I had my H2H movers planned for 8:00am on a Saturday to move across the city under a tight timeline. The movers showed up at 7:45am and were ready to go immediately upon arrival. Additionally, the persistent follow-up prior to the moving date, including confirmation calls, quote calls, item confirmation, etc., was extremely appreciated. Finally, my movers were quick, efficient, communicative, and most importantly, careful with my items. I would highly recommend using H2H movers, and look forward to engaging with them in the future. This  moving company showed up on time and had me moved within the time frame I was expecting and explained the pricing and any fees for special moving supplies clearly and directly before the move. The price was almost exactly what their fee schedule called for. The three-person crew moved me swiftly and did not take a break until they were done and dealt with a few hindrances (freight elevator was out in destination building) efficiently. Nothing was broken and it all arrived. The crew asked me to direct where to place the furniture and heavy items so I wouldn't have to move them later. If you move and have a lot of  stuff, H2H is a good option More...

I didn't have a lot to move out of my studio but knew I didn't want to do it myself. Nor did I have much that was very valuable. So I went with the cheapest and most responsive company, H2H. We spoke on the phone after I had my quote and they had the wrong address and number of floors. I corrected the person I spoke with that I'm moving from a 2nd floor to a 3rd floor apartment and corrected the address. They came to move me and from what I can tell (haven't unpacked much yet) they did a good job. And they did it under 2 hours. But when it was time to pay the movers suddenly added the 3rd floor fee and said they didn't know. He said I can call the manager and I said okay, can you get them on the phone for me. He says his manager is a woman, Margot. He proceeds to have 3 separate phone calls in front of me in Russian all the while saying his manager is about to call me. 25 minutes later finally he hands me his phone and now his manager is a guy, Sergei. He tries to explain the 3rd floor fee but eventually they let it go because I explained that I went over the price several times with them beforehand, and nobody had mentioned this before. So I didn't pay it, which I partly feel bad for that if they were owed it, but believe it was an error on their part in my quote. Moving is stressful and to end that way took my exhaustion and stress over the top. And after all their calls and emails and even texts during the move saying they'd check in afterwards, after the move was complete nobody called or texted. For the price I think they did a good job at the move itself, but I left off feeling pretty bad after the experience. More...

My partner and I moved from Chicago to Washington DC and our experience was absolutely and thoroughly horrible. We selected H2H based on the positive reviews, but everything from the logistics to the communication was severely fragmented. Our belongings were lost for a period of time, we received a call saying our items were almost in DC when they should have been in storage, and then received another communication after escalating the issue that our items were in fact in storage. Then we had to talk to at least three different individuals to confirm our delivery date, none of them speaking to one another along the way. I have moved between states three other times and each one of those was much easier than this instance. On top of the broken processes, our items arrived with a layer of dust on them, which made me question if they were ever in a climate-controlled unit, and several of our pieces appeared to have been un-wrapped and then re-wrapped. If you are moving in Chicago, I recommend you use STI, that is who H2H outsourced our moving to and they were absolutely wonderful! If you are moving to another state, I strongly advise to select another company, even if they are slightly more expensive, the time you save in not having to manage the logistics of your own move (and of physically having to help unload your items) is well worth the extra money paid. My business partner and I needed to move out of our 2nd floor loft space.  We did weeks of planning to make this move happen, because our schedules are so busy.  We spent a lot of time interacting with H2H Movers on the phone, sending detailed itemized lists of the unit contents, and thorough descriptions of the space, parking, stairs, etc.6 young men showed up on the day of the move in 2 large moving trucks.  We also asked 6 of our family member to come in case extra hands were needed.  Long story short, the movers looked at the space, saw the work needed to complete the move, and cancelled the job.  We were shocked, especially after the detailed planning we did with the management team to make this happen.I highly recommend using a different moving service.  There's so many other reliable companies, don't risk it with H2H Movers.  These young guys just didn't want to do the work on that particular Saturday morning.  Even , the management team did not intervene, claiming "I can't make these guys work if they don't want to".  The website emphasizes female owned, but we only dealt with young men with no sympathy for our time/schedules.  Seems like a false claim to me.  Stay away from this company. Hands down the best movers I've ever worked with (besides Mayflower, who I don't think can be beat for interstate moves, but I was just moving locally). Due to an injury, I needed to work with a company that could also do 100% of my packing, and the service was an incredible value for how efficiently and carefully the friendly team of 4 worked. I have a lot of art, mirrors, and fragile items that I was worried about, and was impressed that nothing at all was damaged. It's also kind of embarrassing to be in the position of having to hire people to deal with all of the contents of your drawers, etc., but the team made me feel perfectly comfortable because they were so professional and respectful. I have the world's most annoying chihuahua (when there are strangers afoot), who I had secured, but he just growled rudely at them the whole time we were at the new home, and I thought it was so sweet that the team leader took the time to come over and try to make friends with the little guy to relax him. All around, the team was very caring, professional, clear, and easy to work with. The office schedulers are pretty difficult to understand, it was tough to get clear answers to questions I thought were pretty routine, and they didn't communicate to me that the first $500 of the bill needed to be provided in cash on the day of the move (which was ok, but it meant I had to leave the site to go get cash, and it also seemed pretty unnecessary if you're paying with Zelle, which is essentially an instant bank transfer that can't be reversed). I liked that they called to confirm my move, but both times they called, I had to remind them that I also scheduled packing service, because they asked me if my belongings were completely boxed and ready. But, any small communication difficulties with the office were completely neutralized by the amazing job the team did and how pleasant they were to work with. More...

Beware! Will not present a bill until last minute and will stand over you and bully you to pay in seconds and also try to charge a 3% on credit card use because their other method of payment is Cashiers Check, but we all know we need an amount to get a Cashiera Check, so. ..? Wants first $500 in cash, too??? Just ridiculous billing and payment processes unless you like to pay more and lots of fees too. We begged for a bill to process with approval thru our acctg department and even paid 75% up front before move was completed (they also were coming back the next day and even had card on file) and they did not like that. Blew up phones, threatened, and lead movers got indignant onsite with women after we made payment plans with office.  Their mover onsite Dimitri bullied the lady of the house and personal staff when we just needed time to review the bill which was inconvenient for THEM. They prefer folks that don't want bills and explanation. They like if you can't follow along with Math and don't call with too many questions also. The movers onsite did a great job but sadly due to the offices' lack of communication to them and proper estimates and bills to the customer after we asked repeatedly it created much chaos and a bad exp.  We scheduled five legs of a move with them and they canceled us as a result so we now may seek litigation given the terrible experience at the end. Such a shame because we organized a lot and wanted to have a good working relationship but we are a company so we require approval methods and bills which they REFUSED to give us. More...

I recently moved into a 1920's building in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago.  The moving company I initially chose to move my belongings from Los Angeles were horrible and I would rather chew glass than use them again as the broke may irreplaceable antiques.  This company also would not attempt to move a Restoration Hardware dresser I own that would not fit in my smaller than average elevator.   Fast forward 2 days.  After panicking and not knowing what to do as my very expensive 300lb dresser sat in the lobby of my building I began to call several moving companies (they all passed on the request).  I left a message for H2H Moving and a very kind woman called me back. I explained the situation to her.  Very quickly she put me at ease and asked me to send their photos of the staging location and the fire escape the workers would likely have to carry the dresser up. She scheduled a very competent team to be at my condo at 4pm the same day.  The team devised a plan and executed it. We used this service in our last move and were very happy with it. Went off perfectly. This time around was terrible. Their "system" went down and they had to get all the information again. Not a problem. But When it came to the move, they sent the wrong size truck so they had to make two trips which extended the time and they only comped the driving time to each of the places which was 1 hour. Nearly every piece of large furniture had some kind of mark on it that wasn't there before. The furniture that they took apart and put together again was wrong and missing screws that were not missing before.  Our couch would not fit in the apartment and I had told them to not push to hard to get it in, in case they put a hole in the wall or marked up the floors or something and that is exactly what happened. Large 8x5 inch hole in the wall along with a broken ceiling light fixture and scratches in the finished hardwood floors. It was my first time using a mover. Overall, the experience was great.I found this service on Yelp and asked for quote and availability by Yelp message. They responded me very quickly and instructed me to either provide my email or call them to get the accurate quote. I did call them and submit the inventory through a link. They estimated the move could be finished in 2.5 hours (including 0.5 hr travel time). As the new condo has strict time windows for move-ins, I struggled with finding a mover with availability. It was awesome they could accommodate my time when I scheduled the service only 5 days before the move. To make the reservation, they charged a $50 deposit, which is reasonable for a busy season. They had great customer service along the way - They made follow-up calls and sent me the required certificate of insurance on time. Two days before the move, they called me to confirm my booking and reminded me things to be prepared. They called right before and after the move to check in.Almost everything went smoothly on the day I moved. They called ahead to let me know when the movers would arrive. My booked time is 1 pm and the two movers showed up around 12:40. Though the old place had narrow entrances and didn't provide a parking space (which may incur a ticket), they managed to work very efficiently and professionally. With only a few pieces of furniture, everything was finished in less than 2 hours including the travel time, right within the estimated time in the quote. My TV and other fragile items arrived safely. The only thing I don't like was the courtesy, though I didn't take a star off. One of mover Nick spoke with me in an unpleasant and aggressive way. When I watched him moving my clothes into wardrobe boxes, he asked me whether he did anything wrong as he thought I was staring at him. I explained to him the reason was that I would like to leave some coats in the wardrobe. However, the conversation made me a bit uncomfortable as he asked in a questioning tone. In the near end of the move, I asked him politely if I could go back to the old place (10-minute walk away) to pick up my TV stands and if he could help assemble them. He told me that as the TV strands had been disassembled by myself, they could not do that since it was not covered by the insurance. I totally understood it and was fine with that, but he then brought up other things in an uncomfortable way. He said it was already over 2 hours. However, we started at 12:45 pm and ended up at 2:25 pm. It was far from 2 hours considering that an additional half an hour was charged as travel time. He argued that they could work in a slower speed that made the time longer. They were working fast in order to meet the next customer in time. I understood his perspectives, however, the way he talked is far from courtesy. I wish I were treated with good manners.Anyway, I recommend H2H movers to my friend considering the competitive hourly rate and efficiency. More...

I'm honestly wavering between a 3 and a 4 rating. I reached out and got several quotes, using the same metrics and H2H was by far the lowest.   I know that the quote is rarely what I actually end up paying- and given what other companies were quoting, that's what I was prepared to pay.   (I'd also like to note that I didn't go with them solely because they were the cheapest, but their response time was very quick and they were available for the date and time that I needed them).  Well, I ended up paying double than the quote.   They said I had a lot of stuff (which sure, but it was still just a one bedroom).    They said they had to bring in extra guys and an extra van (which they didn't charge me for the van, which I appreciate).   Loading up took nearly 3 hours but unloading in my new place was super quick.  Before they left, they asked if I had everything.  And I remember thinking, "Uh.  How would I know?"   But I nodded and said, "Looks good!" And when they called immediately after the move, I said it went very well.  About two hours later, I noticed something was missing.  I had a 40lb aloe plant, that I had raised from a little pup.  I repotted it nearly every year for 6 years and she grew into this giant Little Shop of Horrors plant.  During the windstorms of Chicago, she was the one thing that never blew off my balcony.   And now she is gone.  Before the move, they left me several voicemails and when I was able to pick up, it was an 8 minute spiel about their Covid protocols (they have masks and gloves but might not wear them because they're hot.   Try not to be in the same room as the movers- which is hard when I have a 1BR).   I think they called me once or maybe twice DURING the move to see how it was going and once immediately after the move to see how it went.  After I realized my plant was missing, over two days, I sent a text, left a voicemail, called back a second time and was told they'd call me back, and then I finally got an apology after texting a second time.    They were so impressive with the communication before the move but dropped off the earth when I lost something.  H2H basically said, that they checked and the movers don't remember it  (How do you not remember it?!) and that they don't usually move plants. I have searched my old place and my new place and it's not there.   I wish I went back to my old place and checked the dumpster or the area where the truck was parked, because I remember them rolling her on a dolly away.   It's not like she was "worth" a lot of money (although a new pot every year isn't cheap), but she was a plant I put a lot of hard work and care into, and she magically disappeared and I couldn't get a call back.   I'm still unpacking, so I don't know if anything else is gone, but I do know I'm damn sad about losing that plant. The WORST moving of experience. First off, my movers were schedule for a 9am start time. At 9:30am I called the company to find out where they were. I called back and realized I had been LIED TO as no movers were ever pulling into said parking lot. About another 30 mins go by I call again,  "oh I think they got lost" they said.  I was so furious. After getting the ring around by their office personnel, I asked for the manager. No manager ever called me. They ended up sending some random truck - it was yellow and no name tag of H2H. Also it was the smallest thing ever, my belongings BARELY FIT INTO IT. One mover arrived out of an Uber and had another moving companies t-shirt on. This was THREE HOURS LATER!!! By this time I had already lost my move out reservation for the freight elevator and there were two other moves scheduled that day! We had to wait for a regular serviced elevator as all the others were in use by moving companies that actually showed up on time. Also - I lost my loading doc reservation as two other trucks, again who showed up on time for other residents moves, were in use. This move of a one bedroom to a storage unit took nearly SEVEN hours because of this companies poorly managed and scheduled calendar. They really had "no clue" where the "original truck" was that left to depart for my job. It isn't just that - I wouldn't have minded had the company called me in advance to let me know their situation.Listen, I get it - life happens but customer service and informing your clients is key. The fact that they LIED to me saying the truck was originally "pulling into the parking lot" was so deceitful. I would NOT RECOMMEND H2H to anyone!!!! They made my moving experience a virtual hell. Other companies recommended a 5 man team  for $1400 which was more realistic. On the day of the move the foreman notifies me that they now only have a 3 man team so the time required for the move was going to be substantially longer and my estimate was now up to $2,100. Then after moving my stuff they said they "used over 50 boxes" so my cost was up to $2,590. I saved and counted all of the boxes. They used 39, not 50. So I have struggled with this review. The movers themselves kept going and were tireless. That said in the very beginning I argued back and forth with the management who provided me a quote that I thought she was undercounting logistics and how long it would take. She insisted that she could get it done. Long story short, I was right and they charged my $5k more than the original estimate which I thought was a pretty big miss. They also dented my piano right in the front - a big gouge out of the wood (they insisted it was old wood... so what, all antiques should be abandoned? But the piano isn't that old frankly), broke my grandfather clock, a chair (which they fixed on site), scratched some furniture...But really, scratches will happen. The reason for the two stars is simply because they lowballed me so badly. When I mentioned it to the moving guys they asked who did the estimate and laughed when I told them it was the owner. They said "she's always wrong." Great. I was the one left holding the empty money bag. They made absolutely no attempt to even remotely talk about the overage nor did they attempt to offer anything other than excuses for my damages... the grandfather clock will cost approx $2k to fix. Would I hire them again? Probably not unless it was for a much smaller less complex move. More...

One major thing was broken but the management called and has reimbursed me for it. They were a bit late but were very fast. The total came out to $200 more than the estimate. More...

My experience with H2H Movers was fantastic. First, they were able to accommodate my first choice of times even on a very busy Monday. My team of three movers was scheduled to start at 8am and I received a phone call at 8:01am that they were pulling in. The team lead gave me an 8 out of 10 for my packing, which I deserved because I didn't empty ALL my drawers. Despite my failings as a packer, they were efficient and professional and had me completely out of my studio in about an hour.As with any move, there's always a hiccup and for mine, it was another tenant at my destination building finishing a move during my elevator reservation. Despite the minor delay in getting started, the team rallied and got all of my things unloaded and safely into my new place. The day of estimate was 3.5 hours and the actual move time ended up being 2.5 hours, even with the delay. Everything arrived in the same condition it left. Not even a glass or dish damaged. My experience with H2H Movers was fantastic. Prices were reasonable and communication was top of the line. Everyone on the moving team was masked the entire time and distancing protocols were respected! More...

I would not even give 1 star if it would be possible. The worst company ever! Not keeping promised delivery dates at all and is trying to make us to remove the bad review. At the same time this company is not hesitating to ask us to pay money for their service. We were promised that our stuff will be delivered May 3 and we payed in full 2 days before as we thought we will get our stuff in time. As we said to them before we are out of town May 4, 5 and there would be no one to accept the boxes. And guess what? At the last minute in the evening May 3 they are calling to say, our stuff in getting late and they can NOT deliver on May 3 but May 4. How they even in the business still? Even can not count properly to deliver in time. I did not mention that they took our stuff on April 2. We ordered the storage since was not having a permanent address by that time, and April 12 we notified them about our permanent address where to deliver our boxes. Since April 12 boxes have not delivered still. Thanks for this company a family with 8 month pregnant woman  and toddler have nothing in their new house. We had to buy everything from scratch and we now not even sure if we ever get our stuff!!! The h2h company we are dealing with is in Chicago and we have moved to CA. Not like on Mars. More...

If I could add a 6th star, I would. Listen, folks, these guys are incredible. I had a three-man crew, led by Dimitri - they worked incredibly hard and efficient - they are the 6 Sigma of Movers - they communicate well, are observant of making sure they don't bump furniture on the doors or in the halls - and have a great knowledge of the city and all the nooks and crannies of accessing loading docks, freight elevators, etc. When it comes to moving locally within the city of Chicago, there's moving companies - and then there's H2H Movers. Making moves in the Windy City a breeze! More...

Absolutely terrible customer service.  Good luck trying to get someone to answer the phone.  Instead, I had a woman named Val reach out via email and ask for my move dates so she could send me a link so I could send them a deposit.  They try to play the card "we're a woman owned business" yet have take no accountavbility for their actions or understand the meaning of good customer service. When I finally did get a call back from her, the time slot I needed was taken and she didn't even have the common decency to apologize.  Poor business acumen for sure.  Stay clear of this place...that is if you can get through to them to answer the phone. The employees of H2H were all as professional as could be!  They addressed all my concerns when I called their customer service line every time I had a question and moved my appointment a couple of times to work better with my building's elevator appt schedule and other things coming up.  During the actual move, we had a 2-hour window for the elevator and had everything out of the apartment within an hour, out of the building within another 15 minutes, and off to the new house.  They even made it easy for a small fee (really, it was small) to add an extra step to grab a friend's couch they were giving us and they only spent about 10 minutes there to get the couch safely and swiftly into the truck from their 3rd floor walk-up apt.  Finally, at the house, we had 3 floors and tight spaces to negotiate.  There was NO WAY my husband and I would EVER have gotten the couch from the back door into the living room without damaging lights or walls, but they did it quickly.  Unloading everything from the truck only took about an hour, and they reassembled bedframes for all 3 beds we moved in and helped arrange things in every room.  We even flipped the configuration in the living room, realizing it was not optimal, before they left.  They were happy to do all of this and we were very comfortable right after they left.  Also, they did have masks on the entire time and were respectful of our COVID-19 concerns as well as those of our friends and the policies of our old apartment building.Use H2H next time you move!
