What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
First and foremost, we need to listen to the client, ask questions and determine what exactly they are looking for. Ultimately, we are here to provide you with great images. If they don't meet your expectations because we didn't listen, we have failed.
We can talk about lighting, timing, posing and shooting styles- everything we do on our end to make a great image but it starts with the client.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What type of photos are you looking to obtain?
How are you planning to use the images? (In ads, website, social media, printed pieces?)
What type of format do you want the finished images on? (Digital? Printed pieces?)
Timelines and deadlines
Are we trying to replicate / duplicate a certain look (think of corporate headshots where we need to match backgrounds and lighting styles)
How may individuals need to be included in the shoot date?
Do we need to shoot outdoors / indoors?
If indoors, tell me about the facility?
Are there any restrictions or permitts we need to obtain.
What do you love most about your job?
I capture images for my clients (parents, families and players) that will last a lifetime!
What inspired you to start your own business?
A few years ago, after scanning all of my old family photos, I discovered that there was only one photo of my entire athletic career! No shots of me hitting a homerun, winning tennis tournaments or even playing a game of basketball. When my son started playing sports, I wanted to make sure we captured the moments with Action Sports Photography.
I've been in media for more than 35 years (mostly in Television and Digital Media). DL Action Sports enables me to provide players, parents andf families with a precious memory of their athletic careers.
