I moved into an apartment in old town and wanted to take it to the next level. Jake made a design plan that used my current furniture in the most unexpected ways creating a big impact in what is a small space. I can't believe what a difference his ideas made. Will definitely work with him again the second I move into a new place. More...

Q&As

1
INSPIRE
The Interview process will be a collaborative series of meetings and conversations aimed at learning about the client, identifying their needs, developing a clear scope of work, defining roles and responsibilities, organizing a list of deliverables, discussing financials, and projecting unforeseen challenges.

2
DESIGN
Following the interview process is our design stage. During this step, the designer will spend time brainstorming, researching and conceptualizing your design strategy. This will also include making selections and creating design presentation boards with sketches and renderings to illustrate design concepts.

3
PRESENT & SELECT
Presentations will occur throughout the design process. Your designer will schedule presentations to communicate and share their ideas to collaborate, edit, and evolve them with you. Through multiple iterations and collaborations the design program will be refined so that a final design can be agreed upon.

4
PLAN & PURCHASE
Once your design is settled, additional planning will take place to organize and confirm details, engineer custom elements, hire and delegate tradespeople and make arrangements for the perfect implementation.

5
INSTALL
To execute the design, some clients choose to participate themselves, and others choose to have their designer manage, coordinate, and install the entire project.

6
REVIEW
The review process occurs at the end. Walkthroughs will be scheduled to tackle all remaining punch list items. When perfection is achieved, we will style and photograph the design before discussing a maintenance plan to ensure its integrity over time.

TRADE RESOURCES

To me there is dual meaning in the word "interior". Clearly, it distinguishes the spaces I design. Less obviously, it defines my focus: each client's inner realm of memory, feelings and dreams. That's why the spaces I design are so different from one another. Rather than proclaiming one signature style, each design reflects a different soul. Each is, accordingly intimate.

Finding solutions to my client's problems is the most rewarding aspect of my job. Often design is an overwhelming and complex puzzle, I love when I am able to take a difficult puzzle from my client's hands and come back with solutions that they would never have thought of.

Team work and collaboration are also incredibly important to me. I offer design services not only to homeowners, but to contractors, tradespeople, and other designers as well. Having the privilege of working in groups to accomplish greater things than any one individual could do on their own is also quite rewarding for me.

I grew up in rural Iowa surrounded by a large family in the housing industry and related trades. At an early age I was interested in art, architecture, technology, and entrepreneurialism and began drafting CAD floor plans, generating 3D renderings, and making custom artwork as a "side" business at the age of twelve.

Following graduation I worked briefly for one of the most reputable flooring showrooms in Chicago, where I was discovered and hired by a small design firm with 25+ years of experience. By absorbing, networking and applying my skills I was able to build a client base strong enough to transition out of full-time employment and into my dream pursuit of owning my own design firm.

l say, lets meet for coffee and see if we are a good fit. No matter how skilled a designer may be, a successful project always starts with good chemistry!
