Iowa City Dog Walker & Pet Care

Our dog Kira is very particular about who she feels comfortable with. Either my wife or I have to be around for her to be comfortable, especially when she’s outside of our house. She won’t even play with our neighbor’s dog unless one of us is there with her - she will stop playing and follow us if we dare walk into the house, even if there’s a glass door and she can clearly see us. However, it’s a completely different story if she’s with Maura, Markie, or Christopher. She absolutely loves and trusts them. As soon as she hears the car pull up outside, she’s at the door waiting for them. If she could, she’d be out exploring with them all day long. They pick her up for walks and adventures every weekday. Since Kira is a rescue and is incredibly nervous and miserable in new environments, it is impossible for us to board her in a kennel. She would be miserable and there’s no way we could do it to her. Luckily, Pet Friends Pet Care offer house visits when we are on vacation. We get daily updates with pictures. Sometimes throughout the day. It’s lovely to see pictures of Kira snuggling up to Maura and Markie, or getting texts saying how Kira slept in their bed all night. It takes away the guilt of leaving her while we’re on vacation. Maura at Pet Friends Pet Care is a Godsend! My partner and I both have dogs and were desperate for help to acclimate them so we can all coexist in a fairly small space. She has been working with our pups and us several times a week. Not only that, in the beginning of our relationship she worked with me directly with my partner's dog who is very protective of her Mom. Once E and I were cool, we brought in my little Olive and have made incredible progress in a very short time. Maura has a special gift, I call her the dog whisperer. I have complete trust in her and know Olive will be safe anytime she goes out with Maura or her teammates and the other dogs for playtime whether I am with her or not. I think maybe I need more training than Olive!! Maura has really put me at ease to let Olive do her thing and not hover or get scared when she starts playing hard with the other dogs because she's little. That's what they do! I couldn’t recommend enough. My dog is a different dog because of Pet Friends Pet Care. The things that make them such an excellent service provide are the following: I know my dog, Effie, truly enjoyed her day when she’s out with them; Effie enjoyed her day because of the small ratio of dogs to worker to provide the attention and support that is needed for feel confident and safe (which is why I know she enjoyed it); and they have bond with Effie - I know she’s with people who genuinely love her. I can't say enough about Maura! She has been our trusted caretaker for our pup for 6 months and has never let me down! She is always reliable and flexible with my ever-changing schedule. She also cares for our pup like we would which is such a comfort when we are away from him! I always get photo and text updates and know our pup is in great hands with her. He's made so many friends and Maura is great about pairing similar puppies up - I credit her that he has developed a healthy social nature and comfort around other dogs.
