Another amazing night at here, we reserved a green house which was so pretty & like being in a private room.  The food was amazing! ! I had the buratta ravioli that my daughter loves and its become my new favorite!! I also introduced some other family members to it and they were equally amazed.  Hubby had the linguine with clams and shrimp.. excellent and several people ordered the branzino which was outstanding! Ofcourse the drinks are always a treat. I fell in love with the pumpkin martini and I've never been a martini fan!  Great night, thank you Ita your chef, staff and place is amazing More...

I saw this place all over Instagram and had very high expectations for the food and honestly mostly the ambiance. The vibe of the place looked very cute out front, but when walking in the floor is completely unfinished. Maybe they are in the middle of a remodel- I am not sure. This completely made my entire group very confused for such a "nice" and expensive place. Luckily, the food was delicious and the server was awesome. More...

Saturday, the 28th of August, my wife and I had a very interesting dinner.  We decided to stop for dinner at ITA Kitchen in Bay Shore. We chose to eat outside because the inside restaurant was not amenable to social distancing. The outside eating area was divided into an umbrella covered terrace area, two small tents with a large table in each and a party tent. The menu does not offer many choices; enough, but not many.  Something that, over the years, I have found to be a big plus. The waitress that seated us arrived quickly to take out drink order.  My wife chose a Pinot Grigio and I a Moscato wine. Along with the wine  came a crusty Italian bread that was delightfully crunchy. For an appetizer we shared the fried calamari and the backed clams.   The calamari come in two flavors, hot and not.  I like mine mild.  The appetizers were delicious.  The calamari were abundant, the clams not as much.As my main entree, I ordered the gnocchi in a marinara sauce and had asked to have the ricotta put on the side.  I had not known that the gnocchi were going to be filled a ricotta based filling.  A delicious serendipitous coincidence.  The marinara was a velvety fresh sauce that complemented the moist, cooked perfectly, gnocchi.  My wife ordered the linguini with clams and shrimp.  Of course we exchanged a "forchettata" - a forkful of our entrees.  The linguini will be my next meal at ITA Café.  If you do not like garlic, steer clear of the linguini.  However, if you enjoyed your linguini and clams the way the Neapolitans do, then this is the place to go!Of course, as soon as we started to eat it began to pour.  The umbrella was good but not enough.  Regrettably, we cut the dinner short without trying the coffee or the sweets.  All for another visit. The takeaways:1. Good food at a good price.2. Nice wine selection.3. No parking for the restaurant.4. Restaurant does not have a large indoor       dining area for social distancing. More...

Vodka Grilled cheese 8.7/10 missing something to make it a 9 can't put my finger on it. Baked chicken parm 9.1/10 missing little something but when you add some parm cheese and red paper flakes it boosts it from a 9 to a 9.1We got no bread everybody in the whole restaurant got bread and oil aside from us. People next to us and around us ALL got bread and oil and we didn't. I even went to the extent of looking at each individual table. I honestly was trying my hardest to not give a bad review but the service at the bar was horrendous. I'm not sure why we were excluded from everyone else from service from the lack of bread and oil to lack of checking up on us whether it's because we look young, an interracial couple or she just flat out didn't like us, but the overall review is that the food was great. This was my second visit to ITA.  My friend and I ate here when they first opened and it was less than stellar.  We decided to give it another try and were disappointed once again.  We were seated at our table outside promptly.  The patio is beautiful and music relaxing.  Our waiter came over to take our drink orders and tell us the specials.  We thought wow, they've redeemed themselves but were so wrong.  Our waiter and drinks were nowhere to be found.  However, the table across from us, who had several people, was not only seated 10 minutes after us but already got their drinks!  We flagged someone down to see what happened.  He didn't know but went to find out.  Our waiter came over and said he didn't know where the drinks were.  Then proceeded to go to the other table and take their dinner order!!  Are you kidding me??  The host brought them over which were watered down at this point and didn't taste good.  He said this round was on him, (host), which was very nice of him but honestly at this point we were concerned about how our dinner was going to come out?  The waiter passed my friend and gave her a dirty look so we just got up and left.  I'm completely baffled and upset by this.  Listen, I get that restaurants are understaffed.  We were trying to have a $200 dinner but I guess they didn't want our money.  From a business standpoint, I blame this on poor training from management.  I work in a tough industry as well but I would never, ever treat a client this way.  Maybe they have regulars that will keep them afloat but I will never give them any business nor will I recommend them.  Bad move as I have a graduation and other events that I need to book but they lost that business as well.  Luckily we found a table at Butera's and had fantastic food and service and the owner even came out to greet us.  Now that is a how you treat customers, pandemic or not. Their most notable ricotta gnocchi dish was over cooked & lacked a lot of flavor. The ravioli wily was so salty with a crowned mozzarella that wasn't even melting when you pulled it apart as advertised. Their baked clams & risotto balls were great. Bread wasn't. I'm really upset to have to write this review. My friend I came here about a month ago and we had an excellent experience- our server (bald, beard) was great, food was great. We came back tonight really excited to return and couldn't be more disappointed. First, I sat down and my plate and fork were dirty. There was a green leaf wrapped around the top of the fork and there was what looked like burrata or ricotta leftover on a plate. I put it to the side and didn't say anything- it happens. We ordered our food promptly because we were informed by the server we must place everything together- fine. Our app came out quickly and it was great. Then, we waited about an hour, maybe more for our entrees. While we sat and chatted, we didn't mind so much. However, 4 different individuals- the server Besy, two busboys, and the hostess who apparently was the manager, came over inquiring if we ate yet. Our server asked us 3 times. One busboy with long shaggy hair asked twice, but the second time blamed a large party outside. Now, we had been sitting there for quite some time. We watched the restaurant empty out, but we also watched guests who arrived after us receive and finish their meals as we waited extensive time for our food. Also, when you have multiple individuals coming up to you that work there asking YOU where YOUR food is- don't you start to wonder? Long story short, we didn't believe this excuse as we had made our several observations. Not to mention, the "large party" walked out through the restaurant about 3 minutes after we heard that excuse, and we didn't get our food for another 30 minutes after we left. We were really disappointed in how the situation was handled- unprofessionally. The hostess who is supposedly the manger offered us a free round of drinks or dessert- we denied the drinks as we live a half hour away and were done with our meals by the time this was offered. We asked what the dessert options were, she shared what she knew of from memory, told us that she would find a menu and give it to us, and never did. We bought this up to our server and she shared the manager left for the night- so she left without giving us a dessert menu and without asking us what we wanted for dessert after she offered it to us? This really shows you care for your customers and their satisfaction.  On top of that, Besy our server included that she couldn't give us any discount because the manager left. This was a really disappointing experience. I worked in the hospitality business for many years before starting my career and this was a shame. We really love the food here, we had great service our first time, but this time was an absolute 360 from the first time. After having customers wait an hour for their food, something should be done as recognization and an apology without placing blame on whatever the excuse was. We wish everything was handled differently and we would consider returning, unfortunately this wasn't the case. More...

My husband and I arrived at ITA Kitchen at 3:59 pm on a Friday.  Right as they were opening.   We sat in outside area that's as in an alley.  It was simple and charming.   A cutting board with sliced Italian bread was immediately brought to the table accompanied by seasoned oil.  Honestly, the bread was hard seemed to be stale.   I mentioned it to the waiter and he brought a new batch, which was the same.   (Maybe that's the way they meant it to be). We ordered the eggplant Marco for an appetizer.   It was hearty and absolutely delicious.   That alone was worth the visit.  For my entree I ordered the ricotta gnocchi.  The sauce was very rich and tasty, although I felt like the entree needed something else to compliment it like broccoli or roasted red peppers.   Something to absorb the sauce.  My husband had the chicken alla vodka dish.   He felt that it was good, not great.   So overall, I would return for the appetizer!!! The honeymoon is over! Every single time we eat here they screw up the order. First time I ordered the gnocchi and they gave me the GTFO. I was ok with it because it was delicious. The next time they forgot the mozzarella crown on my dish, again not that big of a deal but I did order it with so it's still a strike against them. Tonight was the last straw! We're seated and the waiter introduces himself, I think his name was Alex, and asks if we want drinks. So we rushed to order them. My wife gets her drink in about 2 minutes. My iced tea takes about 20 minutes, we had already started to eating our appetizer at that point. My wife ordered the catch of the day but we told the waiter we wanted it made oreganata style instead of the tomato sauce with olives, capers and anchovies. Our food comes out and guess  what, her fish is in the tomato sauce. We inform the waiter and he said he thought she wanted the fish encrusted with oreganata. WHAT???? So now I start to eat my meal and he says it'll be right out. WHAT? Right out? How? Needless to say that I was done eating by the time my wife's food came back. Which included the clams and shrimp that were obviously cooked a second time and extremely rubbery. My baked chicken vodka parm was kinda dry. I ordered extra mozzarella based on the pictures I've seen and while there there was enough cheese it appeared to be the sliced kind of mozzarella because it was extremely thin and plastic looking. The waiter comes back to see if I want and grated cheese and I say yes. He puts one small spoonful on my dish and starts to walk away. I ask if I could have the cheese on the table and he leaves it. I've never been to an Italian restaurant that doesn't have grated cheese on the table for the customer to use while eating their meal. Do we want dessert? Are you joking? We asked for the check and left a $6 tip for a $93 bill which was probably too much of a tip because he didn't deserve a penny. Maybe if they hired staff that actually pays attention to the customer I would consider going back but that's not likely to happen based on our experiences here. Very sad. Also they should get rid of those horrible metal chairs that you can barely fit your butt in, it's not a cheap place so why the crappy chairs? There's plenty of competition out there ITA kitchen. I first heard about ITA Kitchen from an Instagram post my favorite butcher posted.  I quickly secured a reservation for my foodie group and looked forward to dining there once I perused their menu.  After a 3 hour commute in teeming rain, I easily found a spot in the bus depot lot nearby and made my way in.COVID restrictions are loosening up, and while I walked in with a mask (I didn't know their mask policy), I soon saw that the two people working at the host stand did not have masks on.  It was a mixed bag with staff, some wearing them and some not.  This is our new normal thanks to so many people being vaccinated.  Tables were spaced apart and the main dining area is roomy, with the ductwork in the ceiling exposed, or what I like to call "industrial chic".  THE GROWS:  The comfort of the seating leaves a lot to be desired.  I don't expect to settle in to a seat and take a nap, but the cushions in the booth seats were awful.  My group of 6 were seated in a booth located in a small alcove, but the one cushion that spanned across was slanted and the floor looks like concrete with an epoxy glaze.  So after a few moments of sliding down in the seat, my feet sliding on the floor and me tightening my core in order to stay seated, I knew that this would not be a comfortable space to enjoy a meal, much less one I had been planning and looking forward to all week.  I asked for a change of table and we were accommodated.  The next time I dine here, I will be sure to wear rubber soled shoes and a clothing material that is not too smooth.  Sounds crazy to put this in a dining review, but had I stayed at the table, I wouldn't be able to say what I am about to regarding their food.  Love the decor, hate the seating options.THE GLOWS:  Each and every person on staff was friendly and no matter what was requested, they were able to accommodate (allergies, replacement utensils, refills, etc.).  Seconds after sitting, we were given fresh water, and a dish with 6 bunches of bread--a welcome touch which meant each of us got 3 small slices without having to wrestle a loaf and all put our hands on something the rest of us would be eating.  A bottle of olive oil with seasoning was also given to us.Our server reviewed the specials in detail and was well-versed in the dishes offered on the menu.  He answered all of our questions and promptly took our orders.  Most of us ordered the rabe and sausage egg rolls with cherry pepper aioli.  If you don't like spicy, ask for the sauce on the side, since it is served with the sauce generously poured on top.  Beyond the beautiful presentation of this dish, the quality of the sausage and broccoli rabe stuffing was superior.  My tablemate got the sauce on the side and I happily added more to mine because if you are a spicy food lover, this sauce is divine. For our entrees, several of us ordered the chicken ala vodka, which came out in its own individual cast iron skillet.  A huge pounded breaded cutlet was served atop penne vodka, with melted fresh mozzarella atop, covering the entire dish from edge to edge.  To say I loved this dish is an understatement.  My friends also boasted about the eggplant tower and meatballs, as well as the spicy rigatoni entree.  All of our entrees were served with a sophisticated presentation, all plates were hot, and the food itself was memorable.  Portions are extremely generous.  I have a large appetite and was only able to eat half of my entree.  Our server was attentive and brought us to-go containers.  Since I was impressed with the chef's vision, menu, and so far the food, I opted to have dessert, despite being full.  I asked my server how the coffee was, and he told me, "I am a coffee snob and I love it."  A man after my own heart.  I ordered a cup of coffee, which came out in a large mug with cream and sugar.  The desserts are all made in-house.  Our server told us briefly our options:  coconut tartufo, fried rainbow cookies, cannoli-stuffed crumb cake. He mentioned some others, but those three were the show-stoppers. Seconds after my coffee was delivered, they placed our desserts in front of us.  The crumb cake with cannoli stuffing was huge, large enough to share.  The crumbs were over an inch thick, the cake part was fresh and moist, and the cannoli stuffing was creamy and not overly sweet.I will definitely be returning, albeit in different footwear so I don't go sliding across their (beautiful) floor.  Highly recommend.  I am looking forward to sampling more of the chef's menu and I might throw in a brunch experience, too.  High-quality food for a midpoint price.  I say that is a perfect combination.
