Jay teaches both kids and adults. With both, he's patient, calm, and encouraging. He's willing to work with total beginners and celebrate progress. If a kid comes with a song he thought up, Jay can take that tune, put chords to it, and let the kid create his own song to practice. And, he knows his stuff! Our son has been taking guitar lessons with Jay for about 2 years now. We are quite impressed with his patience and skill in teaching kids who don't always see the value in what their parents think they should do. :) As an 8 year old boy our son doesn't quite appreciate the value of learning to play an instrument, but we know how important it is for his on-going brain development. We can also see how he improves and grasps the concepts from week to week. I would recommend Jay to anyone looking for music lessons for their kids! More...

Jay is a phenomenal music teacher. He is patient with the kids and gives them gentle correction. He makes the lessons fun and tailors it to their individual interests and goals. Our family has taken private guitar lessons with Jay for over a year now, and for part of the time my son took ukulele. All 3 of my kids love Jay. I really appreciate his flexibility in scheduling when my week gets busy. He lets me stay during the lesson if I want, or drop off as needed. And his lessons are reasonably priced. My twin five year olds love their guitar lessons with Jay. They look forward to their lessons every week. Jay is patient with our sometimes rambunctious boys. He makes learning guitar a lot of fun! One of our boys is more focused and learns more quickly than the other, which is not a problem for Jay. Jay is one of a kind. My daughter loves having him teach her guitar. While she doesn't realize the value of learning at such a young age, I do.
