For Westwood boulevard the vibe inside is pretty good and very modern.The Brussels sprouts were the biggest hit--I highly recommend them. I came here for dineLA on a whim (was just around in the area and happened to pick this place that had a dineLA menu). I would actually give this place a 4. 5 instead of a 5. It's really cool and we got a chefs counter table (where you can literally see them preparing your food - I love chefs counters). We got a chilled summer corn soup shooters (5/5), Japanese sword squid salad (5/5), my boyfriend got a tagliatelle and I got a seared striped bass. The tagliatelle was amazing. My striped bass sauce wasn't very flavorful, i found myself wishing for a more flavorful sauce to compliment my bass - my fish was cooked to perfection but could have used some salt or other spices. The veggies that came with my fish was very good. After dinner, we got a melon dessert, and I wasn't a fan. The melon sauce was too sweet, and there were what tasted like corn flakes. My boyfriend really liked it, but I wish there was something else to try. They gave us mini churros to take home after (the reason why I bumped it to 5 stars, because I love little things like that). Pretty good place that is just a hop and a skip away from my place. We came here during Dine LA this summer for their lunch special. The burger is pretty good, but I don't think it is the best on LA. I will say their tater tots and brussels spouts are spot on, and would go back to try their chicken sandwich, which seems to have gotten great reviews as well. The Dine LA special also came with either smores or a chocolate chip cookie -- definitely choose the cookie! The smores are goopy, but the cookie is crispy around the edges and chewy/soft on the inside. It seems like a fast casual place, where seating is first come first serve, but they will bring the food to you. The pricing for the lunch menu is better than the dinner menu with similar offerings. Wine specific review: Recently visited this spot with a friend specifically to have wine and they were very accommodating to us even though we had no intention of ordering food. They had an amazing wine flight option that allowed us to try three different wines equaling about 1.5 glasses in total. The options were very intriguing and not too limited. Consistently tasty dinners. Diver scallops are perfectly cooked. The smoked duck is breast is moist with a perfectly crisp skin (I tend to think most places overcook their duck). The cod and steak are also excellent options. The Brussels sprouts, miso eggplant and cauliflower are fabulous sides. Excellent service without any attitude. I love Fundamental LA! This is the best dinner restaurant in Westwood in my opinion. I take my family and friends there for wonderful dinner gatherings and birthday celebrations. The ambience is nothing but perfect in the evening. Get their steak tartare and tempura asparagus fries to start with. If you want to spice things up, the miso eggplant is top notch. Tagliatelle, smoked duck breast, hanger steak are our favorites. The diver scallops is delicious but it's a small portion for an entree size. The braised short rib has a phenomenal southeast Asian twist to it (spicy, tart and salty) Don't leave without getting their delicious churros. That is by far the best dessert selection. I had the pleasure of meeting the restaurant owner, Woogene Lee. You can tell right away his professionalism, humility and passion are reflected in how he treats his customers, how he handles success and how he views the restaurant. This company knows how to cater weddings better than anyone else I’ve seen in the business! Their staff is absolutely professional, responsive, personable, and so kind. They were at the ready to serve the guests in a timely manner, but also made sure all vendors were taken care of in a discreet manner as well. The food was absolutely visually stunning, and full of amazing flavors! Everything tasted so fresh and each dish complimented the next one. I was so thankful at the end of the event for the catering captain who immediately broke his staff in to teams and assigned them cleaning duties, which kept the evening running smoothly! More...

Will be back! I had been to this restaurant for lunch a few years back and loved their sandwich and salad focused menu. I recently went back for dinner and was even more impressed by the quality of their food and service. I ordered their mushroom pasta and a spritz, which I would not hesitate to order again. They have a great selection of wines and a cool restaurant layout. Although parking is a little tough, it's worth the few extra minutes spent finding street parking. Great option for lunch for the Westwood working crowd. I ordered the BLT and a chocolate chip cookie (which was small, but decent). The BLT was amazing though! Perfectly toasted bread, crispy bacon, mayo, tomato jam versus regular tomatoes (an interesting twist) and it was spicy, sweet and salty all at the same time. A unique take on a classic sandwich. We had a great experience at fundamental LA! In all honesty we knew we would as we are using them for our wedding catering this coming fall so we already know how delicious the food is but had never dined in the restaurant. We got a good amount of food to share. My BF loved the mixed olives while I enjoyed the brussel sprouts & cornbread with honey butter. Guys that honey butter!!! He tried the hanger steak and I did the braised short rib for entrees. Really well balanced complex flavors in their dishes, you can tell they take time to pair things together to get those distinct flavors. Service was great as well and they treated us to a nice champagne toast at the end! We look forward to visiting their downtown location as well soon!
