I paid DJ Tommy Dee $2,650 to deejay my wedding as well as to provide a Digital Music Copy of the wedding playlist within 3-4 weeks following the event.

It is now more than 20 weeks after my wedding and not only has Tommy not provided the wedding playlist, but he has gone totally radio silent. He is not responding to my text messages, e-mails, or phone calls. He just took my money and now no longer feels the need to complete his end of our contractual agreement.

He is currently in Material Breach of our written contract. And I now have the unfortunate task of having to file a lawsuit against my Wedding DJ for Breach of Contract for what appears to be no legitimate reason whatsoever other than the fact that he just don’t feel the need to complete his end of the bargain (but had no problem accepting the full amount of money in traceable Venmo payments leading up to the event).

If I could do it all over again, I would not have hired Tommy. Having a digital music copy of the wedding playlist was actually the main reason I sought out to hire Tommy. It was the predominant topic of conversation in my very first correspondence to Tommy, as well as throughout the entire wedding planning process. Accordingly, after all the planning that went into it, to now not have that playlist is extremely upsetting to both me and my wife.

Moreover, Tommy had a number of issues with respect to his professionalism that I was willing to overlook at the time. But, his recent behavior has now made it impossible for me to continue doing so. So I’d like to detail those professionalism issues below in hopes of warning other couples about Tommy and to advise them to take caution in hiring someone in a role with so much power over your special day:

(1) In the almost two years I corresponded with Tommy leading up to our wedding he blew off the vast majority of our planned phone meetings. As I sit here and review all of our documented e-mails, phone calls, and text messages, I’m actually blown away by how many times Tommy would schedule a phone meeting with me and then just completely blow it off. Blowing off scheduled phone meetings as if it were “cool” to do that over and over and over again adds an unnecessary layer of stress in the weeks leading up to your wedding.

(2) He also drank heavily at our wedding. I know this because he asked me - the groom - to go up to the bar for him on multiple occasions because he needed to be “loosened up” in order to do his job effectively. Trust me when I say this: it certainly doesn’t feel like a choice when your Wedding DJ asks you to go to the bar for him right before he’s about to start mixing for the dance section of the night. He even had the audacity to make a comment that went something like this: “Would you believe that some people have a problem with me drinking while I DJ their weddings?” Which is an interesting comment to make because it tells me that he has been reprimanded for this behavior before and he hasn’t altered it. Of course, I’m sure his drinking had nothing to do with his overall level of sloppiness towards the end of the night.

Planning a wedding is stressful enough (especially during a pandemic). And Tommy’s unprofessional behavior both leading up to and during the event made it unnecessarily more stressful. And if that were not already bad enough, the fact that he has now decided not to complete our contract that is very clearly in writing after being paid in full is unbelievable to me. I now have to spend my time and money filing a lawsuit against my own Wedding DJ for not completing our agreement for reasons unknown to me because he is now unreachable.

So I’m writing this review to warn other couples about DJ Tommy Dee and his business: Evolution Entertainment.

On a personal note, I really wanted this all to work out. Honestly, I liked Tommy and thought he was a nice guy with some flaws that I was willing to overlook. But, he really pushed this whole thing to a point where his flaws have become impossible to overlook.

Tommy shouldn’t be in this business if he’s not going to honor his agreements.

I was going to gift that playlist to my wife on our anniversary, but Tommy has made that an impossibility now.

We hired Evolution Entertainment for our wedding and I can’t say enough good things about them. We have gotten so many compliments on the music and how nice Joe was. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was dancing and enjoying themselves. The music was the perfect mix for everyone; classics, todays music, and throw backs. Joe really listened to what we wanted and exceeded our expectations. I also felt like the whole night flowed seamlessly given Joe’s direction, announcements, and his cooperation with our wedding coordinator. Joe has a great personality which is important in a DJ, he is professional, fun, makes you feel at ease as he handles each event through the night. One of the best decisions we made for our wedding was hiring EE and we highly recommend! More...
