I can’t praise this rescue enough. I was immediately drawn in by their mission statement, “Doing what’s right, not what’s easy”. I love that they help the dogs who need a little extra care. I am currently fostering a dog through them and it has been a very rewarding and fulfilling experience for my entire family. Hard Knocks provides absolutely everything the dog will need, from food, a kennel, the leash, and blankets, to transportation to/from adoption events and the vet, and plenty of training tips and emotional support. I cannot express "enough" the high regard I have for Julie De Jong & Lisa Maasen and their collaborative teaching abilities; not only for the dogs- i.e., their clients, but for their owners as well! They are true professionals. They also put me completely at ease and are able to break down the training methods into very manageable and simple terms. They make every new concept seem like "common sense". Their ability to explain and demonstrate training methods in easy-to-understand terms is a trait I find very reassuring and confidence boosting. This team has wonderful tactics and tips, practical teaching techniques and are natural dog whisperers. Julie and Lisa believe and practice a completely positive, no punishment approach to dog training. These dog lovers truly understand just how dogs "think" and "feel". Lisa is amazing with dogs. I live in the Atlanta area and have asked for advice from here after some incidents with our rescue. She was willing to take him and train him for us. But she was introduced to Kody we knew she was special. No one can come around Kody. He’s not aggressive he’s defensive. She adores him and was the first person outside of our home that he would even come to without trying to eat them. LOL He has won our hearts and has become part of our home. He still has issues and we still call for assistance and guidance from time to time. More to talk me off the ledge. � Train the people too! We spoil our kiddos they are well taken care of.
