How long have you been interested in magic?
Before the internet, I was famous for throwing parties attended by Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Demi Moore, David Lee Roth, John Stamos, David Faustino, and Alice Cooper, just to name a few. I used to give my friends marketing items with my name and Fig logo on them such as pens, key chains, calculators (called FIGulators), calendars, etc. Over 20 years ago, my marketing rep talked me into giving decks of cards with my face on them. I did not know a single card trick and when I gave someone my deck of cards, a friend showed me a card trick which I showed to someone else. Before long, other recipients of my deck of cards showed me card tricks they knew. Soon I knew 6 cards tricks, none of which I do now. Then I invented card tricks to become one of the best in the world.
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
I’m a magician/comedian who does a show or walk-around magic to amaze and dazzle your guests when I ask people to name a playing card which is already in my hand, hat or elsewhere.
What do you love most about your job?
Throughout school, I have always been known as a show-off. I loved to entertain people and make them laugh. Many people say they have been to the Magic Castle and never saw anybody there or elsewhere as good as me.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I created the industry of full-floor law suites concept for attorneys and professional called “Fegen Suites,” (now known as “shared space”). I operated 150 full-floor suite with 600 full-time employees before the market crashed in 1982 (similar to what happened in 2008). I had 7.5 million square feet of commercial office space across the country with 600 employees and 10,000 tenants in 26 states. After that, I started entertaining and doing magic and enjoy life by entertaining people.
