Q&As

We provide bookkeeping, accounting, tax preparation and consulting services.

A great accountant can help you in three areas.

The first--and most boring--is compliance: keeping the records you have to keep to complete tax forms and satisfy government requirements. A great accountant helps you by making sure you're keeping the right records for your business.

Second, a great accountant helps you interpret your financial information. This means pointing out things that look out of place, helping you understand what they mean, and explaining the effect of new tax laws and requirements.

Finally, a great accountant helps you make more and keep more. This covers a lot of ground. Things like making sure your insurance coverage is accurate, discussing business continuity (what happens in the event of a disaster), suggesting techniques that will increase the value of your business if you sell it, helping you use credit well, and much, much more.

Relationships. There is a technical component of accounting: making sure you tick all the boxes and put the numbers in the right places. There's a part of every CPA that likes that or they wouldn't be a CPA. But what makes work really inspiring is seeing the light bulb come on when a business understands how they can create recurring revenue, pass more to their children or grandchildren, or have more time to work on the things they want to do by automating a simple task. That's the relationship part of it: helping businesses meet their owner's goals.

I enjoyed public accounting, but found it too focused on the nitty-gritty of producing tax returns and audit reports. I wanted to help businesses grow by showing them how to use financial concepts and technology to streamline operations and recordkeeping.

Simply put, we have more experience with the things that make a difference in small and mid-sized businesses. We understand operations: taking orders, charging credit cards, keeping inventory and paying employees. We've been involved in the day-to-day operations and bookkeeping of clients for 30+ years. If you're looking for options to collect your A/R more quickly, we can help. If you want to pay hourly employees by direct deposit, but they don't have bank accounts, we can provide options. It's this kind of nitty-gritty operational knowledge PLUS our technical ability that makes us a great choice. We also have expertise in eCommerce, so we understand your Shopify, Amazon, PayPal, and eBay needs and concerns.

We have extensive capability to provide services remotely, including the ability to connect remotely so we can walk through accounting issues with you. We also have video conferencing that allows us to meet from anywhere. We're Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisors, and experts in Sage and Microsoft software as well.

If our clients wish, we can offer all services contact-free and remote.
