About

I offer great tutoring at a reasonable price. I have experience with the SAT, SSAT, ISEE, LSAT, and other tests, and not only understand how to take the tests, but how to teach the material to students in a way they can understand. I can answer questions that relate to test prep and academic subjects that only a person with "real world" experience can give - such as "Why do I need to know this stuff, anyway?

Mr.Linneball, is a wonderful tutor. My son loves to work with him. My son is very picky of the teacher I was very happy when John worked for him. John helped my son with SAT preparation and it boosted my sons score by 200 points. John is very hardworking and very accommodating of the students availability. John is now helping my son with writing college essays and he is a great help. I would highly recommend John to anyone looking for SAT tutoring or college essay writing. More...

John helped my son with ACT preparation (mainly English), earlier this year (2017). John has an excellent understanding of the subject matter (SAT & ACT), lucid in his explanation of complex questions, very empathetic to a student's requirements (do you need to move your ACT scores from 25 to 30, 32 to 35, etc) and extremely flexible with his timings. ..this was critical as my son was busy with out of school activities and John was willing to move his schedules at the last minute. I rate him as a great tutor and completely worth the fees paid. More...

John was fantastic with my son's ACT preparation.  My son had taken the ACT a number of times and studied on his own, getting a 28 multiple times.  He was frustrated and was open for help.  We hired John based on recommendations from my son's friend in high school.  My son scored a 32 and increased his ACT score 4 points.  The results speak for themselves, cannot say enough good things about John.  He was always on time and stayed the full time we agreed to.  We only utilized John for a 1 week prep right before the test.  I believe if we had utilized John for a longer period of time, my son would have scored higher.  Great job John! John worked with my brother for the SAT, who was academically unmotivated. After a month with John, my brother ended up scoring a 2100! I worked with John when I was studying for the GRE and he was very helpful. He is extremely smart and although he has not taken the GRE, could probably score in the 99th percentile. He tutored me specifically in the math section, a subject that I absolutely hate. However, John simplified the math problems and made it very easy to understand. He also has a quirky sense of humor which makes the tutoring sessions less serious. He is very a accommodating  with scheduling More...

Q&As

This may sound clichéd and cheesy, but it's true. I enjoy reaching young minds and helping people of all ages learn and get ahead in life. It's nice to help someone learn a needed skill at a crucial time in life - what a person learns while young can open doors to a new world of opportunities, and provide needed skilled people to the world.

I knew I wanted to do something different from what I was doing for work, and realized I'd rather do things my way than someone else's. I also didn't appreciate that some services for which I worked were charging about 3 times what I was paid for tutoring (apparently their marketing was worth twice the value of the actual work? I don't think so...). With online services available, there really was no need for me to work for someone else.

I genuinely care about providing great tutoring at a fair price. If I don't know something, I won't try to BS you; I'll let you know and find out. If I think I didn't do a good job on something, I'll refund your money for that session. It doesn't happen often - check my reviews on Yelp, Thumbtack, etc. (Hint: Unfortunately, Yelp has hidden most of my reviews as "Not Recommended" - please read those reviews as well as the 3 they have on my main page- scroll to the bottom).

I'll come to your home or meet you at a library or coffee shop. I don't rent or own expensive office space that YOU would pay for through higher costs.
