Finding a personal trainer for my husband was tough, but I am so glad I chose Jeff and so was my husband. Jeff had a new client special that I took advantage of. I initially purchased five lessons with Jeff per request of my husband for his birthday (just to clarify the lessons were for my husband, not for me...that would be kind of an odd birthday gift to ask for). My husband had some experience working out at the gym but hadn't gotten into a routine for some time. So my husband thought he could meet with Jeff once a week to have a workout and then get a workout plan for the rest of the week for five weeks total. However, after an initial discussion with Jeff, he had taken Jeff's advice to meet three times per week instead. What a huge difference this made! Every lesson Jeff took time prior to the workout to talk about how the diet was going and what the next steps could be for improvement. Never did my husband feel pressured to lie about what he was eating or doing outside of the workouts and never did my husband feel judged on decisions that may not have been in line with what Jeff recommended. After the second workout, my husband was convinced to start a twelve week program (36 lessons total) with Jeff. Each workout was tailored specifically to my husband's development. They worked out at a park that was near our place and Jeff was extremely flexible on the schedule/location. Each workout was tightly focused using free weights and Jeff's "stimulate, don't annihilate" approach allowed my husband to not feel tortured the next day with excessive soreness (he still had some soreness since he was breaking down muscle tissue). In all the years of training or playing sports, my husband said he hasn't seen the type of change that occurred with Jeff. The only downside was that it had to end because we couldn't afford to keep the program going. My husband now has a much better idea on how to combine weight training, cardio and diet and attributes it to the time spent with Jeff this past summer. I worked with Jeff about a year ago and was on his program for about 6 months. I was 54 at the time and lost 45 pounds working with Jeff's program, which got me right where I wanted to be weight wise. More importantly, I felt much stronger, more fit, and able to perform the sports I love, namely racquetball and mountain biking.I've worked out for most of my life and thought I was pretty well-versed on how to do so. That turned out to be false. Jeff really knows how to take you from where you are to where you want to be. Doctors would call that "meeting the patient where they are". He's constantly educating you on proper technique, how your body really works, and giving you tricks to maximize your time in the gym and to make your calories count. Much of this comes from his time competing as a body builder, but is not overly burdensome. Having said that, you will need to put in the work and embrace a measure of dietary discipline... no surprises there.Jeff is not one of these run-of-the-mill gym trainers marking off sets and reps on a checklist. He knows when you are hurting and when you are holding back, and will push you right to that line without allowing you to injure yourself. It really is uncanny that he knows to stop you at just the right rep... no more counting to 10, that means nothing! Jeff will work with your schedule, is always on time and never canceled a scheduled session with me.If getting in shape is just a passing interest, use a gym trainer or a friend.
