I want to say a quick note... hiring an attorney for a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy would have been the biggest waste of money I can imagine. I had Document Prep. Specialists do the paperwork for $199. I went and handed it in (10 minutes process), the 341 Creditor Meeting was literally 30 seconds long. 8 questions with Yes/No answers. Discharge 60 days later. I contacted John about a month ago and he sent me a workbook via email. I took a very long time filling out the document and then scheduled an appointment with him.
Two days later, I walked through his door and we went over the workbook together, I paid him the $200 in cash, got a receipt, and he said he would call me.
7 days later, I got the OK to come in and review the final document. I went into his office the very same day. The document was perfect so I signed it in addition to some more paperwork. John made another copy for me. We discussed the next steps.
Monday, I went to the US Bankruptcy Court in downtown Phoenix at 8:00 am when the doors opened. At 8:30 am, the bankruptcy suite door opened and I was first in line. The clerk went over my document. She kept one and stamped the other in order to make it a receipt of sorts. She told me what John said I should expect her to say. She told me my court date & time in addition to the fact I should expect a letter in the mail with instructions. I was gone by 9:00 am. Bring a little notebook in order to take notes if necessary.
