This rating is beyond a 5 star.  The response and service was excellent.  They arrived early to give me an estimate for a booster fan and dryer vent cleaning.  Reuben looked at the dryer vent and immediately knew the problem.  He explained that the contractor installed the vent incorrectly and that the vent was plugged.  He related that the run was short  and a booster fan was not needed.  He re-router the vent and cleared the blockage in no time.  He charged me way less than what I had expected to pay.  Dryer works great.  Going to have them service my A/C next.   Thank you very much. When I moved into my new house the dryer wasn't drying my clothes. I snaked the vent as much as I could but the dryer was still not drying. That's when I called Rueben.  He came to look and found there was a bird nest in my dryer vent! He got that mess out pretty quick. Very satisfied with his work. He is very affordable and friendly. Fantastic service and very reasonable prices! We bought a new dryer and got an error on the first use, that the flow sensor was detecting a blockage in the exhaust vent. Called Reuben, and he came out the next day, climbed up on our roof (in the rain!), and cleaned it out in no time! He and his co-worker were exceptionally polite, and he was very careful while working around our new appliances, to not scratch them, which I really appreciated. Highly professional. Reuben is awesome. When I had my dryer duct cleaned, he made sure to not only clean from inside my condo unit but going on the roof. He was very thorough, even puts a mat down before working...and was very patient with answering questions. I needed my dryer duct and vent cleaned as our dryer was taking extra long and we had never had it cleaned since moving to Kaneohe years ago.  I asked several of the dryer duct cleaners on yelp for quotes and they all came in higher priced than Reuben or didn't respond at all.  I decided to try Hawaii Air Specialists because of this and because of the great reviews they had already received on Yelp.  Once I was able to schedule the cleaning they were prompt, fast and professional.  Cleaned the wall duct, outlet fitting, and took the back of the dryer off to cleaned in there too.  At the end of the cleaning they were able to remove enough lint out to make a bowling ball.  After replacing the ducting between the wall and dryer (which was overly long - which resulted in additional build up) Reuben went over all that they cleaned and replaced.  To top it off he gave me a considerable discount because he said the actual run of ducting he needed to clean was shorter than he estimated (this is on top of already being the lowest quote) and even pointed out some electrical concerns that he noticed while going about doing the cleaning.  To summarize very professional and a GREAT value. If you have any issues with dryer air ducts, call Reuben.  He is a proven professional, honest, courteous, and responsive.  I wasn't sure if my air duct needed to be replaced, so he went on the roof to check it out.  He told me that the duct only needed a screen and because it was a quick job, he charged me less than what was originally quoted.  I was extremely happy with his service.  You can't go wrong if you call Reuben.  It was one of the best choices I made. We bought a brand new dryer about a month ago and noticed it was still taking so long to get everything dry. A service Na came out to our place and told us it wasn't the dryer but that our dryer duct must be clogged from roof end. My husband contacted Reuben yesterday and he was able to come out to our place today. Sure enough- the vent on the roof was 100% blocked . Reuben provided fast and reliable service and also educated us on what should and should not be done with these roof dryer duct vents. Reuben, the owner of this business performed our AC duct cleaning. Flat rate $170 plus tax. Great skill, knowledge and personality. I told Ruben I get asthma symptoms when AC is not clean. So he used the chemical that he uses for cleaning up hospital ACs which air did smell like hospital only just for the first few hours. Took about 1hour to clean. Wow this is the best Air Conditioning service we've ever hired!!! I called 3 other places to see if they can clean out our apartment AC coz their was a disgusting smell coming out of it but sadly non of them service the kind we have:(. ..I called Hawaii Air Specialists and left two voice messages then Ruben finally got back to me the next day, he said the same thing the other 3 i called earlier, then followed by his words I'm going to come by and take a look at it and see if i we can fix it... wheeeeww Thank you!!We scheduled for a Wednesday at 10:30/11ish am, Ruben and his friend(so sorry uncle i forgot your name) they arrived right on time. He tried his best opening and taking everything apart as the other AC Company closed it permanently when they did the whole installation process.. Ruben was able to open the damn thing coz their was tons of mold inside and my poor 1 year old's been inhaling all this sick and disgusting air.. We have used many Air Conditioning and Air Duct Cleaning companies in the past.  Hawaii Air Specialists was on the vendor list for one of our condos and we thought we would another company.  My husband and I were impressed with their professionalism--being on time, having all the equipment at hand, respectful of our floors and furniture by covering items as needed, as well as leaving the area cleaner than it was.  We had just had the AC split systems cleaned 6 months ago so thought everything would be all right but found that the AC was black and had mold and mildew...Reuben and his father carefully placed plastic all over/under the wall and had the bucket on hand brushing, spraying, cleaning...we had never seen such a thorough job!  The AC which was black before, was now silver like new!  How much healthier that was.  He did all the AC's and the dryer duct and sealed everything that needed the seals.  The cost was so much more reasonable than the other companies we used and better.  We have recommended him to all our friends and to our other condo for their vendor list.  Reuben is a karate master/teacher and he lives his creed in his work ethic!  He even speaks Japanese... I contacted Reuben of Hawaii Air Specialist yesterday to clear out my dryer duct. I assumed that because this is a holiday week he wouldn't be able to help me but at least I could get an estimate on cost.  However, he was able to accommodate me this morning and did a fantastic job! Clearing out not only the dryer duct but even taking the back of the dryer off and cleaning it. Plus going up on the roof and clearing that pipe too. A few years ago we had a new roof put on and the roofers left the screen on which created a huge blockage. Laundry was taking up to two hours to dry and I was seriously considering a new dryer. I was having issues with my dryer taking 2hrs to dry a load of clothes. I originally thought it was the old dryer that came with the house when I bought it, so I bought a new one. Only for the new one to keep shutting off and telling me to check the vent. So I messaged a few vent specialists and Rueben responded within a few hours of sending my message. He was very helpful and super nice. We scheduled an appointment and came by to inspect what was going on and explained to me what my issue was. I had a clogged dryer duct bc my dryer is in the center of the house so the duct/vent goes into the wall, up over the ceiling and across the garage to reach the outside, ~20' distance. The previous owners of my home likely never had the duct cleaned. It was completely clogged. Reuben explained that the vent should be cleaned out once a year for maintenance. Then he went to work and got out a large, thick, and wet lint ball. It was larger than a softball! After it was clean he told me that possibly I may still have an issue with the dryer shutting off bc it will sense that the duct is too long and will require a booster fan. Reuben followed up with me that night to see if the dryer was still giving me issues. And he was right so he was able to order the booster fan for me and came to install it when he received it. Now my dryer not only works, it dries super fast! A full load of bath towels in 40m! Reuben is very down to earth and professional. This review is based on communication with the business owner as I was unable to hire them for my needs. I wrote them a message on Yelp to find out if they install window a/c units. The owner, Reuben, got back to me within a few hours and though they don't do this themselves, he did tell me roughly how much it would cost if I could find a company to do it. He even recommended a place that might help me. He suggested if I know any "handy" people, perhaps doing it ourselves -- and even offered his phone number if I had any other questions. I had contacted a couple of other businesses with only one other response, and though that person was friendly, they didn't go out of their way to give me any helpful information like Reuben did. It was unexpected. So again, I can't attest to their services, but communication, honesty and helpfulness are important qualities (to me at least), sometimes more important than the service itself. Reuben and his gracious dad are professionals who did an absolutely amazing job with cleaning our air-conditioning ducts/vent . The  three things:we were looking for was price, quality of service and efficiency of  the contractor . Ruben met all of these  and more.  We have two children with chronic Asthma thus we needed the vents cleaned and disinfected before we moved into our recently purchased home. They obliged to fit us into their very busy schedule by working on our home on the weekend. We will be forever grateful for their superb service. My tenant contacted me about several problems she was having in our condo. Water was leaking from the utility closet onto the carpet, and a loud noise was coming from a bathroom exhaust fan.  She also complained about an odor in the refrigerator.  Reuben came out and solved all the problems. The AC sump pump was clogged with algae - he cleaned it out and we're dry again. The air duct from the exhaust fan was clogged and he cleaned that out.  While he doesn't repair refrigerators, he was able to show her the filter that needed replacing; where to purchase it; and how to install it.  My tenant is happy and so am I.  Living 5000 miles away, it's really nice to know that I have a professional, reliable resource when we need help!
