From Angel to Nicole to Melissa and Sierra, I enjoy all of the staff at the HAC. I've been a member since I've moved to the area for a couple years and recommend this gym for locals that aren't looking for a cramped experience at LA. My critiques are bringing back towel service, new basketballs so we don't need to keep buying our own to play, and more stair masters since the other one has been down for a couple months. More...

I've been a member for 18 years now and I've got to say this is the best I've ever seen the gym. New managers Antonio and Angel are very nice. There working very hard to improve this gym and I really appreciate it. It's very clean, pool looks amazing, there new staff is very nice, basketballcourt is always clean , have made many changes like add a batting cage room for baseball players, 5 brand new boxing bags and much more !!!! Would highly recommend this gym if you don't like those small gyms or super packed gyms like la fitness where it's uncomfortable. This gym has a lot to offer and will continue coming here.!! Thank you HAC staff. More...

I'm back at HAC after a year off! I was a member for years from 2014-2017 until I left (went to that "other" gym ) for various concerns many of you have already mentioned. Bookkeeping errors, staff issues, etc etc. But many concerns have been resolved at HAC Â and the new management is trying very hard to make it clean and effective. It is great to see former friends from long ago. Love the pool, sauna, steam room, whirlpool, aqua classes, weight machines, etc. LOVE not too much chlorine in the pool area. Sauna and steam room are awesome and rules are followed. Never too crowded or crazy in the pool or shower area. Always machines to use. Family swims are great. Most of all I love the community feel! Gyms are hard to manage and maintain. They have high staff and client turnover. It takes all of us to follow the rules, pick up after ourselves, and help keep them clean and in good working order! HAC is my home gym once again. More...

I was a member here twice, once while living in White Center and upon returning to Burien from Seattle. My takeaways:Never had a problem with management staff but did with mismanagement (behind the scenes matters such as billing, see the end of this review). Front desk staff used to be friendlier back in 2014 but there are exceptions or exceptional times. The men's locker room smells worse than a high school locker room. It is horrible, to me, and I consider myself to have a high tolerance as a guy. Ironically, it appears clean and fairly well kept so I've no idea why! They have a lot of equipment, old and new. It may not all be new but it is taken care of. They have some functional training in one room, cardio in another, free weights in a third, machines in a fourth, two classrooms, a large gym for basketball or some other game many regulars seem to play, an indoor track, a cycling room, a stretching room, a pool and attached hot tub, steam room, and sauna. Yeah, that's a lot!Classes are offered but there seems to be an issue keeping instructors as there has been a history of cancellations on notices or in overhearing gym banter or dissatisfied guests coming in during the morning at the front desk.Speaking of gym talk, I've not noticed a sense of community but was hoping to find one when going. People seem hesitant to open up unless you're already in their circle. Perhaps it's just a Seattle thing. This is the biggest reason to go to a gym in my opinion since workouts can be tough without a little support (or shame in not going for awhile). It's pricier. See the list of amenities above? It costs money when you're not a national chain. This translates into more expensive membership fees. I bet if they increased the fees more or offered a different tier for classes, they could afford what the instructors need or rent out space for martial arts or dance instructors to hold classes there.Nevertheless, I found it difficult to continue there uninspired by the handful of conversations I have had in several months of going there...literally a handful (no more than 5). The hours were also an issue. 24 hour key card access would be awesome (with the pool locked up, of course). Even without community, I'd return if that became available. I'd imagine a little background screen would be all it would take to offer that to others and perhaps even reduce operational costs by staffing fewer hours (currently 5a to 9 or 10pm weekdays). I mean if you're going to staff all but 7 hours, why not go for the gold right? Or change hours to 6am to 8pm weekdays and 8/10am to 6pm on weekends. Heck, close one day a week even with 24 hour access.I'd say if you have the chance to try it and it fits your life, give it a shot. Pay with a credit card instead of debit card though. Billing issues have been known to happen and it's much easier to resolve when it isn't coming directly out of your bank account. Recent management seems to be on top of it (dealing with prior management shortfalls in oversight). More...

I’ve been a member of Highline Athletic Club for four months now and I can honestly say it’s my favorite gym I’ve ever belonged to.
And I’ve belonged to many over the past several decades.
The first time I walked into a group fitness class (always a little unnerving in a new gym) I was immediately and warmly greeted by the instructor, Pam. Then, several of the long time members greeted me and introduced themselves and suddenly my first group fitness class felt like I was among old friends.
My husband, a 32 year Seattle Police Officer and avid fitness buff also loves the gym and the feeling of community we’ve experienced.
The gym has EVERYTHING anyone could possibly want including, but not limited to, a pool, indoor running track, and pickle ball and basketball courts with games going pretty much all the time. There are multiple functional fitness rooms, the expected weight rooms though you’ve got several different weight rooms to choose from so you can always find a machine or private area to work out if you’re shy.
I love the group fitness classes with Pam and Patricia particularly.
The staff as well as the owner, Shery, are always welcoming and professional and we feel fortunate to have found such a perfect fit for our wants and needs.

This is by far my favorite Fitness club. My workout partner and I use the upstairs track on a regular basis and the equipment downstairs. You never have to wait around for the machines there is plenty of equipment. I like the fact that the pool is in the back of the gym not in the front like LA Fitness. The locker rooms are very nice and spacious. I also love the waiting room in the lobby with the coffee and comfortable chairs. Makes for a nice meeting area for folks to visit. The Club has a warm and spa-like feel to it. More...
