To put it kindly, we were terrified to having someone take our picture. Especially for SUCH a big day! I think our biggest fear about getting pictures done was that it would feel uncomfortable and totally fake. We could not have been more wrong!!! Erika made us feel like we were just on a normal date night and someone just so happened to be taking pictures of us! It was natural and comfortable and we really can't imagine having anyone else there with us throughout this journey! Our favorite part about this entire wedding photography experience is just how easy it was to work with Erika. She was always available if we had questions, was super flexible with our schedules (and the weather!), and when it came time for the big day, she made everyone feel so at ease. I remember my mom saying the next day after the wedding how super impressed she was with Erika. She said something along the lines of she is like your best friend who makes everyone feel comfortable, but can still command a room without even coming above a whisper. I couldn't agree more! Erika is the best! My husband and I so enjoyed working with her. In fact, she was our favorite vendor we hired. We liked her from the moment we met her. We had pretty much decided on another photographer, but after we met with Erika we both agreed she was the better choice. We were a bit nervous about the cost at first, but after the wedding we both agreed she was worth every penny! Her photographs are amazing, all of our friends and family commented on the quality of photos. Erika took our wedding photos and our engagement photos, and I am obsessed. I love all of them; it is hard to decide which are our favorites. Erika is so responsive to any form of communication. I would text her and email her all the time with questions and she always responded quickly. Erika always made us feel so comfortable and at ease, even when we felt awkward. Erika is so much fun, we laughed the whole time we were taking engagement photos and portraits. It was like hanging out with a friend who happens to be taking pictures of you. Where do I start? From the first time my husband, John, and I met with Erika, we knew we had to have her shoot our wedding. Not only is her work beautiful, but she is truly an amazing person. I know a lot of people say this, but I truly HATE having my picture taken. With that said, I’ve never been so comfortable in front of the camera as I did with Erika, and I couldn’t be happier with our pictures. She truly captured our personalities perfectly in both the engagement pictures and the photos of our wedding day. Erika's done it again! She documented our wedding day last year and I was SO SO excited when our friends booked her for their destination wedding to the DR. Since we were going to be there at the same time, I figured it was only right to book her for our honeymoon session and boy was that the best decision! My husband and I cannot thank Erika Smith with Indie Pearl Photography enough for her capturing our special day sooo perfectly! ! I was worried at first because I have a huge family and I had a very large wedding party (11 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen) BUT She truly took the time to help me plan the timing of my wedding out so that we could fit in all of the shots I wanted without running behind AND IT WENT SOOO SMOOTHLY!! Where do I even begin...from the moment I first sent Erika a message until a few weeks after our wedding, Erika has been there with me every step of the way. In the beginning I was having a hard time finding a venue and Erika would send me locations to check out even before I booked her. She was always available via email and her booking process is super simple and streamlined. She went above and beyond throughout the wedding planning phase...sending us thoughtful notes, helpful suggestions, even a Christmas gift! I highly recommend doing an engagement session with her before your wedding so you get to know her...it was so nice having that time to let her get to know us and vice versa. It made the wedding day so much less stressful because Erika felt like one of my friends just hanging out with us while we got ready! She even brought sweet Sadie, her daughter, along on wedding day as a second shooter and it was so sweet watching Erika help her! Un-freaking believable!!!

Erika was my absolute favorite vendor - ever. She was more than a delight to work with and she really went above and beyond for me and my husband Max.

Initial Meeting: She is so unbelievably warm and enthusiastic, you feel like you're the only couple she is working with and that you are her number one priority. It's so fun to be part of her process - you will feel so important which is really moving. EVERYONE who met her adored her. Also, her website, payment, invoicing and file download system is the absolute easiest thing ever. I WISH everyone was set up like that.

Bridal Shoot: DAAAAAYYYM, out of this world!!! The bridal shoot was one my best investments. I have bridal photos of both my mom AND grandmother, and they are such important photos to me. I am SO glad I have my own now to pass down.

Wedding: My heart was so broken when I saw the torrential downpour begin, but she came in with a sunny attitude and did everything to make sure we still had beautiful shots. I'm a designer by trade and also do letterpress in the wedding industry - she went above and beyond. I work with photographers all the time where I teach design and she has great instincts and unparalleled technical skill. Exceptional sense of lighting, foreground/background, and composition - you will have an amazing range of photos to choose from.

Conclusion: If you are going to invest your money there are two places to do it - your venue and your photographers. The photos are how you will remember the day- do not balk at paying talented professionals what they deserve. I say this not as a person who works in the industry myself (which I do), but as someone who really feels the money I spent on photos was worthwhile, meaningful, and something to be treasured for a lifetime. Ah! What can I say, we are SO glad we hired Erika. She's got talent, professionalism, AND personality.
As a person: She was so accommodating, flexible, and truly a caring person from our very first meeting (after which i immediately hired her because she was so cool) all the way to getting our photos back to us a couple weeks after. Engagement session was like going on a fun date and having a new friend along. She went out of her way to make sure we felt comfortable and confident -- including taking the time to have lunch with me and walk around downtown Pensacola to figure out the best places to get shots on our wedding day. When i think of customer service i think of that "above and beyond-good"- like you feel like they are actually your friend and care about making your wedding day amazing.
As a professional: amazing! I can't stop looking at our photos! She did a FABULOUS job , especially considering our ceremony and reception were indoors, which can be tricky with lighting. She got the BEST shots of me and all my friends dancing up a storm, and really captured what it was like to be at our wedding AKA the best party ever. I loved her "photojournalistic" style, capturing even special moments like my 15 bridesmaids clumped into one bathroom getting ready, just all the stuff that makes you smile. She did a fabulous job making sure we got our photos back promptly, and even was sweet enough to send several the day after our wedding and put up plenty of highlights on the blog a few days later.
