Great music school. Todd and Taylor are awesome!

Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts (DAMPA) is a music school for children and adults who wish to learn or improve their instrumental and/or vocal abilities. The program is run by Todd Griffith, an accomplished musician himself with a degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. In addition to being a talented drummer, Todd is an amazing administrator who possesses that unique combination of creativity, business acumen and people skills. The facility itself is modern and cool with wood accents and a super positive vibe. There's a waiting area with comfy couches and chairs and free WiFi while you wait. There's no games here. DAMPA offers fair and honest pricing and an incredibly high level of quality instruction. Teachers are positive and inspiring and DAMPA offers a ladder system of achievement that provides kids with rewards for achieving their goals. If you live anywhere from Preston Hollow to Highland Park or anywhere in between, you really need to get your kid (or yourself) to DAMPA for music lessons! More...

All staff, instructors and front desk associates at the Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts are SO nice, friendly, upbeat and happy! The environment is fresh, fun, stylish, positive and great energy. My four year old son really connects with his instructor Lexie! My son is learning so much and growing musically. He really enjoys the music lessons. I like how they introduce a variety of instruments, including singing during the classes. I am also like how my son's instructor gives feedback after each lesson. We are beyond pleased. We love this place! More...

My daughter started school here this year and she loves it. She attends the conservatory program which is online academic classes from 9-12 and performing arts classes from 12-4. Anyone who is interested in giving their child a more thorough, well-rounded education that differs greatly from “traditional” schooling should seriously consider talking to one of the many great people who work at DAMPA :) More...

I have really enjoyed our time at DAMPA. We have been there almost a year now. The atmosphere is very professional and positive. The studio itself is visually stunning. My daughter says she feels like she is in some cool place in NYC. She takes piano with Paul, who is so patient and kind and a very solid instructor.  I can see my daughter's growth. It is really unbelievable how much she has improved in this year. Her confidence is growing and she has more control. She can download sheet music off the internet and play it now with confidence. I like that he moves quickly through songs, so your kids won't get bored. Once he feels they have an understanding of the song and are able to get through the material without mistakes he moves them on. He is also a singing teacher and sometimes they work on songs that she can sing along to. He understands what motivates each student. We take voice with the fabulous Sarah. Sarah teaches classical voice. She is an incredible talent and such a good teacher. My daughter is really learning a lot with her. She is learning how to read music while improving her voice. Sarah is also a very good piano player. She picks song each week for my daughter to work on that she feels will challenge her. My daughter loves the music she chooses, everything from Gwen Stefani to Edith Piaf. Sarah plays the sheet music and the student reads along and sings. In other studios we have been to they had not worked on sight reading as you sing. Sarah has a great personality and is kind of magic, in the sense she is able to get the kids to work hard and respect their time with her but still make it fun. We both adore Sarah and I am so grateful that my daughter gets to study with such an exceptional vocalist. I am so glad we moved to DAMPA. I feel my daughter is a well rounded education in music. All the teachers are of the highest caliber and the "real deal". They are professionals that are also good teachers. The vibe at DAMPA is always positive and upbeat. It is a fun place to be. We have been to other music studios around Dallas and they really don't compare to DAMPA. I haven't seen the caliber of teachers at other studios. DAMPA also offers so many avenues for your child to explore. They have recitals, and open mic nights, musicals etc for your child to engage in.  The staff is very friendly and professional. The studio is very organized and everyone is very on top of it. This is the only studio you should consider for your child's musical education. I have done the foot work and I promise you this is the best. More...

This is an amazing school. All the instructors are of the highest caliber. My daughter takes piano and voice at DAMPA. She has been there a year and has improved beyond anything I could ever imagine. She is learning to read music and even compose a bit. Sarah, is her voice teacher, and she is such an amazing talent. She has really helped my daughter grow in confidence with her range. She is also very good at not only teaching voice but teaching the kids how to be an artist. She gives my daughter songs that compliment her old soul. Sarah, is the ultimate professional and truly loves her craft. That passion for music fuels the kids I believe. My daughter has so much respect for her and works hard, in between lessons, because she feels that is what is expected with Sarah. I love it. Paul, her piano teacher is also fabulous. He is a natural teacher. You can tell that he really loves what he does and has a real connection with the kids. He has a very impressive background. Many of his students have ended up on the "Voice". Paul, is a unique piano and voice teacher because he likes to move along at a bit of a faster pace, so the kids don't get bored by repeating the same songs. My daughter has advanced at an incredible rate. She can now download the sheet music of any song off the internet and play it. She is even composing her own songs now on the piano. I can't recommend this school enough. The staff is all really kind and encouraging and really on top of it. They have a lot of activities like Open Mic Nights, musicals and recitals through out the year. So your child will have a lot of opportunities to perform if they want that. More...
