If you take a look at Harlan's description of himself as a "rogue", I am living proof that he is exactly right.I'm now about 70. When I was around 66, I got back on the workout-wagon after falling off 15 years earlier.I was miserably out of shape, and it was Harlan who guided me back.I wasn't even comfortable being in a gym by that point -- I was embarrassed at what I had let happen to me.Sure, Harlan has all the professional skills and credentials necessary for personal training. But it was who he IS, that worked the magic.About two years later, I was ready to fly solo again.Because he did exactly what he says he does.He restored and enhanced both my physical -- and mental -- drive and confidence. One step at a time, I went from embarrassment in the gym, to excitement and pride.Until I no longer needed him.It was a bit like leaving home, and moving into adulthood - - a beautiful thing, and the sad thing.I'm a bit of a rogue myself.Takes one to know one :-)You cannot do better. Harlan Post is a truly excellent trainer. He is the perfect combination of tough and warm. He works with the whole person -- mentally, emotionally and physically. Harlan has a great skill for listening (which is rare and precious), and he has the training and knowledge to design a personal work out program that will get you to *your* goals, wherever you're starting from. Because of his efforts, I am strong and flexible, I look and feel great.  I came to Harlan with two old knee injuries (titanium pins from ACL tear surgeries in both knees) and recovering from a back injury.  All my attempts to start exercising on my own had resulted in injuries and setbacks.  He designed a program, taught me how to listen to my body and to work consistently- the results are phenomenal.  At the end of the day I'm no longer full of aches and pains like I was before, I have tons of energy. My back pain has vanished, and I'm able to comfortably wear high heels again- something my doctor said might never be possible. Most importantly, working out has become fun. I recommend Harlan without reservation. More...

Q&As

I have a classic type A personality, and if I don't feel I've done the best at my job then I failed at it. Excellence is my minimum standard. I'm the guy who goes home at night to read and study more about what exercises and techniques will best suit my clients. As I result I can offer excellent results to anyone, including special needs clients.

I like to start off "hitting the ground running" so to speak. The body will adapt and adjust only as quickly as we push it to, so there's no sense in not giving it your all when we're working out together. Every client of course is different and unique, so everyone's threshold will vary, so I will push you to do your personal best from day 1. The sky's the limit after that.

They say if you find a job you enjoy you'll never work a day in your life, and that's never been more true than being a Personal Trainer. The fulfillment that comes with actually helping someone unlock the true potential they have carried with them their entire life up to this point, without fully realizing it, is about the most gratifying experience anyone can have.

Exercise and staying fit has always been a big part of my life. I enjoyed how much energy I always had, how jealous everyone else got when they saw how much I could eat and not gain a pound, so finally one day I decided "I'm in the gym all the time anyway, people are always asking me for advice, so why not go ahead and finally make it official?"

I have two certifications, both in Personal Training, from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and the National Exercise Sports Trainers Association (NESTA), plus am CPR certified. I have over 5 years of one-on-one training experience with a staggering variety of different clients.

Like most things, with training you definitely get what you pay for, and after making such a large commitment to yourself to finally get in the shape you always dreamed of, why settle for less? If a trainer is not certified then he may or may not understand the fundamentals, good form, various exercises, etc. Of course, if that's all you're looking for then fine, but don't buy a Honda and expect a Lamborghini.
