What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Know what your want to capture and portray and then set the scene. For example, if wanting to get close up for individuals reacting to a moment, setting the camera on an aperture that will blur the background, focusing on the person, but also setting appropriate shutter speed to catch any fast reactions. And of course, always being aware of the lighting conditions and how falls on a person. Or if taking photo of a family, trying to encourage or capture the moment of interaction between the family. Even in posed shots, you want to get as natural look as possible, so get everyone comfortable and at ease.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Is it a location/event shoot and if so, what is the location and event?
How many people will be in photo?
What type of photo do you want -- portrait, candid, in studio, outside? Is it a group photo? Family photo? If children, what are their ages?
Are there any animals?
Do you want prints and if so, do you have specific, or approximate, sizes in mind.
What do you love most about your job?
Meeting people, getting to know their personalities and portraying those personalties in the images.
What inspired you to start your own business?
It's what I love to do and brings me joy to provide images that bring others joy.
