K9SF and more specifically our trainer Tyler were fantastic. I'm a first time dog owner and I adopted a 2yr old shepherd mix from a local humane society. My dog Molly is very afraid and anxious, she barked, lunged and acted aggressive toward people, dogs, cars, everything. I didn't know the first thing about owning a dog, and heard a favorable review from a friend of mine who boarded/trained his dog with K9SF. What a difference 8 sessions made for us. Molly is vastly different from when we started. The 1hr sessions were perfect for giving me the education on what to work on, what to expect, and they were just enough for Molly to learn without getting burnt out on any one topic. My main goal from the training was to learn what I should be doing to help my dog learn how to behave and be positive while doing so. I've definitely accomplished that. Molly is much calmer, responds to my commands (mostly, work in progress) and is almost a completely different dog from 3 short months ago. I can't recommend K9SF, and specifically their trainers Tyler and Kayla enough. It was a great experience.Molly still has a long way to go, but after training with Tyler, I have no doubt that her and I can continue on our own and we can make progress towards making her comfortable and happy around other dogs and people. Thanks again, to everyone at K9SF,Mike and Molly More...

Have had amazing results working with Milo. He is great at explaining methods in easy to understand ways. Also great at pointing out things I didn’t realize I was doing & needed to change.

I signed my puppy up for 7 training sessions and it is by far the best dog training I have ever done! With previous dogs I went through training at my local dog store, but felt I had issues that were never resolved and were never quite satisfied with how things went. I decided with this dog to spend the extra money and go through a professional trainer. It was well worth the extra expense! The first 4 training sessions were held at their office location going over basic commands. The last 3 sessions were at my home. Not only did I get training on basic commands, K9SF gave us tips on how to find a good daycare and boarding facility, dog parks, and tips when meeting with other dogs. About 1/2 way through our training sessions I called because I was concerned about the dog excessively nipping at my kids. K9SF's response to my concerns went above and beyond, sending not only the trainer but the owner to my home to assess the dog and offer solutions. I would recommend this company to anyone who is serious about spending the time and money to train their dog correctly. Well worth the investment!! More...

We have 2 St. Bernard's and came to K9SF because they were just crazy. Too large for us to control and one was so fearful he was getting aggressive. K9SF taught us how to handle our dogs, and helped us train them up. Now they can walk in the heeling position for an entire walk with almost no incidents. More...

We took our young Corgi to K9SF and they have been a godsend! When we started, I'm embarrassed to say we had not taught her any commands. She was very reactive with other dogs, and would have frequent spats with our older dog. Since training with Ryan and Milo, our sweet little girl has been listening, has significantly overcome her anxiety and reactivity and we have no more sibling issues! They are AMAZING! And they helped to train me (which may have been the biggest feat!) More...

We have recently completed a 16 lesson training package with Ryan and are very pleased with the results. We got our dog from the Humane Society and he knew his name but that was it. In working with Ryan, Max became a very responsive well trained dog. Ryan was always ready to answer questions and has a great sense of what each dog needs. He tackled specific areas of behavior and taught us a great deal about what to expect, how to communicate and ways to shape behavior. More...

We brought our dog Satchel to Ryan and Milo at K9SF in May 2017 for personalized training. They listened patiently to our explanations of the issues and Ryan later gave us his assessment of Satchel's needs and the training required. It was clear from Ryan's feedback that he had listened carefully to us and incorporated what we said into his assessment. We were impressed by his knowledge of dog behavior, his skill in assessing both dogs and clients, and his courteous and professional attitude.

Our sessions with Ryan were fun and very helpful. He was clear and patient in his explanations and offered suggestions concerning the tools and toys that might work best to motivate our dog. His training was also hands-on. He demonstrated techniques and then provided guidance as we tried them. We found Ryan consistent, flexible and patient in his training techniques and in his conversations with us. He also was clear and direct in his assessment of our dog, which helped us work through a few serious issues we faced.

We took advantage of K9SF's Board and Train program with Ryan and were very pleased with the effectiveness of the training and the progress Satchel made. We also appreciated the follow-up session where Ryan demonstrated Satchel's progress and helped us understand the methods we could use to maintain and improve behavior. All around, it was a very good experience for us and for Satchel.

We highly recommend Ryan and K9SF.

We learned of K9SF through the website Thumbtack. Our first visit at the K9SF location in Minneapolis was Feb 12, 2017. We were pleased with the assessment process of our dog’s issues, and their proposed plan to help fix the problems. Ryan and his trainer, Milo, took time to listen to what we had to say about our experiences with our dog. They are professional, experienced in the area of dog training/behavior, and friendly to both humans and dogs. Our dog, Bella, who is a six year old Springer Spaniel, had some long term behavior problems, and some new issues. They recommended that we participate in their Board and Train program; we began the program on Feb 22. Board and Train was designed to allow K9SF have frequent visits for intensive training (kind of like a doggy boot camp) with Bella during a three day stay at Downtown Dogs daycare in Minneapolis. Downtown Dogs is a well-run and an amazing doggy daycare and have a working relationship with K9SF; so they “know the program.” Ryan and Milo were able to work with Bella without any influence by my husband and myself. This allowed them to assess what she is capable of changing, and what confusing messages that we may have been sending to Bella that translated into unacceptable behavior. After this period, we were brought together with Bella and we were then “trained” on how to achieve the desired outcome. Bella has improved in all but one area. Ryan and Milo will continue to help us work on this problem area until it is corrected.

We were impressed on the responsive communication that both Ryan and Milo provided to us during the entire process. They sent us daily updates, along with photos and videos of Bella’s progress. It was obvious to us that Bella was in good hands which helped us relax about the process.

Ryan had recently started up this business in the Mpls area in the last few months. This location is small; however, he has another training center in TN, and has relationships with various dog services in the Twin City area to aid in their venue for training. We were reluctant to take a chance of giving possession of our beloved family member to someone we did not know, but once we met Ryan and Milo, our concerns were soon diminished.

We highly recommend that you consider consulting with K9SF for your dog’s behavioral issues. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a comment to my review and I will get back to you.

Not only did they keep us in the loop every step of the way, but they went above and beyond by sending videos and being incredibly responsive when an unrelated situation arose with our little guy. Our Labradors Brewer (8yo) and Chara (3yo) were both highly reactive, lunged/pulled on the leash so bad it made walks miserable, and barked at anyone and everyone that walked by our house -- they were driving us nuts, even though they are really loving family dogs. In four days, Ryan and Milo had them in a MUCH better place. We have our dogs (and our sanity) back, truly. A few more at-home sessions will get us where we want to be so we can keep up the momentum and build off of the great foundation they started. I can't say enough, I'm so grateful we found them. We always felt investing in training like this would be too expensive, but I'm so glad we did it. In less than a week it's already made a huge difference. If I could put more stars I would. Can't recommend them enough!! More...

When I adopted Fred I found great notes from K9SF’s evaluation and early training sessions with him. I’ve continued Fred’s training with K9SF for two reasons: they volunteer their professional skills to rehabilitate rescue dogs and how well Fred responds to all the trainers we’ve worked with. I work at the daycare/boarding facility that K9SF does their "board and train" service, both Ryan and Milo are very professional and courteous They call the facility ahead of time to let us know which dog they are on their way for which makes it easier for us to get the dog all set. What really impresses me is how genuinely excited these dogs are to see their trainers which says a lot about their work ethic and how they treat the pups. I have and will continue to recommend their services. More...

We will help correct your dog's negative behaviors at the source. Such as: aggressive towards dogs or humans, leash pulling, chewing, greeting new visitors, jumping, etc. The number of classes may vary depending on specific dog issue.
