WOW! Delicious! Was in the area for kids sports. Wanted food that was not fast food. Not easy to find in the specific area! Saw Istanbul Gyro and looked it up on line. Comments were great so we tried it! Had the Donor which is authentic Turkish Gyro along with Falafel pita and Turkish salad. It was so good. The flavors were wonderful and it was not a huge garlic hit. The Donor was tender and so much better than the usual prepared Gyro meat you usually see in restaurants. We topped it off with delicate Baklava. Sadly I had to share with my dinner companions! You must try this restaurant. It's a hidden gem and very clean too! More...

So my husband and I met in Izmir Turkey.  We went to the American DODD school of Izmir High home of the Sultan's.  Our father's were stationed there.  My mother is from Ankara Turkey.  I grew up almost all my childhood in Izmir.  I was so pleased after being in Oregon after 10 years we found our Diamond in the rough.  ISTANBUL GYRO RESTAURANT!  Great food, great prices.  We will be back every other week God willing.  It's a nice little restaurant from home. This food is so good, we ordered from IG two nights in a row. We've had several different dishes and every single one was great. (I'm addicted to the pides - delicious and BIG portions.) Our favorite Middle Eastern place ( I am looking at you Cedars) ran outta food Saturday pm so we ordered take out from here. Next closest place and I had been wanting to try it. I called in a falafel plate, hummus, a chicken plate, Turkish salad, and baklava. The food was ready when we arrived. The place is in a basic  Aloha strip mall. It is probably more of a takeout place. The baklava didn't make it in the bag. We called when we discovered that and asked if they could bill it back to our credit card and were told no, we could come get it next time. Ok. The food was good. I liked the falafel and the red cabbage slaw kind of salad that came with it. The chicken plate was tasty, the chicken kind of smokey, the rice was good, it came with the same slaw. The hummus was creamy, good and plentiful. But. It came with one pita. One. I am so tired of the pita or hummus shortage at middle eastern places. I cannot believe how a cheap food is rationed. ( see my Gyro House review for the full rant). Have you MET teenagers? one pita? The menu should indicate more than " comes with pita." It should note how many and how much $ more will get you a better bread to hummus ratio. Or just charge more and give people 3 dang pitas. The turkish salad consisted of  lemony marinated onions, tomatoes, and cucumber chunks. It was very similar to the other salad/slaw. Good. But I liked the red cabbagey stuff better. Anyway. Overall the food is tasty. A little salty. A little expensive maybe. But good. I liked the falafel and hummus a lot. My chicken and rice fan was happy. Guess we will be going back for the baklava. The Doner Wrap was delicious. The doner meat, the house marinaded meat, was well seasoned and tender. I'm no gyro connoisseur but I couldn't tell the difference between the doner and regular gyro meat. Also, the wrap was a tortilla. Â I expected a lavash wrap since this a Turkish restaurant. Best Mediterranean food I've ever had! sooo delicious. The place is nice and employess as well.no wait times.will definetly eat again in here. They served some of the best halal meals and I had their signature dish lahmacun a Turkish pizza on a thin layer dough with minced meat . Staff members were very friendly and attentive. We had an important meeting scheduled with our board and our clients at a local hotel. We were referred to Istanbul Gyro from a friend. Criteria was; delicious food, punctual staff, and being the food would be enough for everyone and hot at meal time. Istanbul Gyro got it all right. Thankful to them for the great food served on time. Good lamb gyro, icli kofte, and 1/2 Turkish salad. We would definitely go again and try other items. We didn't care for the baklava with pistachios, but will try the walnut ones next time. Clean establishment.

Decent spot for a gyro and fries. Quick friendly service with fair prices and easy parking in a shared lot. Lamb and beef gyro has good flavors, meats were tender and veggies were crisp. I had lunch here today, and the food was excellent: both lamb and ground beef kebabs were great, with perfect rice and a traditional Turkish salad served on the same plate. The lamachun (Turkish pizza) and the doners are for real here! Just like in Turkey! What a revelation to come across this place in Oregon! Friendly service, reasonable prices, nice cold water from a cooler for free and the backlava and rice pudding are quite good too. If this place was in Bend, I'd eat here 3x per week! Visiting OR from Seattle for two days. We had a 1 star experience at a different restaurant the first night and a 5 star experience our last night. We drove from Portland to try Istanbul Gyro and are glad we did. We ordered the Iskender, Lahmacun, Pide and Kofte platter. All of them were authentic and delicious. The owner was friendly, the service fast and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend to others especially fellow Turks who may be homesick for an authentic Turkish meal. More...
