Good, local BBQ spot. The fish is fried to perfection, and each seafood meal comes with hush puppies- which I love- and two sides. The collard greens are tinder and seasoned well. I opted for an a-la-cart order of rib tips, with both mild and hot BBQ sauce. I feel they are a bit over priced, but the portions are a good size, and above all, the food taste good. The BEST BBQ on the West Coast! Being from the South, I’m very particular about my BBQ. J & J’s exceeded my expectations. The food was good, I bought fried oysters, fried red snapper, pork ribs, rib tips and hot links. The fish was excellent, the ribs were a lil dry, but still good. The sides were greens, yams, mac and cheese, and black eyed peas. The service was just ok. I feel the customer service could definitely be improved upon. The credit card/cash register crashed and the female server was busy on the phone trying to get help to getting it back on, it took quite a while for someone to come from the back to help us with bringing out the rest of our food. The owner didn't seem to care that there were 3 tables of dine-in patrons. He made no effort to speak to any of us, or offer any assistance. When someone finally did come from the back to help us, he was very friendly, a showed a willingness to serve. I'm someone who eats out a lot, so I'm pretty big on customer service as well as good food, I'm not sure if I would dine in again. I felt the owner could of kicked in and helped make the patrons feel comfortable and valuable, maybe they should consider having a minimum of 2 servers available for the dine-in guests.
