My friend and I were looking for a decent dinner and just stumbled into Et Voila.  We were very pleased with our dinner.  Wound up sitting at the bar as we were a 6 PM walk-in on a Saturday night.  Bartender was quite nice and efficient. I ordered one of their five different mussel options and it was terrific - the recommendation from the waitress was spot on.  Room seemed quite pleasant, the noise level was acceptable - easy to talk with my friend.  Very nice bordeaux by the glass which was reasonably priced. I dined at Et Voila last night as a solo diner. Service was friendly but a little slow.  In addition, there was a mix-up in communication among the wait staff, resulting in a delay in putting in my order. Nevertheless, the meal was excellent.  The craft cocktail was good, and my trout entree with spinach and sweet souffle on the side were excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. More...

I have had both brunch and dinner at Et Voila, and both times the food has been well-prepared and delicious. I particularly really enjoy their brunch, and swear their crab-stuffed waffle is the best brunch item I have ever eaten in my life - and I have had a LOT of brunch. This is the perfect spot to bring family and friends to impress them with a cute local bistro. I have docked one star because I feel as though the portions are a bit on the small size for the cost, which I understand is the fashion of their bistro, but I often find myself still feeling hungry after consuming a the complimentary bread, and app, and my entree. However, this could just be due to the items I've ordered. On the occasions I've been, it hasn't been busy, but I have heard it can be quite bustling for dinner on some nights. Super cute bar area which I haven't personally sat in, but looks like an enjoyable place to have a drink. I love that they offer Saturday AND Sunday brunch as well. They have a few tables out front for when the weather is nice, but the inside of the restaurant is lovely and recently updated as well. Highly recommend! More...

My family and I had an absolutely wonderful dinner here this past weekend. Had to dock a star because the tables in the back are too tight, making for lots of awkward comings and goings of patrons. But truly, that is the only negative thing I would say about the experience. The menu is stellar, and it was incredibly tough to pick something to eat. Ultimately everyone was very pleased with their dishes. Highlights included the grilled octopus special (covered in BBQ sauce - don't knock it 'til you try it), the beef stew, and their award-winning mussels, which were so plump and flavorful. Fries were to perfection. Even the water glasses were pleasurable.Go for the Merveilleux dessert. It's so light and fluffy.Next time, I'd ask to be sat in the front dining room instead of in the back. More...

My boyfriend took me here after the rainiest half marathon in the entire world. I was literally running thru 20-yards of water up to my ankles in non-stop rain. After I was all showered and changed I needed to refuel. I wanted something comforting - French onion soup, mussels, croque monsieur, eggs Benedict so I thought of Et Viola. It's a narrow, simply decorated Belgian restaurant in the Pacific Palisades. I had the croque monsieur. The size of the sandwich was larger than my face served with  a side salad (they all come with that). My boyfriend had the salmon eggs benedict. They were both très bien! Rich, creamy and delicious! The server was very attentive. She had my numerous mimosas out to me in two-minutes. For dessert we shared the lemon crepes, very tangy and light. A nice dessert to end the meal. Easily 5 stars! It's one of these Sundays when we hadn't made any plans but felt that a brunch would be nice to have. So remembered this place from a recent list in the WPost of recommended brunch places in DC so decided to go there. It's a neighborhood restaurant in the Palisades area, not metro accessible but if you drive there is off street parking. The restaurant has a small, unassuming facade, and pleasant, contemporary decor. There is a bar area in front with a few high tables. Dining area in the back is divided, right side is long and narrow, left side has a squarish room that can be closed off for private events - which today had a party of about 15 - and the kitchen plus another dining section in back. We were seated in the narrow dining room at a two top along one wall, with a view of the private room through a window. A nice space as I generally dread being seated at two tops that are set in a tight parallel row like the banquettes on the other side. The place was quite full by 12:30 pm and had a nice, happy atmosphere. The menu had a number of egg dishes - we tried the eggs Benedict with salmon, and eggs gratin bechamel, both came with a very fresh salad and were well prepared and tasty, the gratin was interesting as I'd never had it before, with a layer of sliced hard boiled eggs. The desserts were disappointing for me - would have been good if they had at least some kind of cake. That aside, this place is a good find, for everyday dining as well as small group functions. This is an authentic feeling Euporean place. Went for brunch. I misordered (eggs gratin bechamel) and thought my meal was just okay, but the rest of our groups' meals looked yummy. Totally had food envy over the meurette eggs! We also got the rabbit terrine to share and it was tasty, also not something I would traditionally order. Coffee was great, but this American was disappointed there were no free refills. Overall I'd love to go back and try something else. More...

I love Et Voila so much! I love Belgian food and I get nostalgic every time I eat real Belgian fries. Et Voila is probably my favorite Belgian restaurant in D. C. Street parking is usually available, but in the evenings there's room around the area as well. Making a reservation is definitely a good idea, since despite their expansion, the restaurant is still pretty small. I've been several times now, and everything has been absolutely delicious. Most recently, I started with a Lindemans Peach lambic. They have a decent selection of beers, a lot of bottles and then about three on tap. You should get a good Belgian beer! They also have wine and cocktails. We had a cheese platter as the appetizer, which was really nice. It came with five different types of cheese (I think my favorite was the Chimay - brie-like), cheese puffs, nuts, and dried apricots. I loved it.For my main course I had the braised lamb, which was heavenly. I adore lamb and this dish was so tender and pretty big, which was great. The cavatappi that it came with was really great in the sauce, and I loved dipping the bread that comes at the beginning of the meal into the sauce too. I also got a side of fries, because how can I possibly resist? They're really good, they have this TASTE that reminds me of the friteries in Belgium, I can't explain it. Dip them in mayo for the authentic Belgian experience. To end our meal, I had a merveilleux, which is a meringue-based dessert. Their merveilleux is raspberry and chocolate and it is incredible. So sweet and tart while being super light and fluffy.Every time I've been to Et Voila it's been stellar and I leave feeling not just full, but happy! More...

Et Voila Restaurant can have a hundred great restaurants within a two mile radius. It doesn't matter. Et Voila competes with itself and maintains excellent food, wine and service. Even though it is considered a lovely Washington restaurant, we, neighbors in the Palisades, consider it a neighborhood restaurant.Et Voila is like that. It is intimate, consistent and always, a surprise. It remains the same but always changes. The quality and service are consistently exceptional. The food is delicious and interesting. And the wine list, that has a varying price range, never ceases to interest, surprise and educate me.  Yes can choose to have a simple burger (try the mussel burger and fries) or more elegantly (try the sole or halibut). When in doubt, you can always have the mussels, fries and a delicious Belgium beer. But one is never disappointed. The creativity, care and consistent quality is worth the visit and more.So even though there are so many great restaurants within a two mile radius, Et Voila only competes with itself. This is cute little cozy restaurant that could be mistaken for being a cozy French restaurant, but it's actually a Belgian restaurant, but one that serves more than just mussels and burgers--although they serve both of those and they're amazing. While they have a great wine list, they also have a great beer list featuring mostly Belgians including 3 taps of fantastic Belgian beer.I'm a huge fan of Belgian food and Belgian beer. My wife and spend our first few weeks dating with "our bar" being a small Belgian pub in Portland. There aren't very many places like that anywhere, but this one takes the whole thing and kicks it up to the next level. It's amazing. Most Belgian restaurants are actually pubs and mostly serve mussels and frites with maybe a burger. Et Voila does that, but also does so much more. The flemish beef stew is probably my favorite thing on the menu, but the mussels burger (actually a patty made up of cooke mussels), regular burger, steamed mussels, warm goat cheese salad, and all the desserts are fantastic. There's one unlisted dessert, which is an assortment of chocolates and cookies that is amazing and I always try to get. There's not much of any one thing, but they're all amazing. The service lives up to being a French-style restaurant with fantastic, attentive, knowledgeable waitstaff. The service goes beyond that though into managing the whole experience. My wife and I came in for an anniversary dinner with our 6-week-old baby and they were smart and nice enough to seat us in a back room where we were away from most of the other diners. The result is that we didn't have to worry so much every time the baby cried just a little and could pick her up and settle her. That's impressive service. More...
