While the Hotel itself is beautiful DO NOT waste the time or money to stay here.
1)the experience is total frustration
-no easy way to order food
-no gift shop for snacks water or necessities
2)Food way too stuffy and NOWHERE NEAR what they think it is
3)Atmosphere is beautiful but snobby and NOT COMFORTABLE
4)Staff is flippant, uncaring, and unresponsive
—room was not ready until 500pm
—arrived at 230pm and was told it would be. Few minutes and they would call me
—no call, not outreach… Literally sitting in front of the destine I he to check at 500pm
—I called to get help with the in room dinning, and they laughed ND NEVER CALLED BACK

Come and take pictures, or get a drink but you won’t stay lone and NO!!! I would not recommend this to anyone.

The Hermitage is all of the above descriptors and more. Out stay at the Hermitage was the greatest stay at any hotel we have experienced in this country and abroad. May it’s rich history continue.

***This is a review of their "Talk of the Town" afternoon tea experience.***

We were planning a weekend trip to Nashville for a Lindsey Stirling concert when my wife informed me that on the day of the concert we would be enjoying afternoon tea for lunch. The night before the trip we got word that the concert had been postponed but we were already locked in to our nonrefundable hotel and the Hermitage charges you if you cancel within 24 hrs of their afternoon tea experience, so the trip was still on.

Determined to make the most of our experience, we drove up to the valet and they whisked our car away as we walked into the lovely lobby of the hotel. We checked in up front and they walked us over to the back corner away from the nice ambiance and surrounded by a mini Woman's Suffragist Movement display. I had the pleasure of being side-eyed by a photo of Carrie Chapman Catt the whole experience.

The server came by and asked us whether we wanted tap water, filtered water, or spring water. I've fallen for this trap before to the tune of $30 for 2 bottles of water, so I took the tap. We then began to review the tea options and I immediately notice that there are very few tea options to choose from. My wife and I settled for the cocoa chai and the darjeeling. We also got a "complimentary" flute glass of champagne (it was mediocre).

The tea arrives and it was mediocre to say the least. They also provided 4 cubes of regular sugar for the 2 of us (they had raw sugar but it wouldn't dissolve and sucked for tea consumption), so we requested more. They brought 5 more. I know we probably consume more sugar than the average tea connoisseur, but I didn't realize a ritzy hotel charging $75 per person for tea needed to be stingy with sugar.

Then the three-tiered display comes. I begin with their "Aspa & Parmesan Quiche with Fine Herbs." I bit into it and it tasted distinctly like cold scrambled eggs. It was at this point I knew the quality of this meal was in serious jeopardy.

I moved on to the "Cucumber and Smoked Salmon with Herb Cream Cheese on Marble Rye." They had a cucumber cut into thirds atop the rye bread covered with a barely discernable layer of cream cheese and delicate portion of salmon rolled on top that would have left Oliver Twist begging "more please!" It basically tasted like a dry piece of rye bread.

Next up was the ""Darjeeling Poached Chicken Salad with Baby Pasta and Walnuts atop Brioche." While Amanda and I both thought it was a mustard-based egg salad and couldn't taste any chicken in it whatsoever, it was the most edible aspect of this experience.

Now we move into the scones. We received 2 different types: a savory "Ladies Spring Gardens Scone" and a sweet "H.R.H Crème Scone." These were accompanied by butter, lemon curd, and "Duchess Devonshire Cream." It was advised we do the butter with the savory and the lemon curd and Devonshire Cream with the sweet, so I intended to follow that advice. I spread butter on one half of the savory scone, took a bite, and was greeted by a dry pastry that lasted like what mowing a lawn smells like. My wife thought the lemon curd might save it, but it made it borderline vomit-inducing instead. I tried to pawn my half off to Amanda but she did not want it for obvious reason. The sweet scone was equally dry; it was drier than Ben Stein reading Merriam Websters Dictionary. No amount of curd or cream was saving that.

Then we moved on to desserts. Surely this would be the redeeming factor to this experience, right? Alas, it was not. The "Royal Kensington Biscuits" were a royal disappointment; it was so flavorless I was convinced I was coming down with COVID. Fortunately, the "Majestic Apricot Crumb Bar" alleviated those fears, as the miniscule apricot ayer atop the otherwise dry biscuit was respectable. Then we had a "Delightful Chocolate Tea Cake" that was dry and far from delightful. It was reminiscent of a Carls Jr. Chocolate Cake that had been left out in the open for several days. Fortunately the desserts came with a strawberry. I was worried it was a trick and would be surprised by it being a dry pastry masquerading as a strawberry, but it was indeed a strawberry. Ended on a decent note.

We then received the bill and was charged $192 dollars for this "Talk of the Town" high tea experience. I only hope some of those proceeds go to sending their chefs to culinary school; they desperately need it.

We left our disappointing tea experience and handed the valet our ticket. Just to top the whole experience off, they brought my car out and parked it facing the wrong way down a one way street. When asked about this, they told me that the road up ahead was closed, but as seen by the flow of traffic heading the proper direction, that was clearly not the case. They quickly realized they were in the wrong and offered to help guide me down the street (the wrong way down a one way street). I turned my car in the proper direction instead and left, never to return again.
