Just another ordinary bbq joint in Springfield, not worth the money. BBQ sauce is the only thing good and different. Meat was bland, pork was stringy, sausage was hard and dry.

We decided to grab some Hard Knox BBQ to go on a Friday night at 6:30. They were already sold out of most meats by that time, but they still had a few options left to choose from. I ordered the Combo #3 for $25. It's a choice of 3 meats with 4 individual sides. I brought my food home and realized they left out one of our 4 sides, and did not include the spicy BBQ sauce I had asked for. Food tasted great, but it's always a disappointment when the order isn't complete when you get home. I usually turn up my nose at meat other than hickory-smoked. Â Applewood and mesquite don't do much for me. Â However, the pecan wood they use gives a rich and delicious flavor, unlike hickory, which can be overwhelming. Â The menu is quite pricey, however. Â The brisket was a little drier than I like, but still delicious. Â The pulled pork is as good as I have ever had, and is the best bargain on the menu at $12 a pound. Â I knocked off two stars because of price, AND the man preparing our food wore his mask loosely over his mouth and NOT AT ALL over his nose. We finally were able to go in and eat at hard Knox. Was anticipating the visit for a long while.  Mr husband and I shared a 3 meat plate that allows us both to have sides.  Imagine my utter disbelief when the fod came out and our "3" meat consisted of 5 slices of brisket.  I was expecting more for $25.00. so what do you get with a one meat choice? 1 slice of brisket?  I just feel although the meat was good  they're WAY overpriced.  I mean really 5 slices for a 3 meat combo? Spent over $30 dollars so disappointed.  Young man who took care of us... This was my first time at Hard Knox, and overall I was impressed with the friendly service and flavor of their ribs & burnt ends. We had the option of sitting inside or outside & chose 1 of the 2 outside high top tables. As for the meats, the burnt ends are some of the best I've tasted in Springfield. A pretty good sized serving too. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy. (No rib meat was left behind!) The shoestring fries were well-seasoned and crispy. The Mac&cheese was a fairly small portion & nothing too special - even though it cost 50 cents extra than a regular side. It was creamy but tasted pretty generic. Tried for the first time today and it was very good. Had brisket, pulled pork, and ribs with beans and fries. 1 of only 2 places in Springfield that can do brisket right, the pulled pork was very good and so were the ribs. The beans were just right with a good balance of meat and seasoned well and the fries were the shoestring type that I've never seen at BBQ joint before but they were very good too. This was a nice find using Yelp whilst passing through Springfield MO. Â At first look I thought the menu was a bit steep for a sandwich but instead it was a great value for the money and quality. I had the Big Heavy that was really good. The spicy sauce made it even better. The baked beans were good too with meat chunks that added to the flavor. The burnt end sandwich was flavorful. Hard Knox BBQ Burnt ends have become my favorite food, just that simple. Cooked just right, but oh so flavorful! No sauce required. Customer service is spot on - friendly and attentive. If there's a wait, it's worth it. My only complaint is when I wait too late in the day and someone else has beat me to their burnt ends and they've run out. Nevertheless, all their other meat is awesome too, and I know I can still enjoy an awesome meal. I highly recommend Hard Knox. More...

This place is fabulous! We stopped in on Saturday and the gentleman behind the counter was wonderful, being our first time in he walked us through the menu and gave recommendations on some of his favorites. The food was unbelievable, however it was the customer service that really stood out to my fiancé and I. Not only did they have great customer service on Saturday but when I left my purse there that night they made arrangements to meet with me on Monday even though they were closed. Highly recommend! So glad that my fiance and I finally tried Hard Knox. I got the burnt ends and pulled pork. She got the burnt ends and ribs. While the pulled pork was great, I wish I got the ribs instead. They looked amazing! The small bite my fiance gave me confirmed that. Their sauces (original, tangy, and spicy) were all great and added some excellent flavor to the meats.We both got the mac and cheese as our side. That is some good stuff! Honestly, some of the best mac and cheese I've ever had from a restaurant. I could eat just a bowl of that. The price for both of our meals, with drinks, was $32. For the quality of food we got, along with excellent service, it was worth the money. We'll definitely be back. My coworkers and I are always looking for good BBQ places to add to our rotation. My husband, son, and I came in today for the first time and got the Featherweight meal, which consisted of three meats, two sides, pickles, onions, and white bread. We added another side dish and drinks. We chose pulled pork, jalapeño sausage, and pork spare ribs for the meats, and street corn, pit beans, and smoked macaroni and cheese for the sides. I recommended this but I do have to say I was disappointed in the size of the sides I got with the medium meal. The 2 sides to feed 3-4 were the same size my mom got in her sandwich meal. If I was serving 4 people, they would have got maybe 1/4 of a cup of each side..equivalent of 1 large tablespoon.. no bread came with the meal.. I did like the sauce! More...
