We called John to cater our mother's memorial Celebration of Life.  We wanted finger type foods that people could eat while walking around and not have to carry a plate or cutlery.  John created a wonderful menu, all fresh and made on site, and the guests just adored it all!  If there is such a thing as a "hit" at a memorial celebration, it was surely the catering.  My family was able to mingle and visit with guests during this emotional day, without having to worry a bit about food, mess, clean up, or making sure the guests were attended to.  We would hire CK Catering again and again and again and cannot thank them enough for their positive attitudes, gracious serving, and delicious food.  A true God-send.  Thank you, CK Catering (and especially John, the owner) for the care he took in making this a memorable day for all. John and Tammy were great to work with. I had a graduation party for my daughter with 25 guests. When I inquired about his services he called back right away, which was great because he was on vacation at the time. John came up with a fabulous menu and quote that was very reasonable. He met with me at my home to see the layout since I was setting up dinner in our outside living area by the pool. They did about 95% of the cooking in the garage, as not to be intrusive of the party and only had to use my oven. We started with passed appetizers of chicken and waffles, shrimp with garlic sauce and Thai spicy meatballs. Everyone loved the appetizers, even the kids. Dinner was Ceasar salad, petite filet mignon, sea bass filet with macadamia nut butter, roasted garlic red potatoes, five cheese Mac & Cheese, grilled asparagus and baguettes and butter. All the food was delicious and John was very personable and easy to work with. Tammy and Dennis served in the dining room and John even cut and served the cake which I had purchased elsewhere. CK recently catered my wedding at a private residence for around 60 people. Overall, the experience was amazing! The staff arrived early and was fully prepared for our guests. The night started with a beautifully crafted meat, fruit and cheese display along with bruschetta and spicy thai meatballs. We then moved to dinner; where he served a Mixed Green Salad, Slow Roasted Dry Rubbed Tri-Tip with a Jack Daniel's Demi Glace, Grilled Garlic & Herb Chicken Breast, Roasted Jalapeno & Bacon Five-Cheese Macaroni & Cheese, Garlic Roasted Potatoes, Green Beans with Grape Tomatoes & Grilled Onions and Maple Bacon Wrapped Large Shrimp. We had John cater for our babies 1st birthday party. And he was phenomenal! We had some pre-ordered food; but needless to say no one touched that food. Everyone was just focused on John's food! There are not enough words to describe how grateful my husband and I are for having chosen John as our caterer for our wedding. He and his staff went above and beyond what we were expecting. John and Tammy were responsive to emails and last minute changes and didn't get frustrated with us for asking the same questions over and over again because I kept forgetting what their answers were.And the food. Oh my goodness. My family, being oriental, are nothing short of blunt. They can dole out criticisms faster than anyone I know and even they had to admit the food John prepared was DELICIOUS. If the rating was 10 ++ John and Tammy would certainly deserve it! We and our friends are real "foodies" always hosting dinner parties with "above the bar" taste. For the first time I decided to have all take a break and come to our home and be served. Almost 50 guests for my husband birthday enjoyed the menu and service with John and company. Totally wow! Our outside kitchen he set up including bringing a fryer for the chicken waffles. The salmon with honey butter was cooked to perfection, chicken with olives and a marinara sauce we are still working to figure out all the seasoning, Thai meatballs, dates bacon wrapped, asparagus, roasted Brussels sprouts and Yes flambé banana foster! Ok...where do I start?  I recently hired John and his team for a wedding brunch that we put on, last minute.  Not only did he come through in a pinch, he was fair, honest and communicated the menu options quickly.  The guy works hard and enjoys what he does for a living and it shows.For our brunch, John and his daughter showed up, set up, and cooked the best breakfast for our 25-30 guests.  They were on time, engaging with the guests and cleaned up quickly.  They even stayed an extra 30 minutes! We ordered breakfast for a board meeting,  yet not just any breakfast.A few on our board follow the "Jain" practice when it comes to food restrictions.  The Jain veggie diet is one of the most strict forms of religiously-motivated diet regulations. basically, nothing with a root.  No onions, garlic, eggs, gelatin. The food cannot even be placed next to anything that differs from this type of eating. No fruit can be next to bacon, so on and so on. The religion is all about non-violence (when it comes to people, animals, plants) all about peace "in the short and long of it".So this can be a challenge to say the least.  In cooperating this type of catering, can be difficult.  Yet, what a surprise when the breakfast showed up, with a CA style breakfast,  scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes.  And two Quiches made with Tofu and a beautiful fruit platter, honestly you wouldn't even be able to tell they weren't made with eggs.  I even had several people that are veggie only eaters, try the quiche and they were so impressed!!! I actually tried it, and I am a meat and potatoes kind of gal, and it was simply amazing! Not only did it taste wonderful, I can tell that some serious research went into making this breakfast! Can't recommend John and his catering company enough! We have an annual dinner party that we usually do the prep and cooking for 40-50 people. This year I decided to outsource it to CK Catering and I couldn't have been happier with my decision. I've never hired a catering company so I wasn't sure how it would play out.The food was excellent! The guests loved all the dishes (bacon wrapped dates were a fan favorite). The service was just as good if not better. They know exactly what to do and how to do it. It was the least stressed I've ever been and with some of the best food. My experience with John, the owner of CK catering, was nothing less than amazing! I recently hired John to cater my wedding at Newport Dunes Resort, and I was extremely satisfied with his service, product and staff. John was more than willing to work within my budget, he quickly and attentively built my requested menu and happily accepted any changes I requested, or mostly my father requested! We initially met for a tasting in Costa Mesa near the beach, which was really nice! The food was excellent and we knew we had to hire him! He was by far the best vendor at my wedding! Everyone raved about the food and I must say I was so thankful that I did not have to worry about his services that day. His staff was well presented, very polite, and they jumped up and helped when we had some seating issues and needed another table added at the last minute. I called CK at the last minute (2 days before) for my sons 1st birthday party. John called me and asked what I was looking to do. I gave him a price point and needed ideas on what we wanted. He quickly said everything was do-able, gave me a proposal and made everything happen so easy. He came and conquered. What a great experience I just had with John and the rest of the CK Catering crew.  I had a death in the family, and was put in charge of the reception after the memorial service.  I don't live in the area, so I went to Yelp for some guidance.  That's when I found CK.  The reviews were strong, so I decided to give John a call.  Dealing with him was fast, easy and non pretentious.  I contacted him on a Friday for a Wednesday event and felt comfortable and confident with my decision the entire time.  This was just from communicating with him.  Now for the event. The CK Catering team arrived early and started setting up without my having to be there.  Awesome!  The display was incredible, as was the service, but the flavors were even better.  It was worth every penny. John was a pleasure to work with! I contacted him regarding catering my sister's Baby Shower. Once I provided him with the number of guests, food items I was interested in, and budget, he didn't fail to follow up and provide a detailed menu and price. He modified it a few times to better suit our wishes. John and his catering team arrived on-site and on-time the day of the event and started preparing the starters. They were fresh and flavorful. I was busy hosting and talking with our 35-40 guests; I had no idea that John and his team had quietly set up his grill and equipment and got busy right away. Food was flowing in no time. He is professional and prompt, not to mention his food and presentation is great! His Chicken and Waffles were a hit and his shrimp skewers were tender and tasty. We hired CK Catering for our daughter's wedding last weekend.We met John and his wife through our good friends which they were highly recommended to us. They took the time to come to our house for the tasting and as soon as we tasted the food we were ready to sign the contract - it was SO DELICIOUS!  They were able to work with our budget and help us with the menu that would accommodate all of our guests some were vegetarians and others meat eaters!  John was easily accessible by email, phone and in person!Before the reception began the staff filled all the water glasses with ice water and the carafes that were on each table as well, they setup their stations & were ready to go in a timely manner!For the cocktail hour we ordered the Mini Meatball Sliders and Capri Salad - we really appreciated that the staff walked around to each guest to offer the appetizers. The meal was served as a buffet style dinner which consisted of Caesar Salad with Fresh Homemade Croutons that were SO GOOD, we had two pasta dishes one was Fusilli Tri Colored Pasta Alfredo with Grilled Chicken and the other for our vegetarian guests was a YUMMY Penne Pasta with Mushrooms, Onions & Peppers in a Creamy Marinara Sauce to top that off he had three side dishes, Meatballs, Parmesan Green Beans and Garlic Bread!  When it was time to cut the cake John & his staff were there to handle that as well!CK Catering went above and beyond our expectations! John and his staff were friendly and professional, providing quality service and delicious food!  We spoke with many guests who raved about the food and said it was some of the best wedding food they had ever eaten!  He and his team were so efficient they had cleared all the dirty dishes from each table and rinsed them off. I hired CK for my daughter's graduation party, and it was a huge success! There were a lot of people coming late, so I requested they start 30 min later, and John and Tammy were ok with it. They were prompt, courteous, and everyone loved the tri tip and mac and cheese. John worked with us in numerous email exchanges to get us what we wanted as well as stay within our budget. Even after the event, any food that was left over was nicely wrapped in metal food trays and clearly labeled with what was inside. During the event Tammy overheard some family members were arriving late, so she asked if she needed to put food aside for them before people started coming around for second helpings.John offered a great variety of dishes, from pasta salad, to strawberry salad, potato salad, baked beans, tri tip, bbq ribs, grilled chicken breasts, and garlic toast. CK catering provided catered services in a recent camp out/horse trail ride I just attended with a group of over 50 ladies at Vail Lake in Temecula. There was a catered meal 3x a day for four days and lots of variety. My favorite was the chicken tacos, rice and beans (went back for seconds!). Everything was fresh and delicious. It was great having the CK team there with us the whole weekend. They got along with us great and fit right in. John's humor is great!!  I'm sure they'll be hired back for future events. We had our wedding on July 12, 2014. Working with John and his Team from CK catering has been awesome. My definition of awesome comes from how easy it has been, quality of food, the professionalism from John on our multiple meetings, and emails, and the overall value of our choice. We met with John exactly one year before our day. John was catering another wedding that day and had brought along some extras for me to try. I knew from the moment he handed me a plate with a pulled pork sandwhich, bbq tri tip, macaroni and cheese, roasted potatoes, and some mixed grilled veggies, that I was sold. The quality of the food was amazing, and on top of that he grills everything on site. What can I say about CK catering other than AMAZING! I hired John and his wonderful crew to cater our wedding after the fantastic service and downright delicious food we received at the tasting. John went out of his way to make sure my mom could be a part of the tasting even when it was inconvenient and way out of the way for him. Throughout the whole process of picking the food and walking through the venue with him, I never once stressed about the food and if it would taste good/look good. On our wedding day, John and his crew blew our minds with the delicious food and wonderful presentation. We just used CK Catering for a family event this past Saturday. It was my parents' 70th wedding anniversary. We were really happy with our choice of Tammy and John to do the catering for our party of about 30 people. They came to my parents' home ahead of time to get the "lay of the land", helped with food choices and were very flexible when we wanted to make changes in the menu. They were on time and worked diligently to set up the tables with decorations that we did not expect. Their presentation of the appetizers was beautiful AND really tasty. We had many compliments on the food and the staff served and cleaned up continuously but unobtrusively throughout the party.
