Don't let the location fool you. The place screams 80's when you walk in. It needs a facelift. But, don't let that detract from an otherwise great dining experience. I had the delmonico cooked medium rare and the baked potato. Both were cooked to perfection. It is one of the best ribeyes I have had in recent memory. The baked potato was huge! My husband and I took a day trip to Syracuse on a whim. No destination in mind when a friend suggested Daniella's. Not knowing the area we found the location and settled in to the cozy hotel for the night. We went to dinner that evening and we were amazed at the hospitality as well as fantastic food. I visited this time during the Great N.Y State Fair. Sat at the bar, as Kim (Syracuse's #1 dinner diva) only works Fridays. I was able to shake Charlie's hand and wink for a brief moment while he cradled a phone, clearly preoccupied. After all, the Daniella's proprietor is possibly the hardest working man in Syracuse hospitality. I digress. The food again was worth a follow up review. Calamari steak appetizer? Please. Surprisingly light feeling for a fried appetizer, in a glaze with just the correct amount of lemon. Scallops in a clarified butter and garlic reduction were a hit, selling out completely after my order. Now, let us talk about the signature greens. Intended as an appetizer or entree side, but so worth getting on a plane and flying into Hancock for. My primary selection this visit was the 8oz filet. Charred and pink (Pittsburgh). It was delectable perfection. The meat itself is not short of the quality you would expect from the perfectionists in that wonderful kitchen. 100% lean and spot on with the char-to-pink ratio. Try the gorganzola topping in a small side ramekin for dipping. It will be a treat. Honorable mention to the keeper of spirits, Jeff.
