Two companions and I had lunch here today (first visit for all 3 of us) One had the Smashed Meatball Burger & fries. She thought it was only fair . Other companion had Gnocchi Marsala & Golden Beet Salad. She said it was excellent. I had Mussels Red Sauce appetizer and Golden Beet Salad. It was EXCELLENT!! Overall service was good and restaurant was very clean. Will definitely return. More...

The food was very good. Service was great. The only problem was price. You get what you pay for! I would save going on special occasions. My husband didn't like the spaghetti as it was different than he gets at home or Olive Garden. But I enjoyed everything on my plate. It was worth every penny to my taste from appetizer to dessert. But the star of our meal was the bourbon apple crisp ice cream - INSANE!!! It's a mind trick - it's an ice cream but you put it in your mouth and your brain reads apple pie!! I wasn't real impressed with this place. The only thing that I liked was the burrata. I don't know if it's because I'm used to Moroso's but I just wasn't impressed from what the "restaurant" was trying to pull off.

Very nice spot! The decor is updated and modern and while it is a very open concept we had no problems with the noise. The food was overall very good. We shared the aracini which were crispy on the outside and soft inside. They were plated on top of a delicious sauce (wish I had some bread to dip in it). I had the chicken under the brick. It was nice and crispy but a bit over seasoned for me. The mashed potatoes were perfect! Service is attentive and quick. We will be back. I was glad that we made reservations because it was crowded! Come to Di Camplis when your in Waco!It has ample parking and a great dining area. They have local beer on draft, indoor and covered out door dining, and dining at the bar. The restaurant is very well appointed and has really good food. Tonight I had the pizza, which was not as good as Morosos. I guess that's not a fair comparison, but I know the pasta dishes here are wonderful. The beet salad really blew me away. I was not expecting such a great flavor. I think it was the dressing they used which would taste great on a flip flop. The creme brule was good but i know they can do better. Try the tiramasu.Service is always spot on. They have plenty of staff. Although you might think they are lounging about, they are attentive and available at all times. I discovered this restaurant this year and make sure to come back everytime I'm in Waco for work. They update their menus seasonally so there is always something different to try, even if it's just a change in type of pasta noodle used. I highly recommend this restaurant. More...

Loved my first experience here when we sat at the bar. This time we were seated. Our waiter had about 25 people at his station and was not friendly and seemed overwhelmed. We sat for 30 minutes before our drink order was taken and only taken after asking. The service never got any better. You could see other tables looking for his attention. We came here during our visit from Florida to visit family. We will be looking for other places to eat next time. The hostess was dressed like she was doing errands and not dressed for a restaurant such as this. This was on a Saturday. The food helped the bad experience. More...

Pros:Waitstaff was fantastic.Food is pretty darn good. Not 5-star level....but for Texas, say it's 4-star level. And bonus points because all the meal prices are very reasonable. Decent price for quality food!Negatives:I've had creme brûlée probably 50 times in my young life and theirs was - without a doubt - the worst I've ever eaten. The caramelized sugar top was marshmallow flavored. Which might not be bad if it was advertised as a marshmallow flavored creme brûlée. But if advertised as a regular creme brûlée "Rich Vanilla Custard, Caramelized Sugar"....then that is what you should get. We've all had burnt marshmallow before from a campfire - and it can be good. Especially mixed with chocolate and graham crackers. But the burnt marshmallow flavored 100% overpowered the dessert. Also, the actual filling was a bit odd. One half was thick and creamy, the other side was runny. It felt like it was frozen and when they thawed it out, one side thawed at a much different rate. The creme brûlée is one of the main reasons we chose to eat there. So for it to be horrible was quite the disappointment. The second negative was the toasted crostini appetizer. It comes with four. Two were amazing. But two of the pieces were SO hard and crunchy that I lost a tooth just trying to bite down on it. Two were nice and crispy and delicious. But the other two were so hard and crunchy that they were almost impossible to cut even with a knife. We ended up soaking them in the sauce and then eating them towards the end of our meals, as the sauce helped soften them up (which sort of defeats the purpose of a crispy crostini). Even the table beside us commented that it was like biting into a rock.So fantastic staff. Clean restaurant, delightful setting. Food is good, especially considering the reasonable cost. But creme brûlée was inedible, worst I've ever had. And half our appetizer was too hard to eat without endangering all your current dental work. More...

The staff was very attentive. The environment is inviting. Great space to go with friends to chat and have good food. The appetizer of calamari was fresh. It had two types of peppers tossed throughout. It came with two sauces and lemon. The pink sauce is there Pomodoro. The other was a Rémoulade. Both seemed bland for me. The breading needs a kick and the sauces could use some life infused. Some chilis or a sweet pepper drizzle. The gnocchi was built with mushroom, sausage and then surrounded by a crème sauce. It was served with Parmesan on the side as well as garlic knots. The gnocchi was good but the texture last silliness. It was closer to chewy. The sausage had nothing to add to the dish but texture. It's flavors were lost in the crème sauce. Over all great presentation. Needs some excitement to set itself apart. More...

Coming from LA and being a designer, I've been looking for a place like this. It's frustrating when we're trying to find a place to have lunch on a Monday or Tuesday coming from a big city where everything is always open, so it's literally exciting to see that this place is only closed on Sundays. For the atmosphere: So we had lunch there on a Tuesday, right after they opened, and there were already tables sat, which is a good sign. There were also a good number of employees on the floor which is another good sign. I'm so sick of getting horrible server anywhere and everywhere we go, (that's not just restaurants), but that's a whole other story. They have a full bar, which was a nice surprise; they even had good music playing at a good volume. They also have a lot of things going on during the week. I think everyday of the week they have something like happy hour, kids night, live music, lady's' night etc. The floor plan and décor are great. Smart choices and design. As a designer I could go on about that but I'll spare you. The service was also great. As a person who worked in food service for 20 years I know good service and how a restaurant runs, and they're doing it right. Our server Jenna was very attentive and inviting. Then there's the food. Good size menu. They have a lot of Italian staples. We had the tortellini and linguine and clams and they were fabulous. You could tell before you took a bite because of the aroma. And then as soon as I put it in my mouth, it was confirmed that it was delicious. A good amount of spice in both dishes. We both had the smaller portion and it was more than enough. We also shared the small Caesar salad which was also very good, (and I'm extremely picky about Caesar salad). We got a little extra dressing and parmesan on the side and just the quality of the parmesan was so comforting to me. The only thing I would suggest is that they serve a crostini and spoon with the linguini so I could sop up the delicious white wine sauce and spin my pasta onto my fork. I was really happy and so satisfied at the end of our experience there. It is now our favorite restaurant in Waco, (even though they're technically in Woodway)! More...

You know the food is good when you are writing the review and you can still taste the beautiful delicacies and flavors that is from Di Campli's Italian Ristorante, just through looking at the photos and writing out its descriptions. At least... that's the case for me. Whether for graduation, date night, or fancy night out with some gal pals, or even a casual dine in, this is the place to go! Atmosphere is very lively around evening dinner time, the ambience is really wonderful, it really gives you a fine dining feel whether you're in your best dress or just in shorts and a T-shirt. My personal favorite drink: Blue-Rose SpritzerI don't drink often, but when I do, my preference is something that tastes sweet and where you don't taste a lot of the alcohol. This, is the drink you're looking for if your palette matches mine! Subtle blueberry hint, Rosemary was very fresh and gave the drinking extra depth of flavor you didn't even know it was missing. It's also really beautiful, have you seen the pictures? It was delicious, nothing too heavy, I didn't feel tipsy after finishing. As you can see, the portion sizes are pretty big dinning in! At least, if you get the full-size instead of half, all of my photos are full-sized dishes. I personally preferred sitting outside rather than inside, like I said, it is quite lively in the evening in the inside, I really enjoyed sitting outside even though it is a hot summer day, they have fans outside and you have an easier time hearing what the person from across from you has to say, feels a bit more intimate :) but could also say the same with the lighting in the inside. Service is very professional and very great! Love the waiter and waitresses, host was great too. Everyone is very kind, and you can tell they really do want to be there!Appetizer: Caprese- we asked the waitress what their favorite appetizer was, and she did not disappoint. The herbs and tomatoes, pesto, everything was super fresh and beautifully paired with this amazing mozzarella and very nice and toasty warm bread. It felt really comforting to eat and the flavors all meshed together beautifully. Light, refreshing, and warming. Perfect! Arugula Salad- I am typically not a huge fan of arugula, so my opinion on this dish, mind you that it comes with a piece of shit and feeling that I'm not a huge fan of the vegetable. However, it was still pretty good. It was very refreshing, especially with the grapefruit, and the cheese. Of course with arugula, you have a bit more bitter type of vegetable, but overall, not bad, just not my personal first choice. Pizza: Shrimp- I am a huge fan of seafood, like huge. I really enjoyed this pizza, the flavors were super great, I usually don't order pizzas when I go to restaurants, especially one like this one, but I thought why not give it a shot, it looked very delicious from a far from the tables I was talking while I was walking to my own. I would hands-down order this again, for those who are hesitant of the shrimp, it was very fresh and cooked very well and through, nice and buttery, flavorful dough. Everything about those was delicious. It didn't taste like you're actually eating the sea, so for those who are not a big as a fan of shrimp, I feel like you would still like this one!Pasta:Rigatoni White Wine Bolognese- wow. Just wow. Anyway, it reminded me slightly of a deconstructed shepherds pie, and a very good way though. It was super delicious, you don't taste much of the white wine, just a hint. It was beautiful, the pasta in my opinion was just a little bit over done when I had this dish, but it still made me come back for more. I would highly highly recommend this. The food here was so great that after the first time I came here, I made reservations for the week after to come back.Appetizer: Beef Carpaccio- if you're feeling a little adventurous, go for it! Rich umami flavor, it looked and tasted very fresh, and the greens to top it off tied it all together very well. It may look intimidating to some, yes it is raw beef, but it is definitely worth a try. I'd recommend having a little bit of each element of the dish in one bite, I thought the saltiness of the capers really brought it all together well. Pizza: Potato and Panchetta- It was a bit more heavy than the shrimp one in comparison, naturally with the extra added carbs of the potato, however they did an excellent job with mashing all the flavors together. I didn't feel like it was going to explode or that there was a rock sitting in my stomach afterwards, I would highly recommend, pancetta was a great partner to the potato.Pasta: Gnocchi- it didn't feel super heavy, overall this was just really delicious, I don't know if I have any other words to describe it but that it was very great and you can't go wrong with the gnocchi here.
