Choosing Robert was a no brainer for us. My husband has known him for a while as he has been the DJ/MC for several family weddings. When choosing our vendors, we wanted to make sure we knew their work and got a good vibe from them. We knew that with Robert we were getting a quality DJ. From our first meeting I knew he understood our theme and the music we liked. My husband and I didn’t stress out about the music once because we knew we were in the hands of a professional. Throughout the whole process Robert not only helped us with wedding/lighting/photobooth but he also helped us structure our timeline and gave us several tips that we had never thought about and made a huge impact; with weddings its always the small details! When talking to him about the vibe we wanted for our night he nailed it! My husband is Greek and I am Latin; we wanted both cultures and families to have music that would appeal to them… as well as the young crowd. Robert sourced Greek songs, Latin songs, Disney songs, musicals, etc. While he played a wide variety of songs from very different genres the whole night felt seamless. One thing that was particularly important for us was to keep the vibe of the night on a high note… and Robert delivered. Looking at our pictures recently we realized at one point everyone was on the dance floor having a great time! We danced until the last minute and we still wanted more. When we began our search for our wedding DJ, we had the most difficult time finding one that was able to vibe with us. It wasn’t until we luckily stumbled across Robert and Hilo Productions. When we called and spoke with him for the first time, it was like we had known him forever! It wasn’t ever an interview with Robert. Every time we spoke with him it was always like a casual conversation, so easy and so fluid. The crazy thing is that he’s so experienced, he knew what we wanted and what we didn’t want by just asking us a few questions. He was also always fully transparent with us. The day of the wedding, Robert was running around making everything run smoothly and he adjusts so well! We had to change things up last minute and Robert made it like it was the plan all along! He put our interests and wants first, without trying to up-sell or persuade us on anything. He works for you and with you, not for himself. Robert asks you what your goal is for the wedding, what you want to get out of it, what it is you envision for yourself and for your guests. He genuinely wanted our wedding to be our vision and that’s exactly what he did. We can’t thank Robert enough for everything he did for us! He was there for us from the day we first spoke, up until the day of. There were plenty of times that we didnt make it easy for Robert, yet he never complained, and was able to accommodate our requests. We are very happy to have found Robert and to have him as our DJ/MC for our wedding. He was able to set the tone perfectly for each part of the event. Music provided during the reception was beautiful, cocktail hour was lively, and Robert brought so much energy to the reception. All of our guests loved him.What’s most important of all is that Robert helped us capture how we envisioned our wedding to be. His suggestions and tips were incredibly valuable and was a major contribution to the wedding planning. He worked with us on our wedding timeline. We felt the weight lift off our shoulders after each phone call, email and text with Robert because he walked us through each question we had. We also had Hilo Production for services to provide venue decorations. The canopy, string lights, and draping with up lighting turned out to be absolutely gorgeous. I'm in love with my DJ. There I said it. He walked my down the aisle to say yes to my bride but I should have turned around and said yes to Robert. Robert: you are AMAZING. For those of you reading this and are on the fence on whether or not to hire Robert as your MC/DJ, I'm telling you DO IT! We first met Robert at a boba shop and got to talking about how me and my wife met, our wedding plans, what we like and what we don't, etc. Then Robert chimed in, sharing a ton about himself. His charismatic, fun, outgoing personality definitely shined through and we became comfortable with him right away, spending the next couple of hours talking and laughing. During the next few months leading up to our wedding, Robert continued to stay in contact with us, checking on our well-being, seeing how we were doing with all the wedding planning, and making sure we all were on the same page as to what we wanted on the wedding day. He was perfectly accommodating and gave his own recommendations as well. Fast forward to a couple weeks before the wedding, Robert met with us once again to finalize all the final details and made us both feel at ease and that we were in comfortable hands. He honestly was much more than a DJ to us; he became a close friend we could come to whenever we felt overwhelmed.On the day of our wedding, Robert officiated our wedding and was a spectacular orator. After months of getting to know us, he put a personal touch into his speech that was both heartwarming and hilarious. It definitely made both of us feel at ease standing up there! Onto the reception night, Robert made the entire night a blast for all of our 350+ guests. His music playlist included all of our requests, including old school jams, Top 40, and EDM. His games were a crazy hit; nearly half the tables were on the dance floor to join in! Even though he was extremely busy taking care of our 350+ guests, he never once forgot about taking care of the two of us. He continued to come to our bridal table to check up on us, making sure we were eating, if we needed anything from the bar, and reminding us what was coming up next on the schedule. What can I say – Robert is the man!! My wife and I are so happy that we chose him to be the DJ at our wedding. I was given very few jobs to take the lead on in the wedding planning process, but picking the DJ was one of them. When all is said and done, Robert made me look brilliant for my decision. He is very professional. When unexpected things came up at the wedding, Robert was there to work out the kinks so that me and the wife could relax and enjoy the festivities. Seriously, this man went to the bar and got me a beer on several occasions throughout the night!! In addition to bringing the groom beers (which is pretty much the coolest thing a DJ can do for a groom), he kept the event on time, making sure entrances were coordinated, first dances went off without a hitch, cake cutting was done on time, etc. If you are looking for a stress-free, fun wedding then you should contact DJ HiLo. The process of working with Robert to plan the wedding was very relaxed. We even had a Skype meeting with him while he was on vacation in Hawaii – this man is dedicated!Now let’s get to the music – my wife desperately wanted the dance floor to be full throughout the night. I was very worried about this, as our guest were an eclectic mix that included a lot of older family members. From the first song until the last, Robert played all the right music. The dance floor stayed full all night. He knew our taste in music (90’s), took requests from guests, and mixed in current songs. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. Robert as our MC/DJ for my in-laws 50th Wedding anniversary party, was the BEST decision that we could have made. He was “fantastic” in every way; from the first time we met him till the end of our party. During the whole planning stage, Robert was quick to response & threw out many great ideas. Robert kept the party going all night long. He got people of all ages dancing, laughing, doing the Macarena follow by the train, & singing to “Let it go”. There were so many compliments during our party & afterward from friends & family, saying how this was “the Best” party that we have ever had, & we had many. Again, thank you Robert for giving my in-law party a Wonderful & Memorable party. You’ve definitely gone over & beyond what we expected.P.S. Robert did an AWESOME job as the DJ/Emcee for our wedding. Having a good DJ/Emcee was really important to us because the DJ/Emcee sets the tone for the reception. We loved the energy that he brought to the room and his stage presence. He did a great job in making our reception fun, entertaining, and kept the reception going in good order. He also arranged for a Vietnamese co-host to be present during the reception by our request. This really helped a lot because many of our guests during the reception were non English speakers.Robert was really involved with our wedding because he was also responsible for managing the sound system and playing the ceremony music during the ceremony, playing music for cocktail hour, providing uplights for the ballroom of the reception, and providing and managing the projectors/screens. He was with us almost the entire day from the start of the ceremony until the last song of the night. Having Robert handled all these tasks made it easier as we just had to deal with one vendor instead of multiple. This did remove some of the stress in planning as we were planning our wedding from out of state.When we first met Robert, he gave us an advice on hiring vendors for the wedding. He told us to go with your gut feeling and go with what feels right. After leaving the meeting, we left with a strong first impression of him and felt that he was the right DJ/Emcee for our wedding. One of our first impressions of him was that he was a professional. He arrived to the meeting on time and dressed very well. We liked the energy that he presented and his enthusiasm that he expressed about our wedding. We also liked that he was quick on his feet and was able to answer all of our questions with confidence. This is a really important characteristic to look for in an Emcee. He was a people person and was very personable in our interaction with him. He spent time with us sharing us stories and making sure he addressed our concerns. After the meeting and the months leading up to the wedding, Robert was good in following up and staying in touch with us. He always wanted to check with us and see if there was anything he could of help us with. We are so glad that we had Robert as our DJ/Emcee for our wedding. Robert was referred to us by one of our close friends who booked him for their wedding as well. Robert was extremely knowledgeable about several genres of music. We initially were interested in him, because our friends had told us that he specialized in 90's music. To our surprise, he was also well-versed in modern country music and indie music. Our meetings with Robert prior to the wedding were always productive. We went over everything from song choices to timelines. He also gave us several tips we used on the day of the wedding that were very helpful. On the day of our wedding, Robert not only performed his duties as a DJ/MC, he also went above and beyond by acting as a same-day coordinator and time keeper, which was extremely helpful with a guest list of over 450 people. We met Robert through a friend of a friend and we were so relieved to have some one who knew what they were talking about and someone whome we felt extremely comfortable with. Not only was Robert a top notch DJ/MC, he provided great support for the time planning and coordinating the timeline. He took the initiative to not only outreach and work with my venue coordinator, but he went there with us to make sure he had the right equipment and lighting prepared for us. He took the time to ensure and plan out quick 5 minute rehearsal prior to our ceremony starting so we would not look completely lost. He will be remembered as our unofficial officiant of the wedding. We loved the fact that he provided creative game ideas and kept our guest entertained throughout the whole night. One of the best comments we received from a guest was how professional Robert was and that he provided good energy, kept the dance floor going and engaged our guest with every aspect of the wedding. Without a doubt we were 110% completely satisfied with how Robert handled everything and his willingness to be hands on and help you out. As the bride, I was grateful for the moral support throughout this process, genuine care and concern for the wedding and he took the time to hear me out on my concerns about the wedding, even though they were not DJ/MC related. We are so happy to have found him, and only wished it was sooner. Where do I even begin?!?!?! Well, let's start by saying our friends and family were dancing the ENTIRE night! From ceremony to cocktail hour to dinner reception to open dancing. ..ROBERT was hands-down amazing! My guests are still talking about how awesome our DJ was! Robert was a wonderful DJ to work with from the beginning. He wanted to get to know my husband and me as individuals and as a couple so that he can better address our guests and set the mood for our wedding. He was thorough in preparation for the big day. He called to follow up on our song selections, gave us recommendations and also made sure that he knew how to pronounce each person's name in our bridal party (big plus for us!). We are not a very traditional couple and he was so very flexible! He went with whatever we threw at him and was a MAJOR factor in making our wedding amazing.
