The review is solely based on their burger. That's the only item i've had off their menu. i've had it with sweet potato fries and with tots. The burger is perhaps one of the best burgers in all of America. Definitely a 5 star burger. FYI i've only gotten it for delivery. I've never dined in or picked it up myself. Difficult to give FHG in Evanston a review as the service and food are so inconsistent. Had a superb Caesar salad with grilled chicken on a Friday night, and an atrocious burger topped with a slab of cold cheese and tasteless French fries on the following Sunday. Likewise the service: attentive waiter on Friday and was repeatedly ignored on the following Sunday. Gave up trying to get my waiter's attention and left what I thought covered the cost of the meal. I ordered a burger online using their web page, 20 minutes for pick up. I showed up 15 minutes later for my prepaid burger and the waitstaff seemed puzzled? They conferred around the bar computer, the waitress went into the back kitchen and returned telling me it would be a few minutes. After waiting over 25 minutes in this place, late into the night with only a handful of lingering customers. My single burger was finally ready and given to me. Total time for my burger to go order was well over 40 mins with few customers???. It's too bad the waitstaff did not have the common sense to tell me the on line order was never given to the cook until I arrived to pick it up. They take reservations for outside! It was a beautiful night and it was so nice to be able to reserve a table ahead of time. Amanda was our server and she was great! I cannot speak highly enough of our experience at Firehouse Grill. We had an event on the patio and everything from our conversations with the event planner, to the morning of, to the event itself was perfect. They went above and beyond to accommodate us. The food was delicious and all of our guests enjoyed it and couldn't say enough good things about the buffet brunch. The staff were attentive, professional and so helpful. Thank you Firehouse Grill!! I give the food 4 stars but the service a 0. When you consider a gritty dining room combined with stinky restrooms, the score goes down to 1 star. Several male waitstaff had badditudes and service was s-l-o-w even despite few customers. Furthermore, the place was dirty and gritty and the bathrooms smelled like they haven't been cleaned in a month. This place has been around for decades but at this rate won't be here much longer. Where do I even begin....You can't convince me that the positive reviews, especially the over the top gushing ones aren't paid. Just look at their facebook page: they've disabled commenting and the pictures of their food are enough to make you want to puke, but I digress:Worst restaurant experience from start to finish:My 8 year old son's pizza wasn't even thoroughly cooked! Read on below and you'll find review after review about food poisoning. The cheese on my child's pizza wasn't even melted! I could make a better frozen pizza at home!The mac and cheese was watery and disgusting, my burger was child sized and had ROTTEN onion on it, and the nachos are literally 12 nachos IN A CIRCLE ON A PLATE! What a joke!!! How this place hasn't been shut down is beyond me after all of the food poisoning claims.The manager actually attempted to argue with us that it's "tostada style" LMAO she clearly has no clue what that means. Outstanding! We worked very late and missed taking our daughter out for her 25th birthday. Hadn't been to Firehouse Grill in many years, but they were open at 8:30 at night and we were just leaving work with her, so we picked up take-out. What started as a bummer of a birthday for her changed in a bite! She ordered the cheeseburger and termed it "absolutely amazing!". The Susan Michigan Salad was mine, and equally delicious. My husband was thrilled they had spaghetti, and was just as thrilled at his choice. Pat and Molly have certainly changed up the menu, and continue to do so. 3 Stars for the cool place. Old firehouse with the fire poles coming through the ceiling. Big garage doors turned into multi-pane glass windows. It didn't look like they open in the summer time. That would be nice... 0 stars for the food and service. Service was mediocre. Thanks for checking in and asking if I want another drink AFTER we were done eating. Why is it so hard to find good waitstaff. Even more disappointing, why doesn't the establishment train and expect good service be given to their guests? 0 stars for the food. I had a burger with fries, it was good but not worth $17! My wife had the "Big as your head" grill cheese... (what can I say she loves grilled cheese). So it was $19! "I can't wait to see this", I said to myself. And, yep, major disappointment! I expected a gourmet foot long a la Park Tavern (Rosemont) or some homemade bread that filled an entire plate (free ideas). But nope... it was 2 grill cheese sandwiches side by side on good 'ol Wonderbread. Then I thought maybe they ran out of their artisan bread... waitress said nope. Sorry... that happens often. What? Really? Just terrible. On the other hand, our Basil Hayden rocks and Cucumber and soda adult beverages were very good... at least we had one. So maybe it's just a bar with a boujee menu. Idk. Wow! We hosted our son's 16th birthday party in the private room and it could not have gone better. We did the same thing three years ago for our older son and it was great but this year we had the added challenge of Covid. They were completely flexible and understanding with us. All the kids had been tested at school and tested again before the event, so we knew we may need to change plans at the last minute. They assured us over and over again they would work with us.We know restaurants are struggling too during this crazy time but if you are planning an event I would recommend the Firehouse Grill. They have great food and the event space is open and airy. With three pool tables, guest can enjoy socially distant fun. It is really a win all the way around!We'll host another party there soon!
