My wife and I used Kaycie and Critic's Choice for our wedding in September and she was absolutely amazing. The food was delicious (we did 3 passed hors d'oeuvres and a Tri-Tip or Salmon for the main course). But more importantly, Kaycie was a pleasure to work with. She was a problem-solver. She helped with our center pieces, she helped us book a furniture rentals company for our venue, and she was instrumental in organizing the layout as well as executing on the day of the wedding. Absolutely the best experience I've had. They took care of us like we were family. The professional level of their service felt Celebrity status. Designs that blew my mind. Food that tasted like a five star restaurant. Even though I postponed my wedding twice. They were able to move things around and made things transition smoothly. Excellent service for corporate events.A long overdue review for Lorraine Rice and her team at Critic's Choice. We have used them now for three corporate events in the past two years for approximately 300-350 people at each event. They have provided us excellent service, wonderful food and beautiful decor!  Our employees are not shy about giving feedback, both positive and negative, and Critic's Choice received rave reviews on their food and presentation.  When I first reached out to find an area caterer, Lorraine was one of two who bothered to respond and the ONLY one willing to work with our budget.  In my experience, when you say corporate event, caterers tend to think unlimited budget.  Lorraine worked with us and had great suggestions on how to maximize the food options and keep the budget under control. She communicates well via phone and email and doesn't mind multiple questions. The first time we used them, we expected great food but we didn't realize they would decorate the food tables so festively and we were very impressed.  The staff are all friendly and accommodating.  We've used them for two holiday events and one summer event, all different type of menus and locations.  The appetizers, entrees and desserts have always been delicious and plentiful. The spaces we had to work with were challenging but Lorraine and her team were creative with the space planning. Where to being with critics choice, I've had the pleasure of seeing their hard work in action as a guest at one of my friends weddings and was floored by their attention to detail. Kaycie and her team make sure every aspect of wedding details are covered leaving the bride and groom speechless and at ease on what can be a stressful day. Kaycie was even kind enough to give me a few tips and tricks in planning my own wedding since I now live out of state and wasn't able to use their services. The wedding I worked had the most incredible food and table settings it was something like a dream. The creativity and willingness to make the dreams come true for two people in love on their special day was amazing to watch in person. My husband and I just had the great pleasure of having Critic's Choice as our caterer and Kaycie as our reception coordinator for our wedding this past weekend (8/3/19). Critic's Choice was one of the preferred caterers for our venue (Malibu West Beach Club) but stood out from the pack for us immediately for the reasonableness of their pricing in terms of what they delivered. Then they blew us away from the very first (complimentary!) tasting. Kaycie had so many ideas for our decor and the food was FANTASTIC. She also threw in several complimentary booking bonuses for us! Once we booked, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that Critic's Choice has great relationships with several other industry professionals (DJ, florist, bakery), which made the rest of our initial wedding planning a breeze. Throughout the planning process, Kaycie was extremely organized and on top of things. I'm an anxious over-planner type, and she was always quick with a response to my questions. Oftentimes I was asking about something she'd already taken care of! Then the day of, she could not have been more helpful in ensuring our reception went smoothly. Kaycie adapted on the fly from our original plans and delivered my husband and me cocktails and appetizers to the bridal suite during cocktail hour so we could have a moment of peace alone, she delivered us our drinks and dinner so we didn't have to leave the sweetheart table, and she helped us readjust the timeline when I had a bustle emergency to make sure all our events got done by the time our first shuttle had to leave (PSA: don't try jumping photos in a giant poofy dress that's being held together by a couple of tiny hooks). And the food itself, from the quesadilla appetizers to the taco bar to the mini pizza late night snack, was amazing--we got lots of compliments! I highly recommend Critic's Choice Catering and David Johnson as your caterer. David and the company was the caterer for my wedding did an amazing job. He is very nice to work with and has many years of experience catering weddings so he is full of great advice on how to work within a certain budget. He worked with our budget and venue to create a delicious menu for our wedding to meet our wedding dreams. He also gave us a complimentary tasting and provided beach themed decoration for our display table. He was great at responding to questions and emails and was a big part of planning our wedding for the entire year. This review is long overdue! I worked with Kaycie and Critic's Choice for our wedding at Malibu West Beach Club on 10/5/18. For our venue, everything had to be brought in. Critic's Choice was on our preferred vendor list from the venue and is a one-stop shop. We went with the package that included cocktail hour apps, dinner, dessert, centerpieces, linens, silverware, coffee, pre-ceremony refreshments. Basically, anything you can think of, and if it isn't included, you can add it (like our late-night sliders.)Kaycie did an awesome job and honestly, I should have put more faith in her! I am very Type A, so I needed to like confirm, double-check, and ask a thousand questions to make sure everything was on track. However, in retrospect, I really didn't need to do any of that because Kaycie had it handled. There were a few mishaps on the day, just a couple things in the timeline that were overlooked (and overall, slightly too long), but I don't blame Kaycie for that. It's a long day with lots of details, so some things are inevitable. Once we brought it to her attention she adjusted and everything was good. The food was amazing (although, in typical bride fashion, I barely ate the day of because of my nerves) but I got to enjoy everything at the tasting and they were very accommodating in terms of dietary restrictions and allergies. We hired Critic's Choice to cater my daughter's high school graduation party and we couldn't be more happy with the results. It's true if you haven't catered a party in years like us there's some sticker shock at how pricey it is these days. But Lorraine at Critic's Choice helped us create a fabulous meal with many special extras that also took our budget into consideration. It was delicious from appetizer to salad to carving table to dessert. And we took home every bite that wasn't eaten! At the event Lorraine and her staff were on it, providing prompt efficient service from set up, to serving, to clean up. My daughter was graduating college and I wanted to be sure to have a nice celebration for her. Initially, we were going to have her dinner at a restaurant, but because the guest list continued to grow, we decided to have her celebration at home. My daughter requested BBQ and I found Critics Choice through Yelp. The place is located in my neighborhood, and I was impressed with all the positive reviews. Lorraine was extremely helpful from the beginning! She invited us for a tasting, and the presentation was beautiful and we loved the food! I loved how Lorraine kept in touch with us, up until the day of the event. We ordered the Round Up, which consisted of burgers, hot dogs and chicken with all the fixings and two sides. Thank you Critic's Choice Catering you made our wedding a dream come true! Kaycie was our reception coordinator and she was absolutely AMAZING and on point when it came to details with our wedding! ! Stuart Emery helped me with my order and the food was amazing! He had it brought to the Odyssey Yacht Charter Boat on Dec 29, 2018 out of San Pedro (Also 5 stars). Chicken Satay in oven to keep warm until guests board, Planked Salmon in frig, his asst arranged the tables and left directions for my hostess.  Chocolate covered strawberries were out of this world. The best choice that we made for our wedding was selecting Kaycie at Critic's Choice Catering to design, produce, implement and cater our LGBTQ+ wedding at a Record Store. Throughout the entire process, Kaycie was decisive, knowledgeable, warm and a hands-down blast to work with. Kaycie understood our non-traditional vision and connected us with the best vendors in Long Beach to make it happen within our fairly tight budget.  All night long guests were sharing about how incredible the service was and how it was the best food and open bar that they've ever experienced at a wedding. At Critics Choice, Kaycie is the Director. On our wedding night, Kaycie was directing, attending to our needs while also slinging drinks for our guests with outstanding service. The guests knew Kaycie by name and oddly enough, I wasn't surprised. Even in a crowd, Kaycie was attentive to every last need and detail. We had Critics Choice cater a small: 30 or so party at our home. Tracy worked with us to come up with a great menu. We wanted appetizers that required no utensils. Wanted to keep it simple. Well the food was extraordinary: short ribs & mashed potato spoons, tri - tip sandwiches, portobello mushrooms, bacon wrapped dates, and coconut chicken. Celeste did a wonderful job setting up, and gave things her artistic touch. Wolfgang was a great bartender who also picked up after our guests. He definitely multi tasked and went beyond what I expected.  Our guests thought he was a personal friend!Entertaining is work!  Lots of prep, and can't ever imagine doing all the cooking again. One of the elements that made my event successful was definitely the help from Lorraine Rice @ Critic's Choice. The event was a small/medium sized day time panel discussion, and the number of guests was estimated around 60. I picked up the phone and spoke to Lorraine, and explained about the event and what I needed. She understood the concept quickly, discussed some color coordination and food with me. On the event date, Brandon arrived at the venue 2 hours before the event starts to set up buffet tables. He was very efficient and beautifully decorated the buffet tables for our guests. The food was fantastic. Since it was a daytime event, I wanted to serve something lighter than dinner. Lorraine suggested their brunch menu that was exactly what I was looking for. All the food was very fresh and delicious. It was very nice to see our guests enjoying the food at the event. They worked with me and our staff pretty efficiently. I have to explain that Critic's Choice Catering is more than just a caterer. The company is more like a family. I am elated with how helpful, delicious, tasteful, and efficient their staff is. The staff alone turned the ceremony room into our reception without a flaw! I was recommended a florist, DJ and other details for our big day all of which were reliable and exceeded my expectations. Weddings can be a lot of stress and money, however this company made planning more simple and really is fairly priced. I highly recommend the company with five starts! Working with Tracy and her team was a pleasure from start to finish. Super responsive to our needs, and worked with us to hit our budget. They were 15 minutes early delivering on the day of my big company lunch which was great for me! Delivery was flawless, I appreciated the big salad bowls which afforded the right amount of space to be able to mix the salads without making a big mess. The delivery driver was professional and super helpful. We ordered the wild wild west chicken lunch and it was amazing. My vegan and vegetarian were happy with the option they had with a stuffed zucchini boat.  Everyone loved it, and there was plenty for everyone. We were searching for a BBQ Caterer for our corporate event and a colleague recommended Critic's Choice.  After viewing their extensive catering menu, we decided to go another route for our meat and potatoes guest.  So I contacted the Corporate Catering Manager Tracy and she was amazing, very professional, very attentive and made great suggestions.  We scheduled a taste test for several members of our committee and we were NOT disappointed.  We were served the chicken marsala, strawberries field salad w/raspberry vinaigrette dressing, stuffed zucchini boats w/ ratatouille & quinoa topped w/ mozzarella cheese, eddy's potatoes, and the tri tip.  The tri tip was a bit dry, but everything else was amazing.  I think we hired them before we had our taste test because we knew they would work well with our Catering/Logistics and Floral team.  The night of our banquet Tracy's team was on point, I'm the type of event planner that can't stay out of the way, I want to make sure detail in going according to the plan.  But I had nothing to worry about, the entire Critic's Choice team was amazing, very professional, our guest complimented them on their amazing food and don't forget the dessert.  The cannoli is a must have, the ricotta filling was so smooth.  Critic's Choice impressed us so much, We may hire them for another corporate event in the near future, this time it will be for 3,000+ guest.Thank you Tracy and your amazing team. We just want thank Critics choice catering for helping to make our dreams come true. They were amazing! Everything was done to perfection. The food was tasty and warm at all times. The service was spot on. If you have a wedding coming up you would be a fool not to hire them. I have a family member who ran her own catering company for ten years. Critics Choice Catering will always be my #1 choice in catering!!! I was referred to them two weeks ago after my dear father-in-law passed away suddenly. I was emotionally overwhelmed with all the planning details that lay ahead, with booking a caterer high on the list. Lorraine answered the phone with such compassion and professionalism that my entire sense of well being instantly improved. I explained our family's needs and vision, which she confidently responded, "Please dont worry, I got you!" It couldn't be truer! Critics Choice was so on their game with regular communication, fantastic menu options, fair pricing, speedy proposal, organization and overall professional service! Critics Choice handled everything and more with a calming grace; giving our entire family a needed sense of peace and comfort during an otherwise very difficult time.
