I am a lifelong sushi aficionado and have dined at the finest sushi restaurants around the world from Kyoto and Tokyo, Japan, to Los Angeles, Aspen, Colorado and New York City. Sadly, Santa Fe hosts a handful of the worst I've ever experienced. Happily, with the opening of Izmi Sushi Bar on Marcy street this is all in the past. It is world class in practically every way a sushi experience can be had - from the skilled craftsmanship and warm, elegant selection of a bona fide true Sushi master Nori san to the casual, but charming Izakaya decor. Went here twice looking for new sushi places since I recently moved to the area and had amazing experiences both times. On the second occasion they actually remembered my wife and I and even surprised me with a free dessert after hearing it was my birthday. Definitely love them

This small sushi bar is a reliable place to go if you want your standard sushi menu. We have been going to this restaurant for years- it's nothing super fancy, but it's always good, we can always get a table, there's usually street parking nearby, and the service is attentive and friendly. They are generous with the fish, it's always fresh and tasty, and their other menu items are excellent as well. I have tried many of the sushi restaurants in town but I always go back to Izmi- brand loyal. Locals tip: if you're lucky, you might see someone famous sitting at the bar. More...
