NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE THE WORST! After they got our money they did not deliver the service they promised after 3 months long wait. They promised a world before we signed up. Excuses and excuses after we signed up. Everyone is extremely rude after they got our money. You should NEVER hire them and in my opinion if you do you are making a terrible mistake and you will be regretful! More...

Mitch Powers was absolutely outstanding! I reached out to several architectural companies and no one returned my call. Mitch called me back and came out to see our space the same week. He and his team not only created the plans needed for our business but they were also available for follow up. I appreciate JWB Architects so much! They helped to make our dreams come true. More...

BUYER BEWARE!
When looking for an architect, stay away from JWB architects. We were referred to JWB to provide architectural drawings for an outdoor kitchen and patio project.
Their workmanship was wrought with errors that are still being addressed and are costing us thousands of dollars to rectify. Response times, except for sending invoices and asking for payment, were slow requiring multiple calls and e-mails prior to receiving a response. Deadlines were regularly missed and when the product was provided, there were mistakes. There was absolutely NO creativity in designs provided in spite of us providing multiple examples of the look and feel we were trying to achieve.
Finally, their fees were approximately double of what we subsequently have learned it the “going rate” for similar projects.
If there were negative numbers in the rating scale, that would be our rating.

We've met a few architects, but none as professional and courteous as John Burt. He prepared our drawings for Massage Envy and we couldn't be happier. John was there every step of the way and as busy as he was, was always able to return phone calls and emails, promptly. Review of our plans was a breeze with absolutely no need for revisions. His engineers are top notch, get things done fast, and really care about your needs. John even made sure he had people in place to handle my project when he went on vacation. Even then, he was still reachable! If you have a large project and need someone you can absolutely rely on, call JWB Architects--you will not be sorry(like other architects we've hired). He's there when it matters the most. More...

John designed a very custom 4 bedroom 4.5 bath 3800 sq ft "coastal style" two story lake house for us in Kissimmee, FL. John did an excellent job and we are very pleased with his work. His many suggestions and his architectural vision were instrumental in converting our rather general ideas into something that is one of a kind and really beautiful. The way he positioned the house on the lot to preserve the many oak trees and to also take advantage of the lake view is just spectacular. He was very tolerant of our changes and patient with us when when we were indecisive. He paid close attention to our budget. Thanks to John showing us the possibilities we have a 1,000 sq ft rear upper deck, a 4 car garage, an elevator, and 1800 sq feet of unfinished storage space available for future build-out. Working through a project like this in the uncertain 2008 real estate market was difficult. John was a stabilizing influence that gave us the confidence to press forward with our dream. He is absolutely top notch. More...

John Burt provides a detailed set of construction drawings, which we can effectively use as General Contractors. Educated in Chicago with a solid understanding of what is germane to Florida, he is a very good architect that uses both an diversification and practicality in his approach to architecture.

This company designed a church building with a school for us. It was an attractive building, as well as functional. Unfortunately, we never got past the permitting phase of this project because of drop in our funding. The service rendered by JWB Architects was always friendly and professional. More...

JWB Architects was hired to create a renovation plan for my house that included reconfiguration of bedrooms, office, dining room and kitchen. John worked with me on several iterations to ensure that the plan matched my needs and would be functional. The final result was a more functional space that had an updated feel and met my family's needs. More...

We removed ourselves from a relationship with another Architect previously as that company just would not listen or respond very quickly to our requests. However, these guys are GREAT! I really enjoyed the way they took care of me every step of the way. John Burt is the senior Architect and owner and he was with us every step of the way. He is a great listener, extremely patient and very creative. JWB Architects designed a very elegant 5500 sqft home for us in Windermere, FL that we will end up retiring in because we love it so much! I am so appreciative for what they did for us and we get to enjoy it every day! Thank you guys! More...

Q&As

John W. Burt grew up in Northwest Indiana, just outside Chicago where he spent many years, a few decades actually, working for his father’s construction company and gained much of his knowledge of construction in both residential and Mid-Rise commercial buildings. He went on to attend Ball State University where during his stay he earned two degrees within the Architecture Program and won the thesis design award named “CSI Thesis Medal Award” for the most constructible thesis design, among hundreds of graduates. After graduation he was recruited as a lead designer by one of the largest architecture firms in the state, located in Indianapolis, IN. He grew his portfolio quickly with such clients as DePauw University, Eli Lilly and Duke Realty.

He and his family moved to Orlando in 2004 and shortly thereafter he founded JWB Architects.

Day one he was working solo out of a 10′ x 10′ guest bedroom which had a queen size bed as well as his desk. He had to use the adjacent closet to store the computer, printers and large format plotter on the top closet shelf. This wouldn’t last long. His passion for creativity and dedication to clients needs, including timeliness of delivery caught on like a wild fire and allowed him much success very early on. He moved the family into a decent sized house the following year which allowed him two full rooms for the home office. Just a year later he had five employees working out of those back rooms feeling cramped and ready to move out.

Since then JWB Architects has grown into large practice where several architects and their support staff take on the challenging and demanding needs of their clients with passion, creativity and plenty of room to grow. Projects ranging from not only Central and South Florida, but states between Michigan and South Carolina to the British Virgin Islands and Bahamas.

We are commercial and residential architects offering practical, modern, clean designs. JWB Architects has grown into large practice where several architects and their support staff take on the challenging and demanding needs of their clients with passion, creativity and plenty of room to grow.
