Luis is the best dog trainer in Rhode Island. No words can express how much he’s help us with our boy Jax. Jax is a 4 year old shih tzu we rescued in December. To say he was/is challenging is an understatement. Luis has showed us the tools to help him & us have a better life. He still a work in progress since the Covid19 we really haven’t got into the full training but so far we are extremely happy with the results. Just taking to Luis calms me down. Where do I begin! Over two years ago, my husband and I rescued a pitbull from a shelter. It wasn’t long before Bruno became our whole world. We’ve never met a dog who loves cuddles and humans more than he does. He adjusted very quickly and we fell in love immediately. Unfortunately, we had no information on his history or his background, and given the stigma associated with this breed, we knew we were taking a risk. Shortly after we got him, he had an incident with a dog where we ended up having to go to court. After a second incident happened recently, we knew we had no other choice but to invest the time and money to send him to training. Luckily, neither of the dogs in these incidents were left injured, and we later determined (with Luis’s help) his actions were more a result of his fixation on things (mostly other dogs) and loss of all self control, rather than being aggressive or innately vicious. I reached out to Luis after he came recommended to me through word-of-mouth. He was extremely responsive and had us set up with a consultation the next day. He spent almost two hours going over his experience, methods, and plan for Bruno. He emphasized his love for pits and told us about numerous experiences he’s had training dogs with similar stories. A few days later, we dropped Bruno off where he stayed for the next three weeks - a week longer than what is typical. Luis went to work immediately, and reassured us several times he “loved the challenge” (we knew Bruno would give him a run for his money). He was able to make progress pretty quickly, but by the time the typical two week period was over, Luis knew he could do more. He was committed. At no extra charge, Luis worked with him for another week. He updated us daily throughout the three weeks, sent us pictures and videos, and even showed us a glimpse of play time to reward his hard work. He promised us he would give us back a “better boy” ... and that he did. The progress he made with Bruno exceeded our expectations. We knew that given his breed and history, it would be a commitment that extends beyond and amount of time he would spend in training. When it was time to pick him up, Luis spent several hours with us showing us exactly what we needed to do to make sure we stayed on track when we got home. He was patient, enthusiastic, kind, and so full of knowledge. He has a great sense of humor which made for a comfortable learning environment. He made sure we were confident before he let us go, and has checked in everyday since we left. My husband and I would undoubtedly recommend his services. He truly goes above and beyond, and it is so obvious he loves what he does. I even think Bruno loved Luis more than us by the end of the three weeks! He has a gift and we are so glad we got to be a part of that. The only regret we have is that we didn’t do it sooner. More...

I love the level of commitment Luis has for his furry friends! It doesn’t matter how long it takes or how challenging. Luis is thorough, professional, considerate and understanding of every dogs specific needs.
