I had a project that took more than one sitting. Christy had good recommendations that allowed the preliminary shoot to generate high quality photos. Her recommendations on how to make small changes to the shoot brought the next set of photos to a level voting my expectation. I’m
Looking forward to working with Christy on other projects I have ideas for.

Q&As

Taking a great photograph does not involve expensive equipment - which is often the fallacy suffered by new photographers and clients. Just because a photographer has great glass (lenses) or lots of lights does not mean he or she can produce a memorable image. A great photograph should tell a story - be well composed and carry emotional impact. I have seen so many headshots that look like a yearbook picture. Or worse, a selfie. Ugh. You deserve better than that. Just today, I noticed a restauranteur's food photos were poorly lit and framed - and the food deserved to be celebrated not destroyed with poorly executed photos. Sure, a photographer needs knowledge - and the appropriate equipment. But then he or she needs style, creativity - and passion.

How do you want the viewer to feel when he or she sees this photo? What are you trying to say in your images? What moments do you want captured? What is your brand identity? The questions about location and procedure are obvious - it's the feelings that are most important to a successful session. For example, in a boudoir session, she might want to look intimidating and powerful. That session will be very different from a client who wants to look sweet and submissive. As another example, if you want your product to look modern and sophisticated, I would be using much harder light and shadow. A traditional look would be far softer. Obviously, I take a lot of time getting to know my client before pressing the shutter!

The moment when a subject - the person I am photographing - relaxes and shows himself or herself. Or the moment when a client reviews the proofs of his or her products or artwork - and knows I have executed exactly what was requested. These are good moments. I'm also driven to find that candid moment when people are connecting, laughing, or celebrating. My job is the best.

Other people! I operated a successful business for almost 20 years...and on weekends or evenings, I was a hobbyist photographing family and friends. Then those same people started requesting I take the photos. And others were demanding to buy my fine art photos as prints. After about two years of that, I thought: Hey, why not? If I can make others so happy, I should keep doing it! Making the world a better place is a good goal, I think.

Choose me because I am fun. I'm authentic. (I don't have time for B.S.) I am relaxed. I am responsive. You tell me how you want to appear - how you want your brand to show - and I will deliver that.

I do remote work for artists who send me paintings or sculptures to photograph. I do the same for product clients. So, you sell crocheted blankets? You can send those to me and I can work remotely. For events, portraits and headshots...obviously I cannot be remote. But I do travel.

I assume my assistants and I should be masked. I also keep six foot distance and avoid touching clients even for portraiture. This has been challenging, but with a little assistance from the person's family or friends - we can take care of wardrobe and hair without risk. If I use stools or props or costumes, all are disinfected for safety.
