This is definitely not your typical neon pagoda oriental restaurant. We’ve been patrons of the Evergreen for over 20 years and can honestly say the meals have always been delicious. It does get crowded at lunchtime but the wait is worthwhile. Ordering off the Chinese menu vs the regular americanized menu offers extra delicious options. One of our favorites is the Sparerib Noodle Soup - big chunks of sparerib, large noodles, and delicious broth - yum! Add the Leek Pies and whatever appetizer you’re hungry for and there is more than enough food for two with leftovers to take home. Visiting friends who took me to Evergreen. We had 3 different dishes. The waitress brought us what we needed quickly. I would give 5 stars but the waitress never checked to see if I needed a refill or if we wanted anything else. Additionally, I am used to having more sauce (general tso etc) but all the dishes were served on plates with little sauce or gravy. Otherwise, the food was delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Excellent food. Could not have had a better experience. I can't speak to in person dining because I got delivery but the food was amazing. Xiaolongbao was great and probably the best I've been able to find in Michigan, hot pepper chicken (cc4) was absolutely amazing. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Ann Arbor. Great food and environment. I go there almost weekly for lunch or dinner and have never been disappointed. If you are not a Chinese and don't know what to order from the authentic Chinese menu, I'd highly recommend the "green beans with pork" and "Taiwanese style chicken".
