About

It is a truly special moment when you find a photographer that takes the time to get to know you and your family. This is what differentiates me from the pack. Combining great attention to detail, with the ability to quickly relate to those individual personalities, allows me to capture the essence of the portrait and that moment in time.

Chris and his wife came out to my home to take family photo's of me and my two children. They were extremely helpful, have a great eye for detail and we had a blast! The entire session was relaxed and natural. My children typically do not enjoy having their pictures taken but having the flexibility to be in the comfort of our own home and back yard made capturing some pretty amazing staged and natural photo's easy and fun.I HIGHLY recommend CMDunbar studios and plan on using them for my future family and event photographer for years to come. The pictures came out wonderful. More...

Chris did the pictures for our 25th Wedding anniversary and vow renewal. This occasion was as important to us as our wedding day. Chris was just amazing. Getting all the right shots whether posed or informal without being “in the way”. Beautiful artistic shots that the regular photographer would never think to take, but when you see them you can’t imagine not having “that” picture. Here is where the tears of joy apply. He does an amazing job and I can’t recommend him enough for all of your photography needs. Love you Chris! More...

Q&As

I believe the main secret is understanding the requirements of the clients desires. There are all of the technical needs but they expected and should be the same for every professional that you speak to, the differentiation would be who is taking the time to understand what you LIKE, what you WANT, and who you ARE. Which is why before we even speak about charges and cost, We will spend time getting to know each other. At the end we will review the three questions of LIKE, WANT and ARE, if they are all good. Then we move forward!

I have many questions that I ask, all depending on the type or style of their request. There are the usual, Indoor/outdoors, time of day. I usually ask what type of "finish" do you like to see on your final image. Do you like it to be crisp and sharp or more soft and gentle? This matters as it changes the appearance of the individual. It can make them appear younger or older, depending on the amount of processing used. I also throw some questions to understand what makes you laugh or happy, possible bad and GOOD experiences form prior Photographers. There are way to many to go through.

'I enjoy so many things about being a portrait photographer, but the best thing without a doubt is when I get the opportunity to bring a entire family together for a Family Portrait. There is something magical about this time together, the glow of pride in Dad's eyes, the looks of sweet adornment exchanged between mother and children. Even the siblings become closer, even if it's just a fleeting moment, it's still real. Don't know maybe it's from growing up a single child, I did not see much of the bigger family events. Don't get me wrong plenty of love, just all for me, and had some benefits. Seeing everyone together and being able to arrange the puzzle pieces of a family, onto a canvas of a Family Portrait is not only fun but breathtakingly beautiful!

Over the years, I have watched my six children grow up and even though I was able to get some really great pictures of those happy moments behind the camera, I really wished that I could have been more of a cheerleader. Encouraging them on from the sidelines, instead of "snapping away". Especially now that my grandchildren come to the house and see all the great memories of their parents but ask "Papa, where are you, were you not there?" They finally understand that I was the one that took the photograph but they are right, was I "there" or was I just "there"? I began to question myself about this a lot and the more I asked it of myself the more I wondered if other parents felt the same. So I started to pay attention and by watching other parents from the sidelines I saw similar expressions. I decided to help change that!

That's when CMDunbar 13 Studios was born! Over the years I have developed my talents and expanded my offerings so greatly that although from time to time I will do the occasional team event I much prefer to do the where I can show the entire family together enjoying themselves, versus a single sporting event.

The clients that have selected me as their Portrait Photographer have found me to be very attentive, patient and understanding. I invest most of the time pre-session with my clients. This way when we meet up on session day we all are ready, and on the same page. We have the same expectations and we know what will happen. This makes for everyone to be relaxed, comfortable and ready to have FUN. Course we ALWAYS have a Plan B!

Services

There are several times in a person’s life that are engraved into their memories forever, their wedding day, the birth of their children to name a few. However, the children’s graduation day and their own graduation day are probably two of the proudest and most memorable times of a person’s life. I can still remember my own, and in fact still carry my wallet some of my closest friends Senior Portraits till this day. That is 30 plus years of love and adventures in a wallet and they are still there, much to the chagrin of my wife. A little worn, but filled with memories of those High School years. That experience though, is the same results I promise to provide to you as your Senior Portrait Photographer. To provide a quality Portrait that will remain with you over decades just as it did the day it was taken!

Your animal children are super supportive in your daily lives! They give you so much and expect so little in return it is the true definition of love. They are there for you to listen to your woes, and celebrate your victories. Understanding miraculously on just how to respond to each one of those times to make you feel better. Unfortunately, it is my belief, that this is why they have a shorter life than we do. For all the good reasons though, is why we should include them into our portraits as often as possible, after all they are a very big part of the family no matter what their size. We also understand that there are times when you may simply want a portrait of your pet, we have you and your friend covered.
