We ate here today for our first time.... I had the platter with pit beans and potato salad. Potato salad was mustard and egg variety. .. not too wet and not too dry, nice balance... personal preference would be to add sweet relish to it... that's just a personal preference. Pit Beans had some kick to them, but again nice balance sweet to heat. Dry rub ribs with nice flavor, perfect cook. Pulled pork nice flavor and bark, perfectly cooked. House sausage was jalapeno, cheddar in natural casing. Pleasant taste and chew with some heat on the back side. Brisket had good flavor nicely complimented by the rub and smoke, typical resturant trim on the fat, but it was over cooked. Service was good. So in all a pretty good meal. We will be back again. Last night we went to K Block's Fire Pit BBQ in Washington twp & OMG it was outstanding. We had 6 different apps & gumbo - ALL were so good. I highly recommend the shrimp & grits especially for those who hate grits, you will change your mind! Also tried all the smoked meats & fantastic inhouse made sauces, was not disappointed in anything. We all went home full with plenty of leftovers. Also had the apple cobbler, so good. We highly recommend K-Block’s! We had them cater our daughter’s wedding last weekend and the food and service was amazing! Mel was our contact from the beginning and was always available (and SO accommodating) whenever we reached out. On the day of the wedding, Mel and her helper (I’m sorry, I don’t remember his name, but he was great!) arrived nice and early and had everything set up perfectly. They kept a close watch on the food and we never ran low on any item. After dinner, they took care of every part of clean up, too! Our 1st time ordering & the LAST TIME as well!! We DO NOT recommend this place at all!! *****1st issue - We only ordered a beef brisket dinner & a pulled pork sandwich & they were aw! They told me that the brisket dinner came with a corn bread & 1 side so my husband ordered a coleslaw & I said I’d pay extra for the baked beans. It DID NOT COME WITH ANY corn bread or coleslaw but they did remember the beans! *****2nd issue - The pulled pork sandwich had barely any meat & their bun was old & stale! I asked for a side of potato salad & it wasn’t great! I also asked to try a piece of corn bread which of course I had to pay extra. The corn bread is approximately 1 inch x 1 inch so it’s NOT WORTH PAYING for one!!! ******My husband picked this up after golf (we do not live that close) so I tried to call the manager. A rude employee came back to the phone to tell me he’s toooooo busy packing a catering order!!! WHAT A CRYING SHAME TO NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE that our $40+ order was messed up!! Picked up a carryout tonight for family. We hadn't been in quite a while, only because it's not close to us. The food we had previously was good, but tonight's carryout was excellent. They've clearly tweaked the recipes and reduced the amount of smoke flavor. As a family we tried pulled pork, brisket, sausage, pit beans, Mac & cheese and okra. Everything was outstanding. It’s a hidden Jem but not for long! I have to compliment K Blocks I’m a picky SOB when it comes to BBQ and this place gets it. Our waitress Diana did a wonderful job explaining the menu and helping us figure out what to try. The Brisket Ruben was awesome, and the Piggy Mac was spectacular. Brian spent at least a half an hour talking with me about his journey in BBQ and giving the wife and I a rundown of his vision, I got a sense of his passion and believe there are good things on the horizon for K Blocks Firepit. We decided to try this place with some friends after we saw a billboard for it and it was great! Friendly staff, fun atmosphere and the food was delicious! My husband had the burnt ends and I had the brisket tacos (which are hard to come across) and they were great. Worse place First time there. Ordered carry out my fries were soggy. Online jumbo says comes with shrimp and sausage when we got our food the jumbo had one Piece of meat and come to find out it’s chicken their menu online is wrong! Then I call and ask to speak to a manger Natalie decides to put a faker manger on the phone and the lady that probaly is just a waitress answers and argues with me and says their is nothing she can do and when I ask for her name she hung up on me! So I go in and she argued with me and told me theirs no Manger on the floor?? Bad experience definitely cannot run a business and not great food DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Had dinner with family there on Halloween night 2021. We didn’t realize they were closing early for Halloween but the staff didn’t appear to care we were there after closing time. The staff was awesome. Kierston (our server) was absolutely the greatest! We had her laughing and she had us laughing. The atmosphere was great. The food was probably the best barbecue and such I have ever had! The brisket was the bomb!! I wanted ribs but they were out so Kierston substituted with extra brisket and I am so glad she did! The shots we had were awesome as well! I 20 out of 10 highly recommend this place! I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place. On a whim, we stopped here after going to the apple orchard. At first we were hesitant because the place is located in a strip mall. We ordered the nacho appetizer which was just ok. As an entree, we split a meat platter and I have to say, these were some of the best smoked meats I've had locally. The brisket and burnt ends were my favorites.
