If I could give you a review it would be 10 stars! We've only been working together for a short period, but you're polite and prompt and the type of client that every freelancer wishes they could work with!

Q&As

A great website doesn't always need to be flashy and expensive. A great website needs a) to visually portray the image and message of your brand, b) needs to fulfill the needs of your targeted market (i.e. if you're selling a product, your site should be e-commerce ready or if you're having a big event, your site should allow registration or RSVP), and C) it should be easy to navigate and use.

The last part about ease of navigation and use is the most important. If someone visits your site and cannot find what they are looking for within the first 2 minutes, they will leave and go to another site.

A great website doesn't have to be a ton of pages or have animated pieces or a bunch of videos. It just needs to portray your brand's message and image, do what it was intended to do, and be easy to use.

Each client and each project are like snowflakes. Each one is unique and so are their design + marketing needs. The general questions I ask every client are:
1. Could you tell me a little about yourself and your business?
2. Which service(s) are you interested in exploring?
3. Does your brand/company have a solid identity? What's the message your brand/company is trying to convey?
4. Who is your target audience?
5. Do you have a website? Are you happy with your website?
6. What is your end goal for this project?
7. What is your vision for this project? How do you envision it will look?
8. What are the things you MUST have, you WANT to have, and DEFINITELY DON'T WANT to have included in this project?
9. What's your budget for this project?
10. What's the deadline for this project?

From there, once I know which service the client is interested in, and I get a little more information, I will ask another series of questions specific to the type of service that they are interested in. I try to get all the information I need from the client in the beginning, so I don't have to bother them multiple times for information. I know they are very busy as well.

My creative process is as follows:
1. Get as much information from the client as possible. This includes how they envision the look of end result, what they must have, want to have, and definitely don't want to have included, any specific color palettes that they like or want to be used, and I ask them to give me examples of designs that they really like and those they really don't like.
2. I take all of that information and any other influencers like their current brand identity (if someone's brand identity was country western, I wouldn't design something minimalistic or modern) and I just begin making quick drafts of a few different designs.
3. If I'm having trouble deciding which of the drafts will work best, sometimes I'll send the drafts to the client to see which one he/she likes the best, but normally one of them begins to pan out better than the rest.
4. Once I have everything drafted out and wireframed, I begin putting in real content.
5. If it's a graphic design project, I will usually give the client two to three options to choose from. Usually, for things like logos, they will choose one from the options and then we'll tweak that one until it's perfect.

Here is the information I need from the client before I can start work:
1. Brand Message/Identity
2. Must Haves, Want-to-haves, and definitely-don't-want-haves for the project
3. Budget
4. Deadline
5. Signed Contract
6. Deposit

The thing I love most about my job is when I present the final work to the client and they are so excited and happy. I'm a small business owner trying to help other small to medium-sized business owners grow AFFORDABLY without having to spend their free time studying design and marketing themselves. So when a client is very happy and pleasantly surprised with the outcome of my work, that's my favorite part is seeing them so happy.

I was tired of working 80 hours a week for someone else just to collect a paycheck. I was the one doing all the work, yet my employers were cashing in on it and I was getting zero recollection. And in most cases, my employers didn't even let me keep a copy of my work for my portfolio. Plus, I was working on projects that I either didn't agree with, didn't connect with, or didn't truthfully have time for because I was overloaded with too many projects.

That's when I said enough is enough. If I'm going to be working 80 hours a week, I want it to be on projects that I care about and only take on what I can, so that my work doesn't suffer and that each client is happy with my work. I didn't want anyone else making decisions for me or about my work. I was tired of being stifled creatively and being told I wasn't good enough for some things.

I'm not saying every single client is going to absolutely adore me, however, with clients and in life, I treat everyone with respect. I stick to the golden rule of treat people how you want to be treated. I'm also very laid-back and even-tempered when it comes to my personality, yet a pit-bull when it comes to work. I'm professional, knowledgeable, and I'm not trying to become a millionaire from my services, because as a small business owner I know how expensive it can be, so my prices are very affordable. With all of that said, I want my clients to know that I'm not working FOR them, but I'm working WITH them to mutually grow our businesses. I'm usually very willing to go the extra mile for my clients without charging for every little thing. My grandmother was southern, and she raised me with traditional southern values that include honesty, integrity, and most importantly manners, and I make sure that I embody those values with clients and people in general.
