I used GG for my daughter's graduation celebration this weekend!  I had them drop off the food and it couldn't have been any nicer!   The food was displayed beautifully and each item had its respective serving utensil.  The driver set up everything and was prompt and courteous!  I did an assortment of appetizers and everything was delicious!!!   I highly recommend Goovin' Gourmets. One word: Phenomenal. From working with Jamie on the menu, to the pre-event walk-through, to the actual event itself, everyone was so friendly and super easy to work with. Response time was fast, all of our requests were met, and to top it off the food was both delicious and affordable. Specifics I contacted Jamie at the last minute - less than one week before our party - because our other caterer had just cancelled on us. She was amazing; I can't say enough good things about her. She put together a fabulous menu, answered all my questions, was super on the ball with change requests, and really just made me feel like we were in good hands. We had somewhat extensive restrictions with food allergies, which were handled so well. Everyone at the party felt confident in what they were eating and all had plenty to choose from. At the party, our servers Britney and Andrea were wonderful. They were extraordinarily helpful with various tasks (we had a hot chocolate bar and they are the only reason it worked!) and did a great job all night. The food itself: SO. YUM. Matt and I got married at Westover Plantation in August 2017 (my mom also left a review, below). We had a big wedding - 250 under a tent during one of the hottest times of year and the chance of thunderstorms at a moment’s notice. We were so lucky and got beautiful weather, but either way Alaina and her team truly took the stress of all these possibilities off my mind so that I was able to relax before, during and after the wedding. And, as always, the food was excellent. Still get compliments on it! Presentation was beautiful and thoughtful, and no stone was left unturned. Alaina’s attention to detail is exceptional. She collaborated so smoothly and seamlessly with all our other vendors. I remember all of the staff being so gracious and accommodating to me and my husband during our reception (although I was so saddened to miss the beautiful cocktail hour!) and to our guests as well. After having worked with Groovin’ Gourmets for numerous other events, my daughter chose them to cater her wedding last August at Westover Plantation. We had about 250 guests and needed help with not only the food, but the rentals as well. Westover is a location that is special to our family, but there is little to no infrastructure, so I’d had some concerns about catering her wedding there. As it turned out, there was no difficulty at all. Alaina was our go-to person for everything. She worked side by side with Classic Party Rentals to make sure that we, and the Groovin' staff, had everything we needed to ensure that the evening went smoothly. Her expertise and her ability to work with the property owners and other vendors were invaluable. It gave me so much peace of mind to know that no detail was overlooked. The wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all took place at Westover. Groovin’ supplied bartenders and servers for the evening who were remarkably professional and experienced. All of the food was prepared behind the scenes in the nearby catering tent. Neither we nor our guests were distracted by, or even really aware of, any of their preparations. We had several food stations perfectly situated around the tent, and our 250 guests were seated. Alaina calculated exactly what was needed for the cocktail hour and for dinner. We were grateful to have plenty of food, but not a lot of waste. Her experience in those calculations was so helpful! The food was served hot and it was as delicious as we had expected. After our initial meeting with Alaina, and a subsequent meeting with she and other vendors at Westover, I confidently left all of the details in their hands. Sure enough, everything went without a hitch. As the mother of the bride, I was grateful to be able to enjoy our guests,and I never had to give any of the details a moment of thought. It’s also worth mentioning that when the evening was over, the staff continued to work diligently to make sure that there was no trace of a party left behind—rentals were packed up and trash was carted off quickly. I don’t know quite how that magic happened, but I turned around and it was all over! From start to finish Alaina Hall was incredible to work with. We left our initial meeting with Alaina feeling like we won the jackpot - booking someone with so much experience, knowledge and professionalism. Enough can't be said about how easy to work with, honest, and helpful she was throughout the whole process. Also, being in touch was effortless and making payments was simple.

On top of having a great point of contact for all things food, linens, set-up, tear down, and staff- the food was AMAZING. I had an amazing experience working with Alaina for my wedding. I really enjoyed working with Groovin Gourmets for our wedding reception. My husband and I love food, and we wanted a more "personalized" menu than just standard wedding fare, so we tested out catering companies by asking if they could make some of our favorite foods. Groovin did a fantastic job - they prepared our dishes for the tasting, and the chef Tim came out during the tasting to talk with us about what we liked and disliked, and made changes accordingly. Amanda never had a problem making changes to our menu and recommending amounts of food based on our changing guest count. Groovin also did our rentals and did a good job. Alaina gave us great advice at our venue walk-through and helped us finalize everything we needed. Initially, it was hard making an exact apples-to-apples comparison between the different catering companies our venue works with (it seems like they each included different sets of things in their initial quotes), but I did some fairly extensive research - Groovin was the best value and gave us great service. My fiance(wife now!) and I had our wedding  recently and the staff at Groovin' were on top of everything at the reception!  Alaina was punctual, returned emails/phone calls, and basically ensured that any loose ends/last minute changes were completely and competently handled. The onsite staffing were professional, courteous, and friendly. Even more importantly were the appetizers and main courses that were served which were SUPERB!!  So this is the caterer to go with....! Groovin' Gourmet is excellent! We had chicken, beef, and tofu kabobs, rice pilaf, and salad for our wedding reception, and crab dip, hummus platter, wasabi and veggies, and peppadew peppers as appetizers. Yum! We had just worked with a different caterer in a different city and were disappointed that the taste testing food was extremely different from the final catering. With GG, though, the food was excellent at both the tasting and the wedding, as well as leftovers! Additionally, the staff at Groovin' Gourmet did an excellent job with planning, coordination, setting up the tables, serving, bartending, and clean-up; they had everything under control and the staff were very professional. The reason I gave them only 4 stars, though, was because we could have used more guidance pre-wedding. We needed someone to ask detailed questions about table settings, tablecloths, runners, napkin folding, flower displays, and what is needed at venues that we need to decide. Since we didn't have a wedding planner, it would have been helpful if there was some guidance or questions upfront for us to consider and coordinate with GG, primarily for venue (not food) issues. We got off to a little bit of a bumpy start with Groovin' - we went through 3 coordinators in a matter of 6 months, with less than ideal communication between the hand-offs - that left us feeling unsettled about how much money we were spending with this company on what was to be one of the most important days of our lives. However, Groovin' won us over at our tasting, where both taste and quality shone through and Brandon (the owner) made a point of acknowledging our initial trepidation & assuring us that we would not be disappointed. We weren't. Angelica (our catering coordinator) and Tim (our chef) pulled off an amazing event, with food that left people happy, full, and a little stunned, saying things like "I didn't think wedding food could taste that good" and "that was the best food I've EVER had at a wedding!" Angelica worked well with our "day of" coordinator and the event staff were polite, gracious, pleasant and professional. Despite the initial bumps, I would recommend them highly. More...

Blown away by the AMAZING service and delicious food!We used Groovin' Gourmet for Prevent Child Abuse Virginia's 5th Annual Be Mine Ball at the Science Museum of Virginia this past weekend.  While I have been able to enjoy Groovin' at several work related events that were catered, I had never seen them cater an event like this.  We worked with Emily from the start to finish and her attitude and willingness to help us was transparent from the beginning.  She was a joy to work with and I look forward to working with her again.  She knew her stuff and made sure that every last detail to the candles on the table (that I forgot) weren't missing.  I highly recommend asking to work with her!I can not stress enough how smoothly Groovin' Gourmet ensured our event would be.  I was worried about the amount of time it was going to take us to set-up by Emily had proper staffing to make sure that at 5PM sharp, all of the tables we requested to have set up first were set-up, arranged, and drapped in linens before we even had a chance to blink our eyes!A few of the food highlights... passed crabcakes, sweet potato biscuits with ham, a risotto station, and much much more.  The food really couldn't have been better.  Lastly, the bartenders and servers were attentive, friendly, and did an amazing job to help make our event classy and seamless.  Without hesitation, I recommend Groovin' Gourmet for your next event! Brandon and his staff catered our company's Christmas Party this year. The event was held at our house. We asked Grovin' Gourmets to prepare, deliver, and help set-out the food. They were extremely helpful from planing to delivery. The delivery team showed up precisely on time with hot, tasty, and great looking prepared foods. So as I was preparing all the docs for a meeting it dawned on me... Nobody ordered lunch! It was less than 24 hours until the meeting. I looked on yelp as always especially in a city that I am not all that familiar with. Called groovin gourmets and so glad I did. It was past 4pm so they don't answer the phone. They do however give you the option to leave message for someone to call back the next am to place emergency order, as they call it and it indeed was. Sure enough at 823 the next morning I got a call. I wish I would have wrote down the persons name bc she was so nice and super helpful. I didn't have a menu all I told her was that I wanted something hot. She recommended the chicken, rice steamed veggies and bread. I know it sounds kinda cafeteriaish but everyone raved about the moist delicious chicken and the awesome rolls. They also had drink and dessert options. The delivery person was right on time and set it all up for us. All in all they are professional, friendly, delicious and reliable. I will defiantly use groovin gourmets again! Groovy was one of the cheaper caterers that we talked to, but they were fabulous! Good food, good servers, prompt in responding to my emails, and they tracked down our toasting flutes that went missing after the reception. We were very happy. :)
