I absolutely love K9 Positive Training. Courtney, Cynthia, Cheyenne, Christa, John and everyone at K9PT are amazing and have taken such good care of my fur child. We brought home a female German shepherd at 8 weeks and literally brought her to K9PT the day we got her to get the ball rolling. Being that we already have a 9 year old male GSD who isn’t the most well behaved, we knew we wanted to be proactive about her training. She had to wait a couple weeks to get all her shots, but she started at K9PT at about 10 weeks old in the Puppy University program. She has been there ever since! She is such a good girl, and we owe so much to Courtney and her team. She loves going to school every day and seeing everyone there. I’m happy she gets to socialize with both other dogs and people. They listen to any concerns you have about your pup and work to help you address them. They train the humans too...not just the pups! They even take the pups on field trips sometimes (with permission), which is awesome. We take advantage of the classes and puppy socials as well and try to do everything they recommend so we can do what they do at home. They also have another Facebook group where they post pictures and videos throughout the day, and I LOVE seeing what Leia is working on at school while I’m at work. Courtney posts tons of other helpful information on there for puppy/dog owners as well. You can tell Courtney and her team truly care about the pups and their progress! I am extremely happy we started so early and didn’t wait for problem behaviors to arise before contacting them. I fully trust them with Leia, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to train their fur child. I could go on and on, but basically I never want Leia to leave the K9PT family! ❤️ More...

Absolutely amazing experience! My 2 boxer puppies (Ruby 1.5 y/o & Mojo 10 months) had more energy than I knew what to do with. K9PT really helped me learn how to channel their overwhelming energy. We chose to do private lessons at home, to deal with jumping on people, digging, leash skills, impulse control, and much more. We also took Ruby to the facility for Nosework classes. Both of these experiences were extremely rewarding for both dogs, as well as my husband and I. Courtney taught us how to "speak dog" and helped us recognize the importance of patience and consistency. My dogs LOVED the training sessions and were exhausted afterwards. We continue to practice the skills we've learned and it is apparent how eager the dogs are to please when provided with structure. What I thought was going to be a life of wild uncontrollable beasts, has turned a pleasant corner and we are on our way to very well behaved boxers! Courtney has been a blessing to find and has helped my sister and I with our puppy Bam Bam. He has gone through his second round of training with her and just got his CGC. He has improved when it comes to meeting dogs on walks and meeting new people. Courtney has accomodated training if we couldn't meet up with her for a session and always invites Bam Bam to come to lessons in the park if she's there already training. We would let him out to use the bathroom at 3am (because that's what dogs do lol) but then we would have to wait for him to come back in the house for what seemed like forever (he is way too fast to catch) as he barked at the moon, the trash, etc. Now when he goes out at night he does his business and immediately returns to the door. I first learned of Courtney through a Thumbtack request for a trainer to help with my puppy, Bear. She was the only trainer to reply and I am so glad she did. Bear is a rescue who started his life as a stray. He was extremely shy and lacking in confidence in people and other animals. His initial reaction to all new things was to run and hide.
We started with the Basic Obedience class and Bear spent the first three classes literally hiding under a chair. Courtney and Alphonse were very patient with him and eventually he didn't feel the need to hide and even attempted to engage some of the other dogs. It took the six weeks but he finally let Courtney pet him. That was big! Bear's obedience at the end of the class session was much improved but he still lacked confidence.
We decided that day camp training would be a good option for Bear. We had to take things slow because Bear's confidence was very low. Courtney and Alphonse took him for walks around Apponaug and his sensitivity to public surroundings diminished. They worked other dogs into his training and he is not as anxious around other dogs. He still has some issues but I feel much more comfortable bringing him around other dogs. He has come a long way from that first class.
We still have some things to work on with Bear. His new found confidence has led to new issues arising, but with time and patience I am confident we can overcome those as well.
Courtney and Alphonse truly love what they do! They are honest about the time it takes to deal with certain issues, like confidence and trust. They won't put any dog in a situation that they feel it can't handle. You can tell that they love the dogs they are hired to help! I feel very fortunate to have found a trainer like that. And Bear loves them too!

I need to write a review right now! I brought Frank in I think two weeks ago. Frank was becoming "that little dog" that I couldn't bring anywhere. He would growl at big dogs, then he would start snapping at them. He was not social and I couldn't figure out if it was fear, or aggression, or if I'd have to just keep him in the house all the time. I couldn't bring him anywhere without some sort of reaction. Blake evaluated him and suggested it was a confidence issue - so we enrolled him in the 4 week summer camp. I am amazed. I tested him walking down Main Street in East Greenwich, no problem. I brought him out again where there were other dogs - no growls. I tentatively tried a new dog park - he initiated play with a bigger dog, and played happily! Today - we went back to that same dog park where he was sociable, happy, and played for an hour with dogs of different sizes - not one growl. He play bowed, he bounced, ran, smiled. I cannot thank you enough - and highly recommend anyone to K9-Positive training. So glad we found you!!! More...

Dean, My 5 year old, newly adopted Springer Spaniel came into my life with very little, to no training, he was not socialized to other animals and was allowed to chase everything, he did not understand boundaries or commands. So in less than one month of him coming into my life, I found K9 Positive Training, called and set up an evaluation appointment the same week. I met with Courtney and after a few weeks set up Day camp training for 3 weeks. The immediate difference from day one was amazing!! I am absolutely floored and so SO pleased with the results thusfar.

Courtney is very patient with Dean and with me, as a pet parent. She explains what they did, and what they will be working on, and what I need to do as the pet mom to bring the training home to reinforce it positively. She answers any and all questions with no hesitation. Dean is going on his 4th class tomorrow, and he is so much more calm and he is understanding his boundaries he seems to actually love learning. I cannot thank you all enough for your talents and what you all do. Not only are you affordable but you are all amazing at training. I look forward to bringing Dean to more classes and events so he can live and have the best life possible. We adopted a 5-7 month old pittie/hound (beagle?) mix from Abandoned Dogs of RI at the end of November. He is the sweetest mush ever! But... his energy levels are higher than Mount Everest, and he has issues with attachment (he needs to be touching us or at our sides at all times). We have an older dog, Jay, but I became Jay's mom only 6 years ago when I moved in with my boyfriend. I've never trained a dog before adopting Darwin. Courtney was referred to us by The Abandoned Dogs of RI, and I was finally able to start Darwin in February. We did the 6 week basic obedience course and I can't believe the change in this dog. He knows commands, he listens to those commands most of the time (which is a HUGE accomplishment!), and he has calmed down significantly. He doesn't nip as much, he doesn't zoomie run around the apartment as much, and giving him commands gets him to pay attention to us instead of biting or clawing at our hands and legs.

I have him and Jay in private lessons now to work on walking together, leash manners, and calming down around other people and dogs. Courtney is a miracle worker. She is compassionate, patient, calm, friendly, and wonderfully knowledgeable. She doesn't just work with dogs, she works with their humans, too. I need just as much (if not more) training as Darwin and she works with my quirks and personality without frustration. I'm so grateful for her, and I will shout her praise to anyone who will listen
