I called to get a same day appointment for cut and all over color. Not only did they get me in that day but within 45 minutes. The stylists were all very friendly and offered me beverages throughout the appointment. Onlei is who did my hair, she was extremely patient with me not knowing exactly what I wanted and it was obvious that she knew very well what she was doing. Steffon has twice been extremely accommodating to me.  The first time I walked into his salon, I just wanted a quick trim, since I had to pick my daughter up within a half hour.  He sat me down and gave me a great cut.  The second time, I called him up on a Saturday night and asked him if he could bleach and color my daughter's hair the next day before she ended up ruining it herself.  He opened an hour early for us and created a whole new look for my daughter.  It was the exact color she was trying to achieve.  She gets compliments almost daily about her hair.  She has told me that this is her best hair look yet.  Thank you Steffon.  We have found our new hairstylist.-Macy :-) More...

Yesterday I went to the Episode Salon & Spa and had my hair cut, dyed, and conditioned by Steffan and he was fantastic.  He was warm and welcoming (even though I was coming last minute), did a great job, cut/trimmed exactly the way I wanted, and gave a very relaxing shampoo and conditioning.  He was also fun to talk to.  I highly recommend this salon and Steffan.  Summer More...

I found this salon through Groupon and I needed to get a trim. And overall I had a great experience! Scheduling was super easy, and I got an appointment for 2 days from the time of my call. This is much appreciated because I have a busy and at times unpredictable schedule, so I liked being able to get in right away.The salon space is clean, well decorated, and cozy. Christy cut my hair and she did an exceptionally good job! I have long wavy hair that I like to keep long out of convenience. And I typically like to get a trim and to refresh my layers. I explained what I wanted to Christy and she executed perfectly! Stylists are usually scissor happy when they see the length of my hair and they cut way more than I like. I've been going to Onlei for over 20 years and followed her with each of her lives through San Francisco and to Episode. She does a great job in taking me as a walk in or by appointment. The haircuts she gives me are consistent through the years and she always checks before she starts just to be sure I prefer the usual. I get compliments on my cut from friends and coworkers. That is actually a big compliment to Onlei. I find her to know what she's doing and to be very skilled and experienced. I paid $37 for the Groupon cut and deep conditioning. The actual service is $90 (as stated on the Groupon page). I tipped $24. That's how much I valued Steffon's service. It was my first time here, and if I were not moving out of The Bay, I would return for touch up services. First: the wash and deep conditioning treatment. I'm sorry for not getting the assistant's name. Anyway, she washed and lightly massaged my scalp. She was gentle and delicate. The entire thing was maybe 10-15 minutes. I took a light nap. It was very relaxing.Second: transition to the chair was easy. I was given some snacks and a water bottle! A homey vibe was the goal I think. It was sweet.Third: the cut! I literally kept my eyes closed during the cut. Steffon was amazing. I saw and felt his competence and confidence as he cut and snipped away at my hair. I showed him photos of, and asked him, for a short, edgy, A Line bob.When he finished, I liked the results, but I wasn't fully satisfied. He explained he kept it conservative so I could determine for myself just how much I actually wanted cut off. I appreciate that method because you can't take back what's already cut off. I asked him to cut shorter for a more edgy, choppy look.When he finished again, I was all smiles! I got what I wanted. Steffon is great. (P.S. As with any salon, there is upselling. My long blonde hair has always been my everything. I had never had my hair colored, ever, and the best I got at a cut was a Supercuts trim every few years. But my waist length hair started thinning out so badly that I decided to finally take the plunge. A friend referred me to Steffon so I called and got an appointment for the very next day! Steffon was amazing. He listened to everything I said, took a tiny bit off the ends, and layered it just the way I wanted without doing too much as to thin my hair out more (despite my desire to have a luxurious set of full layers). I also wanted to lighten the dark blonde at top so opted for partial highlights. For the very first time!! I was a nervous wreck but Steffon did not do me wrong. He listened when i said I was worried that it would be too light. He added just enough color so that it lightened the roots but remained totally natural. I have been meaning to write this review for awhile now. I came in for a haircut in February. I had found a groupon, but called the salon first to see what their availability was as I was wanting to get my hair cut within the next few days. To my surprise, owner said he would match the groupon price AND could get me in the same day. WOW! Talk about good service. Had my hair cut and colored today by Christie. Pictures attached! The experience started positive, and stayed that way. Christie was able to take me, last minute, with a Groupon discount. I got there and waited about 10 minutes before getting started, then we colored my hair, washed it, and did a leave in conditioner for about 15 minutes, then Christie cut, dried and styled my hair. The whole appointment was just under 2 hours, which is the appropriate amount of time. The discounted price was $73, but because I have long hair, there was an additional $30 charge. I expected that because someone else mentioned it in their review. My hair is long, and long hair does require more product, so it was fine. Christie didn't use shearing scissors, which I loved. She listened to what I wanted, and executed. Quick note, everyone should always tip 15-20% of the non-discounted, original amount, if you don't like what you get, politely say something. I've been seeing, Christy, my hairstylist, for a year now. She's a very sweet & kind exceptional professional. I started out using a Groupon to get my hair cut and colored. I've been pleased with Christy and Episode Salon ever since with my hair results, their customer service, clean and polished remodel, comfortable atmosphere and hair rinses. There's a pad inside the sink basin to hold your head up. I've never experienced this anywhere else. It continues to be a pleasure to get my hair done at Episode. I went to Stephan at Episodes four years ago and loved both my hair and the experience. I've now moved to SF and can't express how he makes your hair look amazing, but also makes you feel beautiful. He takes time to listen and then uses his Edward Scissorhands magic to interpret and even improve your vision. I highly recommend this place. This place was such a great surprise they treated me like first class since I got there. The hair washing was so great they really massaged and scratched my scalp. It was a fun, friendly environment they offered us donuts , tea and wine (Yas!). I loved my hair stylist on lei she was so nice and cut my layers beautifully. If you want healthy, colored hair with great service, this is the place to go! I arrived at 3pm and Steffon was so patient and worked with me until 11pm just to get to the hair color that I wanted! I went in with all black hair and told him I wanted a blonde, slightly ashy color. Even though it's hard to go from black to blonde, he was more than happy to do it. Service was great! This is the second timeI goto the salon. After a long search for a master who knows how to cut hair, I finally found someone who understands what I want! During my second visit, I got haircut, one color treatment and partial highlights. The work was amazing, but the next day I realized that the highlights were too light for me and overall my hair blend with my face. I called the salon, explained everything to Steffon and was amazed on how accommodating he was.  He agreed to tone my hair down for free but did inform me that I might loose my highlights. At that point I did not care because I was too light. So I scheduled the appt. Then something happened at work, so I had to reschedule and once again amazing Steffon allowed the changes. After toning my hair down, I felt like trimming my hair a bit more and Steffon did that free of charge also.The quality of the color they use is amazing. So my stylist moved and several stylists later, Christy started to do my roots. Recently I asked her to change the color of my hair and give me a choppy a line. Long bob. I love it!!!! This salon is under-rated, and I still recommend them and even more services. She also uses hard wax so this has become a one stop for my maintenance needs. Also Steffon will go over and beyond to help you. A while back I was leaving for vacation and wanted a Keratin but their salon was closed for a remodel (Much nicer now too!) so he helped to arrange to have Christy come to my house for an Express Keratin. I booked a massage because I had pulled the muscles in my lower back. I was fortunate to get Steffony who spent 90 minutes with me working mostly on my lower back as well as the rest of my body. Great experience. They got to me right away. I was immediately redirected to get my hair shampooed, the attendant was sweet and gave me a well pressured head massage. I am so happy with my hair. It looks fresh and silky. I have very long hair (about mid waste after my cut), and other people ALWAYS cut too much. It takes me a long time to grow my hair so when they chop off 5 to 6 inches i get upset. NOT HERE! they did EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED! Episode Salon is a great place to go. I have been going here since it opened.  Steffon colors, cuts, highlights and styles hair very well. He is very skilled and knows what he is doing. He understands that customer satisfaction is vital, and at the same time, he also shares his honest opinion and even offers some advice.Indeed, this review is long overdue, but I just wanted to say how pleased I was with my keratin, haircut, and  2-color highlights treatment back in August last year. My hair is thick and fizzy. After the keratin treatment, my hair was so soft, smooth and shiny and NO FIZZ. His coloring bang out incredible shades. I used to only ever cut my hair in SF's Richmond or Chinatown district. Steffon highlighted and cut my hair the first time two months ago. I was initially worried the highlights weren't "office-friendly" due to their boldness in the sunlight but instead I was flooded by compliments as he did an outstanding job with the color and style. My second time here was last weekend to fix the length - we went bold and cut my hair above my chin instead. You don't necessarily have to buy every hair product from the store but the two I've used based on Episode's recommendations have given my hair a huge improvement in styling, shine and volume.
