This place is not a disappointment!!! The food is delicious and the service is amazing!! The turkey melt was amazing. French roll was toasted to perfection and the combination of the onion, turkey, melted cheese and everything else in the sandwich was delightful. I must say go check this place out!!! More...

I love this little diner. I am from San Diego but lived  San Luis Obispo for seven months while working at the college. This place was like going home for dinner. Can't wait to come back!

I've driven past this place for years and have always wanted to try it. So happy we had the chance to enjoy brunch today. Very kid friendly . They had a small basket of toys for a little boy which was perfect to keep him entertained. The decor is lovely and very vintage. We sat at booth but I saw they do have outdoor seating the staff was attentive and friendly. I real enjoyed the Linguica & Eggs. My husband ordered the sweet potato pulled pork hash. He loved it. Will definitely be coming back soon! More...

The moment we entered the cafe, owners were very welcoming. They even gave basket of toys to my child to play. The owner even got her daughter to say hello to my son, adding more warmth and welcome. Me and my husband loved the specials: pumpkin pecan pancakes, and French toast with cranberry sauce. The food was to die for. Please do try their specials. More...

A really homy spot for good breakfast. The day we came it was pouring but we only had to wait about 10 mins. It is a small place so limited seating but they are worth the wait. We order the veggies omelet with potatoes, cheese omelet, french toast and the yogurt and granola bowl, the omelletes were 10/10. The french toast was also 8/10 whereas the yogurt and granola bowl was my least favourite. First of all it was presented with fruit in yhr sloppiest manner. It looked like the granola, yogurt and fruit was just thrown on the plate but it tasted ok. Not the best ive had. More...

It's an adorable cute little 50s breakfast dinner.  This is the second  time we come to San Luis Obispo and by coincidence we end up at the same place for breakfast! We had the stuffed French toast and traditional egg & beacon. This time we had the egg & linguica we HIGHLY recommend the linguica (Portuguese sausage)!  Everything was yummy  but if decide to order the ham & cheese omelette remember that it comes with a lot of cheese .  Prices are budget friendly and the customer service is great. This is my favorite restaurant in SLO, has a retro and vintage vibe that make you feel like home. The staff is completely friendly, and if you have kids they will give you toys and gold fish crackers. The food was delicious. Del Monte Cafe is a rustic little place just outside of the downtown.  It's right next to the train station so there is ample parking. The food and service were great but we went on a busy weekend and it took 30 minutes to get our breakfast.  It came hot and was delicious. I don't think this is the typical wait time for food, however, it was our first time having breakfast there.  The food was excellent and there motto is 'fresh made to order' so I am not going to let a little time deter us from eating there again. Loved this little place! We stumbled upon this gem of a breakfast spot after we were unable to get parking then outdoor seating downtown. And I'm sure glad we wound up here. There was a patio with umbrellas on the parking lot side. It was doggie friendly. Yay, we didn't have to leave our little schnauzer in the car. The girl who waited on us was super nice. Very friendly. She was telling us about the event she was going to attend in Avila that evening. Anyway, our breakfast experience...I ordered the ham and egg scramble.  It's the best scramble I've ever tasted! Great job, DMC! The hubby had a short stack and couldn't finish those two pancakes. He had coffee to drink and thought it was bitter. I had OJ and it was very tasty...fresh tasting and sweet. When in SLO I would definitely have this same breakfast again. More...

AMBIANCE - 5 STARSThis is a super-historic property located in the Historic Railroad District, and the interior decor does it justice--with archival photos on the walls and really cute retro booths to sit in and a counter in the back. SERVICE - 4 STARSFriendly, welcoming, accommodating. Kept my Diet Coke refilled which is a MUST for me.FOOD - 3 STARSI ran in for a quick lunch, so I kept my order simple with a BLT and fries and a Diet Coke. The fries were brown and looked overcooked... but were mushy. Not my thing. Maybe a green salad next time.I asked for my BLT on sourdough. What came out was more like white bread (probably just a mass-produced version of sourdough but not, like, real sourdough) and although it had been apparently toasted, it was still white--no browned toasty spots. The bread was crunchy but more like stale crunchy, as though it had been toasted too long on a low setting instead of just firing it up quick. In future, I would change my bread selection and ask them to make it dark.I heard another table look at their sandwich and ask if it had been toasted and poke at it. The waitress offered to re-toast it but the patron declined (and I didn't bother saying anything because I don't think toasting it again in the same manner would've fixed it).The bacon was OK but nothing special. Not very crispy and lukewarm. The L and the T on the BLT were fresh, as was the avocado that I asked to add. I would definitely go back, especially for the atmosphere and when I've got more time, but maybe for breakfast/brunch to try their eggy dishes. More...

Super cute Cafe. Feels like you're stepping back in time to a quaint little Cafe. The decor is adorable and the booths are quite comfortable. Fresh flowers at every table are a very nice touch. The iced tea is really delicious as is their lunch choices. I had the Cobb salad which was massive and chock full of delicious bits of Bleu cheese crumbles, thick smoky bacon, turkey, Swiss cheese, hard boiled egg, avocado and topped off with a super delicious house made vinaigrette dressing. Boyfriend had a Del burger which he asked them to make into a double Del burger and it was quite impressive. Cooked to perfection and was topped off with lots of delicious toppings including avocado, tomato, lettuce, onion, cheese and dressing. Food was excellent. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area! Service was warm and friendly as well. More...

This place is doing everything right. If you want some delicious brunch while feeling incredibly comfortable, this is where you need to be. It's definitely old-fashioned and the staff is very friendly and inviting. Waiting area is very limited so it can make for an uncomfortable wait -- however the quality of the food totally makes up for it! I ordered two eggs over medium with potatoes and linguisa, and I substituted toast with gravy and biscuits, which I did not regret at all! Although it was a bit extra, the gravy and biscuits were my favorite part of my meal! The biscuit was so fluffy, perfectly crumbly, and just melted in your mouth! The gravy was incredibly delicious as well. Portions are generous, so beware! I was only able to eat 75% percent of my plate. They serve mimosas. Parking seems rather limited and seating too! Seating outside is great because there's a lot of shade and no wind, making it a pleasant experience to enjoy their awesome food. The inside is a bit too crammed for me, but if you're into old-fashioned seating and that vibe in general, it won't disappoint!Next time I'm in the area, I will be back! More...
