Went there this afternoon.  All tables outdoors, shell "pavement"/driveway/floor, pretty extensive menu if you like Cajun (I lived in New Orleans for a semester) - even muffaletta.  We're so lucky in Florida to have outdoor restaurants on a sunny day in December in the 70's.  Saturday afternoons nowadays a musician - with the electronics sounds like a duo with multiple instruments - great song selection - just a perfect afternoon under the trees, listening to the music.....Lots of po-boys  - shrimp, oysters, crab cake, a few more.  Hush puppies, alligator sausage and crawfish sausage.  I can only personally vouch for the gumbo and the po-boys and the hush puppies which were all excellent.  Looking at other tables, fish seemed great, sausage maybe not.On the shelves in a little bookcase about 10 different brands of hot sauce.  For me, the fewer the ingredients the better - one had aged red cayenne peppers, vinegar, salt, garlic - about perfect but even fewer can be better.  One day at Ulele - real upscale place in Tampa - asked for hot sauce and they had their own label - about 15 ingredients - my opinion:  awful (just their hot sauce - otherwise an excellent restaurant).  Refrigerated cooler has sodas and beers - didn't notice if they had wine.Service excellent, a little traffic noise but mostly fine, musician just the right volume for conversation  - just an excellent experience. Hidden jam! they do have a few parking spots, Â food is all really good. Â I did not order boiled peanuts, but I have tried them all over the country and they are just bad, Â bad culinary idea, they will make a mess of your hands and probably ruin your day. But happy's is great. Â All outdoor seating, take a shot make a friend. More...

We are from the Seattle area and found this little gem! We showed up 10 minutes before close, worried we were too late! The gal was wonderful recommending food choices and made sure to tell us to take our time and enjoy. The food was delicious! The alligator sausage bites were very tasty and the cat fish was yummy! I've eaten here 3 times and every experience has been perfection. The employees/owners are very kind, especially to my dog. They check on you multiple times while eating and provide koozies to keep your drink cold. The food is the best Cajun food you can find outside Louisiana. I love their lightly battered, perfectly spiced and fried shrimp for their po' boys. It has a little bit of cornmeal to give it a nice crunch, but is thin and doesn't over power the flavor of the shrimp. I have never liked alligator tail until I've had theirs. It's super soft and tender and not swampy tasting like gator tail can be. Everything is reasonably priced. I probably had like 10 huge shrimp on my sandwich and it was $10, including a side. I love the hospitality and the quality and flavor of the food can't be beat. My only negative comment is their hours. It's difficult to get all the way out to Dunedin in their limited open times, but we always make an effort to anyway because it's worth it. More...

Just discovered Happys Bayou Bites. What a find in Duneden. Â Enjoyed lunch outside shaded by umbrellas at picnic tables. The restaurant is dog friendly allowing us to bring our dog who was treated to water and dog treats by owner. Our lunch consisted of the crabcake poor boy sandwich which had an abundance of crab in the cakes, a very tasty sauce and your selection of a side. We also tried the fried shrimp poor boy plate(no bread); the shrimp was in a light batter fried to perfection. The gumbo description sounded delicious and will try that on the next visit because we will definitely be back. My husband wanted to sample local gator delicacies and this is one of the places we narrowed down. It turned out not just to have delicious gator bites but also excellent seafood. The blackened catfish and the crawfish sausage are definitely worth going there for. The server was very friendly. The owner and her husband actually cook in the kitchen. Very dog friendly place. Seems to be a favourite with locals. Highly recommend it to tourists in the Clearwater and Tampa area. More...

I am SOOOOOOO happy that Happy's is here. Living in N'Orleans spoiled me, so when I came back to Florida I knew I wasn't gonna get the opportunity to eat some good ole cajun cookin:. I had passed this place a few times before or after they were open. Today though, I made it my mission to get me some gumbo.Well, I got my gumbo, some red beans and rice, PLUS hushpuppies and homecakes.Mark and his staff are awesome! I am so glad we found this place!! Everything we tried was delicious!! Between the six of us, we had crawfish pies, fried catfish, fried shrimp po'boy, blackened catfish po'boy, and a basket of fried oysters. I'm a Louisiana girl, and those oysters were one of the best things I've ever tasted! The hush puppies and remoulade sauce were also delicious. Canned soft drinks were a $1 and there are some cookies for $1 and key lime pie on a stick available as well. Anytime we are visiting this area, Happy's will be a MUST GO for us. More...

What an incredible find! This little food truck stop had the best cajun food! My husband and I both ordered the po boys (blackened shrimp and crab cakes). The blackened shrimp was cooked perfectly and flavored well. The cab cakes were the size of my fist, crispy on the outside and warm on the inside. Absolutely delicious. We went on a Saturday and there was a local artist playing guitar and singing, was a great atmosphere. Their sauces are also so good! Definitely try both of their homemade sauces, and the hush puppies! Literally, nothing could have been changed to make my meal any better. Lastly, the staff is amazing! Our food came out quickly, we were checked on multiple times, and they support first responders (love this). Note: there is only outdoor seating, so be prepared for a few flies and the humidity of Florida. They could install a few fans to make the seating area a bit more comfortable. More...
