and could) have some decent pictures of ourselves.        The end result was amazing and far exceeded all of our expectations.   We both actually enjoy (for the first time in our lives) looking at the beautiful images that Karina captured.  They are beyond decent, even thru our own truly critical eyes.        We absolutely, positively love Karina.  We love her professionalism, her product, and most importantly, the great person that she is.  I doubt that anyone else would have given us the wonderful photographs or experience that Karina has.        Karina has been an absolute joy to work with. Karina is an amazing photographer! I was so lucky that she was recommended to me to do our wedding photos, but I did not realize that I was getting the best photographer there is! From the first moment that my husband and I met her, we fell in love with her. First, she made the whole process super easy, she had patience to explain everything, set our expectations correctly and made us feel at ease. Her professionalism showed through every step, she knows what she is doing and she does it the best. During the wedding day she made me feel like a princess! I first worked with Karina in 2001 for my wedding.  Karina impressed me with her professionalism, talent and most of all, her wonderful personality.  Karina was very observant and she captured all the precious moments of me with my family which I really cherish. Pictures she took of my guests were so beatiful, they made wonderful gifts which I enclosed with the thank-you-cards after the wedding.Now 7 years later, I wanted some business portraits, and also some fun pictures with my two dogs.  No doubt the only photographer I would consider was Karina.  Prior to the portrait session, Karina was very helpful in giving me advice on makeup and choice of outfits. As expected, I was very pleased with the pictures.  I had similar 'glamour shots' taken multiple times in my life but for the first time, who I see in the pictures is the real 'me'.  There was no artificial lighting, no awkward poses, it was simply me (and my dogs) having a great time at the studio.  It was Karina's magical talent of putting all the right elements together to have achieved such great results.I will strongly recommend Karina to individuals who would like to have everlasting memories of themselves and their loved ones.  You will end up with albums that can be family heirlooms, or pictures you'll be excited to share and display!! We wanted to take pictures of our daughter and had heard great things about Karina. Karina invited us to her impressive studio and immediately put us at ease. We were first timers and a little nervous, bringing endless outfits and baby paraphernalia. Not to worry, Karina led us through the process with confidence and grace. We love the way the photos of our daughter came out and we are so grateful to have such beautiful treasures to look at over the years to come. Karina did an amazing job of capturing our daughter's many expressions. When our efforts to illicit yet another smile from our 6 month old weren't enough, Karina jumped in and took over and inspired us to keep going. I can't say enough about the work of this incredible woman, this most talented artist and photographer. It was at a charity event in which Karina was shooting that led me to meet this talented photographer. Perhaps it was my body language, who knows, but within minutes, she said to me "you don't like being in photos, do you?". Uh, how did she know that. Well, with that intuitive statement, and the unspoken confidence that radiated from this woman, I knew I had to sign up to get my photos taken. How thankful I am! Karina has a gift for bringing out the best in how we should feel about ourself. She seems to naturally find a way to have us celebrate our beauty and dare us to fall in love with who we are.
